GTA IV Multiplayer Hands-on- "Amazing"

The new Xbox World 360 magazine will have a 17 page blow out on the multiplayer mode in their next issue. They've also done a podcast where they talk about it, the discussion begins around 49 minutes in.. I just listened to it and here's some of the highlights

- They love the multiplayer mode. They talk about how in other games you're able to forgive it for having a poor multiplayer mode because it might have an amazing single player mode. But then you see GTA4 and it has as big of a single player mode as those games and an amazing multiplayer mode to go along with it.

- They say it's one of the best looking games on the 360. The lighting is what makes it according to them. They go on to talk about how games like Oblivion are hurt visually because of it'll chug sometimes and how something like Gears is really beautiful but it's very linear. But GTA4 has the size of Oblivion and the beauty of Gears.

- The framerate is really smooth. They mentioned the only time it started to chug is when 4-8 of them were shooting rocket launchers at a gas station to make it blow up.

- It's mentioned that at any time you can just pull out your phone and jump into a game.

- One of them mentions how he's always felt that the series has been a "jack of all trades, master of none" type game, and now it's a master of them all.

- The combat is amazing. They said it feels like Resident Evil 4.

- The driving is really good although it's harder than any of the previous versions. They mention that if an actual racing game used its driving model you'd be happy with it.

- They'll be leaving next week to review it.

if you dont expect much from a game and then its amazing your even more pleased. Where as if you get really hyped up about a game and then its not all that good youll be diassapointed. A big example of this is halo 3, it was impossible for halo to live up to its mass hype

Reviewers of the game on Gamestop and I am sure on other game store websites are saying that the 360 version is going to support no multiplayer gaming, however the PS3 version will support 2 players. It is amazing that people seriously can be such fan boys that they neglect to do any research what-so-ever on a game they claim to love so much. I'm sorry, but PS3 is a good system and so is the 360, but if I am told that the 360 version is going to have 50 million dollars worth of content that can't be found on the PS3 version and that both games are going to be the same game other than the 360 content, it really is a no brainer. In this case, go for the 360 version. Duh! lol But who am I anyways? So this is how it should be if people are smart enough to do their research. If you don't any of the next gen systems, get the 360 and get that game if you are looking to buy GTA IV. Hands down. If you own only a PS3...and can't afford to get a new game system, well stick with your PS3 GTA IV game. If you can afford a new system it doesnt make sense not to become a multi-platform user and get the 360 version of the game. It just doesn't make sense people.

1.4 - Okay, now I am very hyped about this game

I did some research and found that the 360 version and the PS3 version are going to support 4 player co-op and 16 player versus. Wow is all I have to say.

...with this game, it's that it isn't coming to the Wii. And wait, I'm not some rampant Wii fanboy or something, I don't even own one yet; I only say this because Wii-only owners have to miss out on this amazing game!

Sounds great and I can't wait. My only concern is that when really popular games come out the community is usually full of garbage. People cursing back and forth, calling people gay, little kids screaming at the top of their lungs and people listening to bad loud music. I will probably only play online with people I know and never with any random people.

i will try and keep my coments as non fanboy as possible but i think it would be a waste for rockstar to spend the time to rework the game for the wii. would some wii people buy it,,, yes however most (not all but most) people who would buy a game like GTA 4 and have a wii also have a ps3 or 360 and would opt for those versions due to online componants,graphics etc.. so the wii version wouldn't sell enough copies to cover the cost of making the game for the wii.

on topic, i can't wait. although GTA games SP modes are fun the idea of carjacking actual people in multiplayer has me excited and to hear that it doesn't suck is starting to build the hype for me.

I think the Wii should get a GTA game but not this one. Do you know what would be awesome? Lego GTA, Wii exclusive. Can you imagine how fantastic it would be if you could build your own vehicles and other in game content? It would also keep the family friendly Nintendo image intact too as the violence would be so much less lifelike.

As for GTA IV, like the rest of you, I can't wait!

Beauty of gears??? they forgot how gears looked or what!?? GTA doesnt even come close to gears.

One of the Best looking games on the 360? yea maybe. but not so much on PS3. All of the PS3's exclusives look marginally better than GTAIV. GTAIV doesnt come close.

11 - Wow great details

I was a bit worried about MP, but if it`s as good as they say then by all means. I hope they have improved the framerate is it was a bit unstable back in the old PS2 days, but with a game with so much going on i can see why. I`m really excited for the shooting system too, which also wasn`t the best in the old days. One that resembles RE4 however...

Can`t wait for the game to come out so i can pick it up on PS3. Hope Sony drops the price of it too (doubt it, but if 360 get`s it`s sales drastically improved in Europe, then maybe, even though it`s a long shot), so i`m sure i can afford it.

11.1 - RE4 aiming system was great...

... but I think we all know it would have been better if you could move while aiming. GTAIV looks to add that component while removing some of the accuracy afforded by RE4's "laser sight."

I'm usually not drawn into the hype machines, but I have to admit this game has had me salivating for months.

Yeah that`s true and i agree, but in RE4`s case i think it might have been done, so that the game is scarier (you have the choice of running or standing still and let the monsters come closer). But for GTA4, bring on the running and gunning ;)
