1.4 - EA with a console is possible

Microsoft still wants to commoditize the console business. It will be an xbox 720 with an EA tag on it, "EA games powered by XBOX720". Could be a basic unit that just plays games. In order to get into the Japanese market, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, and other may do the same with little tags "Powered by Xbox720" logos.

rainbow 6 vegas is gettin good scores. loved the 1st one and this one doesnt seem to be bad from the reviews so far and i hope it stays that way.

and xbox live 2.0? hmm its an april issue so i wonder if this is true, if its true then i cant wait to see what its going to do. hopefully itll have something to do with dedicated servers

ps3 sales are definitly gonna increase by alot this year. hd-dvd is dead and the ps3 is a cheap blu-ray alternative to the standalone players AND it can play games, what more could u want out of the $500 price tag? its definitly a sweet deal

It never fails to amaze why people want to give MSFT casual advice on networking and resource managment. WTF do you think you're talking about when you say "dedicated servers"? Care to elaborate or just repeat FUD?

I've played on Xbox LIVE, and their is no problems at all.

yea ur playing xbox live games with no problems but its because there are limits on the amount of people that can play on the games we play over live. look at frontlines [with dedicated servers] and how theres up to 50 people and compare that to halo 3 [non-dedicated] which only has 18 players max. any game we play online runs thru a server [or host] made by the developers for their game to support everyone or sometimes when people create rooms to play against other people but dedicated servers are separate hosts [or a room] and its only purpose is to host the game which is why its able to support more people.

hows that for repeating FUD? maybe u should do some research next time so u wont look dumb tryin to accuse me of bashing MS

Now I like EA's racing titles but beyond that and NCAA Football the produce a lot of very mediocre games. They should focus on game production instead of trying to jump into the console race because with their rep and the current dominance of the 3 consoles available I don't think they will be able to compete. On another note it is nice to see a decent review for RSV2. The once I have seen so far irritated me.

EA making a console seems like a crazy stupid idea. Look at the time that software giant Microsoft has had getting into the hardware space - it took them what, around 7 years to see a quarter in the black? I think it would be even more difficult for EA.

Not to mention that any gamer that knows anything, pretty much hates EA with a passion. I suspect their console would be met with as much skepticism as their games currently are.

Whether you are in the PS3 or Xbox camp this is one thing that would unite both sides....Hating on EA's console. It would have to be head and shoulders above the competition to not be a total joke.

You are forgetting that unlike Microsoft they have estlabished developers already not to mention one of the longest list of franchises there is.

I know its cool to make jokes about EA but come on. Not every game is terrible that they make and they have gone out of their way to take established franchises and take thier spin on it. Im not a big EA fan, but Im not naive to think that oh well the industry will make fun of them because thier games all suck.

Please poeple will take notice if Madden were to be exclusive to a particular console. I dont know if you noticed but the hardcore do not make up the majority of the industry. Not to mention the fact that they picked up Bioware and Bizarre Creations which are both talented developers. Oh and if they do end of taking 2K well those are pretty much the other experianced sport game developers. Add in Battlefield and MoH and you start to see how much power EA would hold in making their very own console.

Think about it no ports jsut straight up games for one console. They could have yearly updates of almost every franchise and still have time to develop new IPs. Will they all be good no, but EA is a huge force in the industry. If they do happen to land T2 then damn they have a lot of big franchises which I doubt even the hardcore who insult EA all the time could deny wanting to play.

Biggest problem with an EA console is that most likely most, if not all EA games would become exclusive to the console to help drive sales. Even if it didn't happen right away, I am sure it would be in the works once they got a bigger install base. The whole thing stinks to high hell if you ask me.

If EA gets into consoles don't you think it might succeed?

You know since they have all those sports titles like Madden and if they do acquire T2 they will also have Bioshock which could move alot of consoles and give EA a good deal of market share. From a business perscective this looks like a really good thing but from a gamers perscective this is the worse thing possible to happen.

An EA console?!?!? I would be scared to buy it out of fear they would release a marginally improved version of the console every year LOL. Maybe EA could team up with activision and ubisoft and every november they just make a new console that comes with all the games for that year included. It would be cool to have a dedicated system to play tony hawk 32 or tom clancy's we have run out new game names part 6 on.
