Cant wait for some (new) footage or information.

I'm more interested by this than GTA, one, because its exclusive so they can really push it technically, and two, i lived in London for a long time to its easier for me to relate to than New York.

I'm expecting great things from this years E3.

Man I just hope they get the gameplay intact, because both Getaway games and Gangs of London had awesome graphics and a pretty good storyline (aside from GoL) but the gameplay was bland as hell. It's never too late for a dev to learn though so I'm willing to give them another shot.

The PS2 was a great console but I think many developers (ie. GG) overestimated its power and tried to pack too much in at times. Sony has seen this and has worked to give these developers room to take these risks with the knowledge that the hardware will be there to back up their vision in the long run.

It's funny, I watch Top Gear and a lot of Rally racing and I can tell you that a high end car is more demanding than any street legal car any day, people might even say that a race or rally car is too difficult to work with, but with practice and a new way of thinking most can learn to appreciate what is offered.

The PS3 strikes me as this sort of machine, raw power with a learning curve. I think as an industry leader and having the most radically different console on the market right now Sony has realised that they need to set the example for what can be done on the system before others take note that the system is capable if your abilities are up to the task.

My hunch is that when KZ2, The Getaway, R2, GT5 and the many other exclusives are released, there will be a noticeable shift in how the PS3 is perceived even more than we are witnessing now.

Developers are just like anyone else, they like new technology but some are risk takers and others are not. You put a problem in front of 100 people and some will complain and shutdown, while others will begin to think in different ways to solve the problem. Developers are the same way, they critisize the PS3 because it's not familiar and they don't want to admit that "I might need to do some work on the front end to understand what I have."

The fact is that games such as the Getaway will just serve to truly set the PS3 apart from any other gaming experience available. Sony's stable of 1st and 2nd party devs exclusive to them is second to none in the industry, and if anyone takes an objective look at the 1st and 2nd party exclusives the PS3 has right now I think the evidence is clear.

This game should be very good, I don't see Sony going half a$$ on any of their own IPs as the whole industry is looking to them for inspiration on how to tame this beast we call PS3.

along with the perfect voice actors. The gameplay was good but nothing revolutionary. I can't wait to see what they do with the next iteration. The story telling should be epic.

The Getaway has never been considered a first-run game, it's always been behind GTA and other open-world series.

I don't understand why PS3 owners jump on every game like it's the second coming of Christ.

Some of the games I understand: LBP, MGS4, GT5...but some of the games are pure crap: HAZE, Getaway, etc.

I don't know, maybe I'm just not blinded by a single console.

this is like saying why buy a console and not appreciate let alone feel good about upcoming games? man look HAZe isn't even out yet so how can i say i sucks? heck ive could have said that about bioshock before it released but didn't. getaway isn't GTA we all know that we all get it, getaway is just that getaway, it has its differences. unless you want another saints road in your hands than fine buy that instead. but yeah getaway was actually a good game, it reminds me more of an action flick than anything else something like the Italian job or a mob movie, heck EA fell somewhat inspired and decided that god father take a shot at both this and GTA and what happened? little complaints even though god father is just like getaway which by the way say is an older franchise, some people don't seem to think too much of the getaway maybe because it doesn't have the hype of GTA? or maybe because its a sony property?

people on here talk about games every time ps3 and blu ray talk arises, the xbox crowd seem to think that sony has no game when in reality sony has the largest game studio out of the big 3 and yes that includes nintendos, so when i hear its all about games and sony doesn't care about games is silly talk really, why would they invest 30 mill on killzone 2? why would they invest money on god of war? twisted metal, syphone filter? and many others?

before the wii there was and there is still the eye toy. and its still successful. so why do we ps3 owners go googoo an gaga like is the 2nd coming of christ? because maybe we too like games?

It is one of the best games I have played. The GetAway 1 was great, Black Monday was OK, graphics was better, but the story was not as good.

Come on Sony... this is one of the reasons why I bought the PS3. Bring it on!

You use different programming languages for different uses, yes C++ is hard to learn, hell I tryed teaching myself but theirs not much point in comparing VB code to C++ when both are used for different functions or things etc.

It's my opinion that The Get Away is better, but I know some people prefer GTA and that's cool too

@ funkysolo - man dont be silly. How can you say the GTA series sucks and it's just for wannabe-gangsta kids? Fair enough the GTA games bored you and you didnt like the missions or story, but you know your simply in the minority on this view. The GTA series is one of the top most successful selling game franchises of ALL TIME. If the GTA series sucked then you tell me how comes it has tens of millions of fans, sold tens of millions of copies and gain the cult-status it has as a video game? Marketing alone wont just do it, so dont talk bull****. The reality is, mister that most people who played the GTA games enjoyed them and where blown away. GTA's place in video gaming history is wrriten in stone. You cannot play down these facts down no matter how lowly your view of GTA is. GTA Vice City had one of the best storylines I've ever played on a console game, it was like playing in a real-life Mafia gangster movie. If you dont like GTA just say it and leave it at that, but you dont need to be hating on what is clearly an totally enjoyable experience on one of greatest video game franchise titles of ALL time - the GTA series.

As for The Getaway on the PS3, to be honest I'm not really looking too forward to it. I'm a PS3 owner and I dont mean to make comparisons, but GTA 4 just looks ALOT better and huge enough to keep me more than content with a gangster/crime adventure game. The Getaway on the PS2 was quite weak, I played it briefly and I just could'nt get into it. I can remember years back when people had the audacity to compare the first Getaway to GTA Vice City - some even went as far as to say it was even better than Vice City! Damn, Vice City made toast out of The Getaway! And for me it's still the same - with the way GTA 4 is looking, it seems like it's gonna crush all opposition in this genre, The Getaway included. The Getaway needs to literally GETAWAY and not bother even competing with GTA 4!

i guess, but what you got to realize is, that even though that shouldn't give most people faith on the next game or two that doesn't mean you shouldn't have any in it, i mean look at how good have all the unreal tournaments been, until unreal 2003 came out? it was one of the worst in the series. meanwhile look at MLB the show 08 all of the previous ones have been pretty much lackluster experiences, but so far 08 has proven otherwise, so you see companies wouldn't keep working on titles for the sake of it, rather they would work on titles because they either already have their fanbase, or because they strongly believe they can change and fix the things that made the others fail.

for example twisted metal head-on fix many issues that both tm3 and 4 had, mlb 08 did the same. as for killzone while the first fail to convince the critics i honestly think it was a good game, the problem with that game was simple like getaway in its time it was just too big for its platform at the time, why i bet if these two ips would have been on the original xbox instead they probably would have score better due to the abilities of the hardware, i mean look at halo 2 that was huge at the time, in fact so huge some people criticize the 3rd because they look awfully close to one another. now if you look at killzone 2, just judging from that alone one can safely assume its going to be different and with all the money being invested into these projects i think is fair to say they are going through a big face lift at this point in time. another example here is perfect dark the first one was good but the 360 edition wasn't as good, so... why would Microsoft bother making another? cuz you know they will make another one at some point in time you can bank on it.

in the end is just an opinion like the a$$ hole everyone's got one.

I kinda agree with you there - I played the first Getaway on the PS2 and I just thought it was crap. That was enough for me to forget about it altogether. Around that time I was too busy playing the mighty Vice City, and The Getaway just had to get away!
Sorry but it's GTA 4 that I'm waiting for.
