when the comparisons show CoD 4 (the highest rated and selling current gen multiplatform title to date) as being identical...why does it matter?...the only thing these comparisons do is create wars on pointless websites...or give someone owning both consoles an idea of what platform a mediocre title is better on...

as i stated below, this information has its value with multi-console owners, who don't want to buy both games. If you only own 1 console, why would you even care. If you plan on getting a second console than yeah, i think this information can be useful to you also.

Articles like these are only flamebait to rabid fanboys. If you only have one console, and only plan on owning one console, then articles like these shouldn't even matter to that person. But like i said before, if you own two or more and there is a multi-plat release, then this information can help you decide which console it's best for or that will give you a lil' bit more for your buck.

To say these articles, especially this one which i think Eurogamer does a fantastic job, are useless, is asinine.

dissagree with you.. if you have both consoles then obviously your gonna chose 360 version all the time. its practically a fact by now that all ps3 multiplats are always inferrior or equall at most. and thats not even including acheivements / custom soundtracks/ in game guide(xmb) and messanging features the ps3 is currently lacking. so even games like cod4 which are equal... arent really equal in the end.
if you have both consoles than the 360 is the obvious choice, if you have only 1 console than you dont have a choice.

I have the x360/Ps3 and sometimes it comes down to the controller, on which multi-platform game to get.

For people that do Own both consoles, I guess they can digest these articles a little better. If your not so in love with one console over the other, and have a hard time picking out a multi plat tittle, I'm sure sometimes this info can be of help.

But yeah if you have 1 of each, it's easy to cry foul or go on a rant.

you choose it because of the controller? thats odd, i cant stand the ps3 controller. the analog sticks are horribly inaccurate, just one slight movement and it goes all the way to the corners. no precision at all. then the r2 l2 buttons are the worst. pressing those buttons is like doing exercises or something, hard as a rock and really unconformable. i am a long time ps1 and ps2 owner but this controller has just had better days. the only thing i did like is in uncharted how you move it to throw a nade. it makes it feel more realistic. and also when i was playing assasins creed the controller caused a blister on one of my fingers due to those horrible curvs after the r2 l2 buttons. the last time that happend was on the n64 controller from playing goldeneye.

i have both consoles and i know that my 360 is far beter than my ps3, i guess its just me though. i used to play pc games but moved onto consoles because of the better/more social online community. which the 360 shines at. the ps3 however is actually worse than the pc in terms of features. theres no voice chat, no text chat, no messages, no game invites, theres basically nothing going on online. ps3 online reminds me of bots, or playing against bots. nobody says anything ever. i play online to play against other people and for the whole social comunity around the games.. however on ps3 there is no comunity , just a buncha mutes with no mics.

Have to disagree with you!
The difference has to be quiet substansial for me to want the 360 version over the PS3 version. I far prefer the six axis (360 controller gives me hand ache for extended play time)- and I often play late at night when my wife has gone to bed, so the volume has to be down. With the kind of racket the 360 makes, I can barley hear the game, and in this situation the quite whirring of the PS3 is far more palatable!
However, there so many god awful shabby ports, that I still get several of the titles on 360 anyway, despite the noise and my controller preference! But if the differences are very slight, I prefer using the Ps3 .. :)

I currently own a 360; and because i pay for live, have noticed myself that multi-plat titles perform better, and am in love with the controller (because after Dreamcast i never went back to the PS controller, and 360's is just a spinoff/improvement over DC's controller), when i get my ps3 i will still buy multi-plat titles for 360. But the PS3 exclusives is what i'm after, and can only be played on PS3. I already enjoy 360 exclusives.

I was just trying to show that there is a need for these comparisons. And to the fact that they do help some gamers. And, also, in my opinion Eurogamer does them the best. They even turn on the RBG to full that the PS3 owners were complaining about. They are trying to be as fair as possible. And they are helping to inform multi-console owners...

i actually want to sell my ps3.. im sorry but ive been utterly deceived since ive boughten it. i shouldnt of boughten it from the start, none of the exclusive even intrest me at all, and the ones that do get pushed back to late 08 or 09. KZ2 was a game i reallywanted but its still a year away. mgs4 is 4 months away. who the hell knows when home is finaly gonna come out im betting on november 08. same for lbp. ff13 is coming out 09. theres just too much waiting involved with the ps3. i honestly havent turned it on to play games since november when i rented UT3 however my 360 i use it everyday to play halo 3 lost odyssey and mass effect which im trieng to complete before gta4 comes out which is a must have for 360 cause of the expansion packs.
Dareaver1 i really advise you to really , really think about not getting a ps3 because in the end you dont even need one once you already have a 360,i learned this the hard way and am now trieng to sell it. the ps3 is just there in my room collecting dust. theres still no good games on it and there wont be till mgs4 is out. which i really wana play but just 1 game is not worth buying a 500$ console. im gonna sell this and just keep my 360 till the ps3 slim comes out, perhaps then the ps3 will have some decent games on it.

for me the PS3 exclusives i want to play are Uncharted mostly, I heard that Resistance was pretty good and 2 is shaping up to supersede it. I'm not into GT Pro, and if GT5 does not show enough improvement than i won't get that either. Forza 2 is just leaps and bounds better (except for graphics, but the GT series has always been known for that, i'm more interested in gameplay and realism and Forza has all simulators beat there for now [in my opinion]). LBP looks awesome and that's what i like a more community feel (that's why i enjoy Live so much), White Knight looks promising.

Unfortunately i'm going to wait for the DualShock 3 controller to be bundled in, but it's just hit me that the Best PS3 to get is the 60gig model, it encompass all Sony initially set out to do. I might try to find one of those and sell the controller and get two DualShock 3's. I might have to resort to that, because BC is essential to me.

keep your PS3 dont sell it.I own a 360 and have always wanted a PS3 for GT5,but so far that might not get to europe till 09,same as FF13 and maybe KillZONE 2(which dose not interest me).And if Forza 3 is announced for 09 then i wont get GT5,and will get whatever good exclusive that they have at that point.These games will come out sooner or later and when they are released i am sure they will be good.

Mean while enjoy the confirmed 360 titles of 08 because its going to be another 07 in terms of software all over again.

wow. bluray alone justifies your purchase unless your sticking with sd dvd with your plasma/lcd Dareaver1. Plus you wont have to pay for any extras IF you get the ps3 bundled with the ds3. No hidden extras, no hardware issues. There are enough great games to keep you going especially if you have a job/family/social life. You shouldnt be disappointed unless your really hard to please or have an agenda like mr chrisGT

most people are gamers not videophiles, so stating that PS3 is worth the purchase due to Blueray is not a valid point for most gamers.

E3 event in 05 when the PS3 was unveiled,Sony blew the microsoft into the water with tech sheets for the PS3 and all those Motorstorm,Killzone 2 etc videos.What did microsoft show "DOA4,PGR3 and someother prealpha build games running on Apple G5's".At that point i said there was no way i was getting the 360 but will get the PS3.The only reason i changed my mind was beacause i could not wait for the extra year for the PS3 to be released.

The PS3 is yet to deliver on those gorgeous pre rendered videos that they showed at E3.The same happened when the PS2 was unveiled and they said that out of the gate it will have Toy Story beaten visuals.We all laughed at their claims but could care less because their competitors where all week.

Now come 08 and the Microsoftand Nintendo are very strong.The 360 has exceeded everyones expectations graphically and software wise.When GOW lunched people felt the 360 was maxed out until epic said they only used 1 of the 3 cores and didnt fully utilize the unified shader architecture of the 360.

If Sony had not overhyped the PS3 then it would not be a problem,but i wont start playing beyond until those Sony promises for once are fulfilled.And to me that looks like christmas this year

I was always assuming that i'll buy a PS3 come this upcoming November, i figured by then it'll have the DualShock 3's bundled in and maybe, just maybe wireless headsets, who knows. But I might have to find a 60gig, since i know that it is the best model. and the fact that i could always upgrade the hdd, makes the 80gig model pointless when compared to the 60gig.

But for now I'm very Happy with my 360, only 3 flashing lights once, and i'm behind in beating my games, you can check out my gamercard. I still have Orange Box, Bioshock, DMC4, and Naruto (i think it's an awesome game, the best anime based game to date, and any true Naruto fan would love it), to beat. I did beat Mass Effect, which was awesome, and Halo 3 is just a joy to play. I still have to get CoD4 though, but i might not since 5 is gonna come out this year and i'm not really missing anything, because i kind of prefer the Sci-fi universe over reality (just my personal preference).

Did you here, Halo 3 won best "real time visuals", many don't think it deserves it, but i do. It had awesome visuals, especially they lighting, and the FMV sequences were breathtaking. My favorite scene was when you found Cortana and she was laying on the Holo projector. That was so vivid and realistic that you could mistaken it for CG. Sorry to get off topic, but i'm one of the many that loves Halo 3 and can appreciate CoD4 for what it has accomplished all at the same time.

The 360 is also a great system, and there is no hidden fees, everything is up front and is to your option, what you want. 360 is at it's core and game console first, mutli-media device after. Don't get me wrong the PS3 is a great machine, but you don't need everything that comes with it. With the 360 i have the option of Wi-Fi (some people don't like it, others do, Optional), HD movie playback is available through Xbox Live, so there is no need to purchase any hardware unless you want to purchase the Physical media (which i don't care for, it's all clutter to me and i mostly rent everything from blockbuster in the first place, and on Live it's cheaper than Blockbuster), it has most of the same media capabilities as the PS3 sans The web browser and Linux capability, it has great 3rd party support, currently more diversity with game genres (attributed to it's earlier release, but only slightly), and etc.

Just like you i hate lists, but at the same time i'm not going to spin things in favor to make the other look less appealing.

The 360 is more optional than the PS3. In essence you can tailor the 360 more specific for your needs. And that can make it potentially cheaper, and you can also tailor it to make it more expensive than the PS3. See what i'm saying...?

I never said the PS3 aint got games,all i said is that they are yet to deliver on the visual promises they made.Remember they said the PS3 will make the 360 look like XBOX 1.5.A year and a half after it is released we are seeing multi-plat games still looking better on the XBOX1.5 than on the PS3.When Xbox was released it immediately showed its superiority to the PS2 so why isn't the PS3 doing the same.And don't say uncharted, i have seen the game and i agree its stunning but the 360 can run that game easily.

PS3 will shine much brighter with its upcoming titles,but all i am saying is that SOny said,showed things and made promises they should not have made in the 1st place.

Take it as you wish but that is the truth and this time around they most deliver b4 i will play beyond.

n/b:Software wise lets not even go there.I just got Assassins creed on monday.why because i am still buying games from 07(to many to own) and still haven't gotten COD4, and already Lost Odyssey and FLFOW are already out.ALone in the Dark 4 a game i have been waiting for ages for(delayed on PS3),GTA4 to name a few will be out in approximately 2.5 mothes.Thats why i am a gamer i don't see why i should wait.

who says he didn't like the ps2 because the emotion engine wasnt real or something to that effect. PR and marketing speak is just that. Promises are made by all companies I just choose to distinguish the wheat from the chaff. Ill go by their actions over their speak. I deliberately chose not to downplay the 360 because I think its a great console despite its issue nevertheless I was commenting on why mr d should pick up a ps3 and that he wont be disappointed unless he's hard to please etc. No additional cost is important to me. Charger pack for pads, wireless xbl are extra/additional cost in my eyes and i was making the point that he would not need to purchase any of these things ( I missed hdmi lead for the ps3 so forgive me)

Some promises are just targets and hopes. I wouldn't not buy a great console because of pr speak (which ms is equally guilty of) that hadn't been fulfilled or I would of never of ever purchased any launch console. My list were of games that have in some way shape or form has impressed me or fulfilled some of sony's pr speak. Sony has indeed kept some of its promises and to me they outweigh the misplaced promises. Did uncharted or heavenly sword not impress you one bit? I mention them because they were year 1 titles.

I'll disagree. I'll say the value is rather... weak at best. Why? Because most people have made up their minds already on which console they prefer, which version they will purchase, and it can be for a number of reasons. Achievements, friends to play online with, controller preferences, etc. If someone is going to choose one version over another simply for one slight texture difference, or SLIGHT AA differences, then I have to say its all in the fanboy bragging rights and has nothing to do with actual preference.

There articles are flamebait through and through in my opinion. You can almost feel him trying to find reasons to make the 360 version of DMC4 superior, despite no screen tearing on the PS3 edition. It's a pity that more people are concerned with justifying their purchase than just playing the goddamn games any more.

I expect this to reach a head when GTAIV hits, with people picking out the most miniscule of differences and then using them to justify/argue which version is superior. So lame. Still, the very concept that the PS3 cannot have a superior port needs to be done away with ASAP, and fanboys need to accept that already.

I see a game I want and get the hardware to play it. It has led me to purchase all three from this generation and has led to more purchases on each platform too. Hope devs care enough about their work *not* to use PS3 as lead developing to the PS3's standard then porting to 360 to avoid trouble and earn bragging rights gimping the games to PS3 standards to make it appear that PS3 is closing and or theres no problem.

Both systems show off a certain amount of render passing that pops into focus on sweeping vista shots, but they occur at the same time on each system and are quickly dismissed. However, observing these differences will only come via frame-by-frame analysis of each game side-by-side. Even then, you're still receiving an incredible visual experience.

That was only the guy from Eurogamers opinion. The devs who made DMC4 and a few other game reviewers said it looks and plays better on the PS3

I just read the link from Gamepro and they even gave an edge to the PS3 version of COD4.
As I have both PS3 and 360 versions of COD4 (I have friends on both..lol), I have to agree. Multiplayer is awesome on the PS3 with no lag on PSN, where as the 360 version, well its just a lag-fest and totally unplayable sometimes.

It's not in the gameplay department, because DMC4 plays the same regardless of which system that you play on. Nor is it in the visual department, because visual issues are virtually negligible. COD4 texture comparison, the 360 is the better version.

DMC4/Burnout Paradise have the PS3 as the main platform and still the 360 version is on par or better as said in this article.

360 to PS3 ports suck
PS3 to 360 is equal

COD2, Quake 4, GRAW 1&2, Dead Rising, Rainbow Six, Prey, The Darkness, Bioshock, Mass Effect, C&C, Battlefield MC, FEAR/FEAR files, Condemed, Crackdown, Saints Row, Splinter Cell DA, Chromehounds, Flatout UC, COD4, Frontlines, PDZ, Madden, Fight Night, and Lost Planet just to name a few, and I didn't even have to mention Gears or Halo.

So... if they fail at life, at least they don't fail at games. Can you say the same? I mean all your multiplat games accept 2 are subpar to that of the 360, and your first party still doesn't hold a candle to Gears. So who realy fails here? The Mart And POG for playing games, or you for sitting on the sidelines watching them play the games? It's not the Xbots fault Sony showed up to the party late, wearing Blu-Ray clothes.

COD2 - Played On PC, Quake 4 - Played On PC, GRAW 1&2 - Have ON PS3, Dead Rising - piece of crap anyways i saw the movie lol, Rainbow Six - Vegas yup have that on ps3 also, Prey - Hey guess what if i wanted this game i'd be playing it on ... PC, The Darkness - Have it on PS3, Bioshock - Have on PC, Mass Effect - Hate SCI FI Rpgs, C&C - seriously RTS games dont work on consoles, Battlefield MC - PC, FEAR/FEAR files -rented it on ps3 didnt like it, Condemed - tbh never heard of it but googled it and its on ps3, Crackdown - Hey isnt that the game M$ sold to you to get a halo 3 beta xD?, Saints Row - GTA rip off, Splinter Cell DA - Also Have On PS3, Chromehounds - same as condemed, Flatout UC - prefer burnout, COD4 - Have on Ps3 , Frontlines- available on ps3 didnt buy it, PDZ = $hite , Madden - In europe most places dont stock madden, Fight Night- on ps3, and Lost Planet- recently on ps3 and that game sux. just to name a few, and I didn't even have to mention Gears (PC) or Halo.
