Sony Responds To January NPD Sales, Seems Pleased

Kotaku reports:

"Microsoft may have suffered heavily on the hardware side this January due to stock shortages, but Sony isn't going to but an asterisk by its win. It starts off its corporate statement on last month's U.S. sales pointing out that the PlayStation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 by 17%, boasting of "continued momentum" for the console. Increased PlayStation Network downloads and nearly 3 million PSN accounts, corporate says, illustrate that momentum"

The AAA hyped games are coming. They're being hyped so highly because they're expected to be great. Sony could have released their major in-house games early whether they were ready or not, but they're not doing that. They're going to let these games get the amount of time they deserve. MGS4 is coming in the next few months and GTA is right around the corner. That'll keep you busy until Gran Turismo, Resistance 2,Little Big Planet, Home, etc later this year. Relax. Good times ahead for Sony and PS3 owners.

They're always like that. The "Resistance goes after religion" was taken completely out of context and never corrected it. They dogged the fact PSN had no update during Christmas becase *GASP* Sony gave their employees the week off for the holidays. if sony doesnt out sell the 360 next month again im sure they will do another price drop before the big titles come out in late march early april,I mean they have shown signs of a price cut possible if needed, do to the slashing on the parts going into the PS3 and the smaller CPU's being made for it, so now its wait and see on when they actually do it.

while this is sort of surprising, yet inevitable sooner or later...I am pretty confused by MS's 'shortage' or whatever they are calling it...every local best buy, circuit city, wal-mart, and gamestop have each type of 360 in stock...and in fact some are out of the 40gb PS3 currently...

I have not heard of one person, online or otherwise, that is looking for a 360 but can't find one...are there really people around that can't find any?

Congrats Sony, very well done. And if anyone thinks that MS had significant shortages answer this question. If the Wii is sold out at amazon number 1, PS3 sku's are number 7 and 18, 360 number 35, so why no elite? The elite should be in the top 100 sold out on amazon if it was hot, right? Well it's not. GTAIV PS3 is also in the top 100 on amazon and the PS EYE...lol. Explain how the PSP, ps2, and PS3 outsold 360....and this is only america. Seriously, the revenue Sony generated in one american month is outstanding. PS3 has been outselling 360 since Christmas day....OBVIOUSLY.
