1.2 - For COD4...

I could really use this. When me and my friends are trying to get a party together, it takes a good while because while one of us is waiting for the others to finish their games, that person will usually get a quick game going and then the others are waiting for him and so on and so on. If we could send in-game messages like "game almost done. be like five minutes before I'm finished" that'd be great. Still need to be able to add friends in-game.

2.1 - I know whats taking so long?

Is this rocket science or something?

Everytime I go to play a game online with friends (COD4 and Burnout) its a pain in the arse. We basically have to call each other on cell phones if the other friend is playing something else.

This is one of the things majorly holding the PS3 back. If they could get this going and Home be the revolutionary experience they're hyping then I'll agree with the Sony fans that 2008 is their year.

it may not be rocket science, but there are a few difficulties

what Sony are doing right know is reducing the RAM consumption of the XMB so that in-game XMB doesn't take up even more space and reduce developers freedom with their games

this takes time because it's hard to optimize a program without reducing any of the features or the capabilities- they have to nit-pick all the things that aren't needed

it should come soon though, im British- so im very much used to waiting

Did you not know you could send messages in game in burnout? You cant do it while online but it takes only 2 seconds to leave online send a message and enter back online without having to quit the game.

The only ones that call it "in game XMB" would be us. Because actually, that's not what it is. All that's needed and all that Sony is actually doing is providing access to the friends list and possibly the music part of the XMB, not the whole damn thing.

We just refer to all that as "in game XMB" on account of it being shorter.

I hope this is true, my friend unrealchampion123 on 360 loves to beatdown the PSN experience since he has both to compare them. But, I always stay humble, trusting that sony will bring something like the in-game xmb and home to the table.

"Talk to others during game play" - already does this (eg. most online shooters etc.)

", say hello
anytime you’re online" - doesn't mean in game

", or have a video chat with
an Eye camera; USB Camera or headset." - again doesn't mean ingame.

it doesn't say: "During gameplay you can talk to others say hello or have video chat"

People have missread this and are seeing what they want to see rather than what it actually says.

Where does it say in-game XMB? You could always chat in-game with others as it says. Read that sentence again. Chat In-game... with others. You could always do that, what you can't do is go to your friends list and talk with friends who are playing something else in-game or not. So if that's what you guys are talking about you're over-hyping this. Obviously the in-game XMB is coming sometime but I don't see any indication of it on this cached page.

1 - They're talking about the features the PS3 already has: not in-game XMB!

We all want in-game XMB, we all know it is coming! But dont read into these words more than there is.

The page says
"Talk to others during game play, say hello
anytime you’re online, or have a video chat with
an Eye camera; USB Camera or headset."

'talk to others during play' -you can already do that in multiplayer games.

'say hello anytime you're online' -depends what they mean by 'say.' you can 'say' hello by sending a message or by having a voice-chat. You can say hello any time you go online, as long as you're not in a game.

All im saying is, this isnt proof. But in-game XMB is coming. Probably with Home. May at the latest. That's not too long now is it?!
