Devil May Cry 4 Offers Different Functionality, Not Graphics, On PS3/360

The Bitbag writes, "Even though Capcom has done an excellent job at keeping both versions very close to each other, we have been assured that there will still be different things to offer for both versions."

*cough cough* would someone like to explain to me what the Network is on the main mission screen of the game if not for overall score and achievements in the PS3 version?

http://z-o-g.org/imgs/misc/...

Also don't want to forget these...

Those links are false. The info about the article came straight from Capcom. There are no achievements in the PS3 version.

The game on PS3 has "achievements" they're called something else and they don't add to a "gamerscore".

Hence, they don't have "achievements" per se, but there is a reward system in place.

ya'll think DMC4 will later have trophies?

1.4 - @DemiseofPandas
The network features are leaderboards and so-called achivements(called "My history" in the game).
So this article is misleading a bit...

btw, I already saw a few non-japanese players in the ranking in the game. lol

1.5 - The 1up interview said both version's have achievements
and that the achievements will be the same on both consoles. The only difference is that the PS3 version will not have gamerscore points. Its nothing that PS3 users aren't used to. And the game experience itself should be great on both consoles regardless.

2 - Why in the hell would it matter?
does having the SLIGHTLY better version Really make you people feel that much more superior of your selves?
Is this your way of compensating for what you don't have?

Well know know what?
I spit on your point of view!

5 - Author Flip Flopped
The author says "The only difference I can see is in the glowing effects and the textures are slightly crisper on the 360 version."

When in fact he has no clue which version is which, and why the 360 version looks "crisper". (a reminder) It's been proven the PS3 version has motion blur enabled, which makes it REALLY hard to capture a steady detailed pic...

360
http://yoda.dip.jp/Game/DMC...

PS3
http://yoda.dip.jp/Game/DMC...

PS3 version runs at 60fps with full camera motion blur, and judging from the pics, it looks as if the PS3 version is the one with more GLOW. Also it looks like whoever took the pics knew how to setup his PS3 (like me), seeing how all the PS3 pics have darker blacks and more vibrant colors.

With the two pictures you posted I have to say that the first looks better. Sharper and if you look at the dark areas they also have more detail in the first one. Just my 5 cents.

I am looking at both pics and it looks like the ps3 shot looks more jaggy on the roofs and if you look in the windows they looked blurred as hell in the ps shot too.

The guy that wrote that crap didn't even do his researce right, the PS3 version does have achievement/rewards, just no gamer score for them.

http://www.1up.com/do/previ...

"HK: The achievements and their requirements are exactly the same. Of course, there is no 'Gamer Score' associated with achievements on PS3."

straight from the producer.

and also, from beyond 3d

http://dot50cal.the-horror....

PS3 cutscene = 45- 60 fps

360 cut scene = lock at 30 fps only.

9 - crisper doesn't actually
equal better, the whole point of anti-aliasing is to give graphics a softer more realistic feel to them. Crisp was what you got last gen from pc graphics with no AA. Why exactly is this a selling point when the sixaixs beats the dog poo out of the 360 controller for this game??

THAT is more significant.

crisper is better. anti aliasing is supposed to remove jaggies WITHOUT losing other information in the picture.
Motion blur is supposed to blur objects moving fast, not blur everything on the screen.

^^ agreed. And I can also agree, that the 360 with its eDRAM is an AA monster. But not significantly. The motion blur is correct, and in some cases also dynamic relative to the distance (longer distance more blur). And that's what its doing. In the PS3 version.

The author obviously doesn't know a goddman thing about the game. Both the PS3 and 360 versions will have the same acheivements presented in the same way.

Both versions also look identical. If you see differences you are on crack.

The PS3 Version will offer no load times as well as a special intro video chronicaling the series so far which is the only plus for either console. So the PS3 version is "superior" by default. Unless you like load times

will be great. Case closed. Why are people still submitting comparison's for this game?

Because people with both systems want to know the differences before choosing what version to pick up.
Sadly here on this site it usually does not end well. But with the new splitting of the comment sections it should not be as bad as before. Kudos to n4g staff.

I can definitely agree with that. But man, there have been so many of these things, and none of them really say anything different. I own both consoles, and it didn't take 20 different comparison articles for me to decide which one to get. About 3 was enough for me actually. But you do bring up a very good point anyway.

I agree with you about the split. Its already a lot better around here. And its good to see that people are actually trying to keep things civil.

I may have just lost interest in the series because I'm not hearing enough fresh and exciting things about 4. Besides Capcom are backstabbing liars and the 360 doesn't deserve this series.

Sorry mate but you can't call capcom backstabbing, if the dreamcast was still around DMC series would have ended up on that platform too, all you gamers are missing the point, this is business, last year Capcom was the highest earner in Japan, no order 3rd party company made such a big income, why do you think the rumour of Konami MGS coming to 360 and even (MAYBE tekken 6 mostly likely not, but business is business) Capcom has been a multiformat developer from day one. No disrespect, i don't no how old you are but the only reason the PS having a name in the gaming industry is because of Capcom RES series and Konami Silent hill and other products. The only reason the public thinks that these title are exclusive to the PS brand is because of the long running series, but this titles are always gone multiformat.

Understand this we are all free to buy what ever console we want, it is good that developers done take side and allow the public to decide for them selves, PS fans will buy PS and Xbox fans will buy 360 and the same for the WII. There are no backstabbers in the gaming industry just money hungry developer competiting with each other.

Love game play hard but never a hater.

Raiden.

I sure hope PS3 gamers aren't being screwed on this one. We don't need Achievements like the 360 but you can still include the exact same stuff in the game. Even if it doesn't award you some worthless points online it can add to replay value of the game. Burnout Paradise proves that. I hope the PS3 version at least gives PS3 gamers what Burnout did. I could care less about points but I like the idea of trying to do certain things in the game.

I think I'd side with the PS3 version for the whole "no load times" thing. Plus the PS3 version has achievements, so that's a moot point.
