Yeah the demo itself was pretty long and yet it had a lot of dialouge and cutscenes. The codec conversations alone would build up a bunch of space.

And you know that theres a lot of conversation on codecs, you could be in a dumpster and boom, eveybody starts having a conversation via codec of you on the dumpster. Even in MGS2, if you lay down on Olga's unconsious body Otacon would say "WTH are you doing with her!" lol.

Wait I misunderstood, I thought you said that it would have like 20 minutes of cutscenes and then the gameplay but your comment was pretty fanboyish... =/

its what i hear every time someone criticizes MGS for having too many cutscenes and story-driving codec conversations (which are significantly improved in MGS4 by the way)

There is such a demand for this game. A demo is not needed. I think first day sales will be alot more if there isn't a demo. Everyone who likes the series knows it's gonna be good. IMO

actually i don't mind- because as the guy in the gameplay video said (black dude with cornrows)

"i don't want to get teased by MGS, i want to bring it home and make sweet love to it"

and i agree- i want to take the full game home and savor the outstanding experience

but then again- a demo would help sales and would generate even more interest for the game so im kinda disappointed

We are all pretty much foaming at the mouth for this, anyone that is even remotly interested in this game is going to get it. I think a demo could really only hurt it, since no one is questioning if the game will be good or not, its really only........

i dont think it was ever offically confirmed, i believe it came from a magazine editor.

But im the same, i like to try a demo before i drop the cash, but im buying MGS day 1 regardless, i just want the demo so i could just play a bit of it. i NEED to play abit of it!!

honestly, cancel everyother game in 2008 and just give me MGS and id still get by with a smile on my face.

As far as story goes (which is why I played through the 1st so many times). As far as gameplay I would say 3,1,2. I really liked that you have to eat and have camo in 3. 2 was basically a rehashed version of 1, though I did like the end w/ the swords and the 'glitches'. Man, this makes me want to play through all of them again...

MGS1 is the best so far, but I can't decide on MGS2 or 3. I don't really understand why so many people "dislike" MGS2. Imo, it has best story telling of them all, and to watch Snake from another perspective (Raiden's)is just really cool. The introduction of Vamp isn't exactly a bad thing either, couse right after Liquid Snake and Grey Fox, he is my favorite character.

Payton and Kojima are beyond retarded. The want to sell a million on the first day but don't want to release a demo? It's like they're saying "We're not gonna do anything to help our sales, we're just gonna put it out there so we have an excuse to put it on 360 if it doesn't sell well." If you want to sell a game, build up the desire and momentum for consumers to WANT it.

I just think that this is such an integral game to both Konami and Sony that they should be doing their damnedest to impress people and expand the franchise to others besides those who have played the game before. This needs to be marketed as aggressively as Halo 3.

i just listened to the entire podcast, and i didn't hear a single thing like, Payton saying, "there won't be an MGS4 demo."

in fact, they don't really mention an MGS4 demo at all. they talk about certain sites making bold, and ultimately false statements, and site ZOE3 as an example, but he never says no MGS4 demo.

he simply says that the magazine was false when it said, "by the time you have this magazine in your hands, the demo will be on the PSN." which, is *QUITE FALSE, obviously. the only thing he was contesting was the magazine's declaration that you'd be playing MGS4 in February, not the existence of a Metal Gear Solid 4 demo.

so far, there have been demos for Metal Gear Solid (i got it in an issue of OPM), Metal Gear Solid 2 (came with ZOE2), and Metal Gear Solid 3 (got it in an issue of OPM).

based off of their historical precedents with demos, i'm expecting an MGS4 demo, at the very least, by the time the game releases. maybe not in February, but certainly before the game hits. i mean, there is *ALREADY a demo in *BOTH Japanese *AND English! the only thing keeping us from having the demo right *NOW, is the fact that it has to go through a certification process in order to be distributed over the PSN.

They are talking about misconceptions "clearing up false info" at the start of the show, they talk sarcasticly about being busy with a demo and lol lol lol its actually late, then they talk about the Playstation mag that confirmed the story in the first place, saying that the bold claims they made where mislead and ultimately untrue.
You dont need to be told word-for-word "there is no demo" its called 'reading between the lines'

Sales will drop, because people will see the game is overhyped.

Quick statements of the day from me (former game developer).
----------------------------- --------------------------
1. PS3's GPU holds multi platform games back. Cell will not help make graphics so much better because GFX-programming is single threaded, not parallel like Cell. So multiplatform games will always look better on XBOX. PS3 will have good games with great physics (LittleBigPlanet) but no with better GFX. Unified architecture of XBOX Xenos GPU is Nvidia 8800 level while PS3's RSX GFX is Nvidia last gen 7xxx series.
2. Sony know this. That is why they over hype and lie to their customers. But software sale shows us that customers didn't get fooled. More than expected amount of people buy PS3 for..for movies first and don't buy PS3 games.
3.SonyDefence forse is acting on this site and all over internet. That is a group of people that write great user reviews on SONY product all over internet. So be careful receiving information about SONY products. If product is bad SonyDefenceForce will make it look better than it is by posting reviews and their lying opinions at most popular internet sites.
