Shhh, Sony Has +20 Unannounced Exclusives

"Yesterday in a heated IM discussion about which of the three console makers is going to have the strongest line-up this year, a friend of mine who works at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan blurted out that Sony's internal studios have up their sleeves more than 20 yet-to-be-revealed projects for PlayStation 3.

Intrigued by this I asked if he could give me some examples. Project Siren (makers of the Forbidden Siren franchise), Team Saru (creators of the Ape Escape series) and Team ICO are three of the studios who're getting ready to reveal their new projects this year. After some more pushing, he told me that all he knows about Team ICO is that the team is working on two games, both for PS3."

Yeah that remake would be a dream come true if it looked like the tech demo. *angels sing* They seriously wouldn't need to change anything in the game since the story and gameplay is top-notch. Only people new to the series complained about the 3d character models...I think it would at least show people who didn't give FF7 a chance and preferred FF8 just because of the visual style to finally know why FF7 was so damn amazing when it first came out.

I still believe firmly that teh FF7 remake will be the next title after tehy've finished FF13, and nothing anyone could tell me will change my mind. Square-Enix and Tetsuya Nomura have already stated they're full focused on FFXIII at the moment, so anything else will have to be after.

Also, if anyones seen FFVII: Advent Children, there's a small hint in the bonus section of the dvd. The section where they sum up the psone game in 10 mins, there's a cut-scene towards the end where Cloud gets a package. The package is a sign which reads, "Closed for Business" and then the feature stops. And also FFVII: Crisis Core, at the end is says, 'To be Continued'.

But i don't need any vague clues. Im an avid FF7 fan, and like me, many others, and the creators of the game, we all know its a special game. And it can't be dropped so easily. It will be remade. And remade for the ps3 only

FF7 also shows how Cloud got into Avalanche. You have to go to the shinra mansion basement on disc 3, it shows you all that stuff about Zack, his sword and how cloud got into avalanche and the beginning of the game essentially picks up from there

Sony has about 20 internal development studios, Nintendo has around 8, and Microsoft has about 3 or 4.

The PS2 had the largest and most diverse lineup ever for a console - most PS2 owners I know still have a multi-year backlog of PS2 titles still to play or finish. And Sony has vastly expanded their internal first party development since the PS2 days. So for those 125 million PS2 owners out there the PS3 gives them all those same franchises they bought their consoles for plus a huge number of new ones in addition this gen - along with the giant graphical power advantage, BluRay, rock solid reliability, silent operation, free online with dedicated servers, etc...

This is how you win console wars:

1) Efficient and powerful hardware that you are able to dramatically cost reduce over a console generation

2) A wide array of exclusive content that appeals to a broad range of gamers in all three regions

i doubt there will be a sotc2. you kill all the colossi in the first one so don't really see where they could go w/ a sequel, unless it has nothing to do w/ the colossi. there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end of sotc (trying not to give any spoilers) but i don't see how they could continue the series w/o going in a completely different direction.

this is because sony owns a lot of 1st party developers. a lot more than xbox 360 and nintendo put together. microsoft mostly make deals with 1 franchise, and theyre done with it(halo). nintendo has a couple that makes the mario, zelda, pokemon, metroid games and whatnot. from all its 12 years cycle, sony basically collected all the talented developers around the world. even if they lose 3rd party exclusive, they still have those couple dozen of first party developers to look out for.

I think it's very likely that the "rumor" is true, several Sony studios (such as Team ICO) haven't announced games yet.

But while this does sound like great news to me as a PS3 owner, let's keep in mind that a bunch of those games most likely only will be sold over PSN and not on Blu-ray.. Can't wait to find out about more about these games tho!

whatever their other game is is just a tasty, tasty bonus. Ico and Shadow are two of my favorite games of all times. i didn't think i'd love Shadow of the Colossus more than Ico; i wasn't sure they could strike with that lighting twice, and yet i *DO love Shadow more, but it's like trying to choose between your children.

it's a no-brainer that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have unannounced games, but the difference is that Sony has more studios than MS and Nintendo, so it's obvious they'd probably have more exclusives in development.

2008 is already looking to be a rather crowded year in gaming, but i'd love to get a Team Ico game this year. the more the merrier.

i'm sure at this years E3, we'll get our first look at some of the *THIRD GENERATION PS3 titles, while we await the release of some of the high profile second generation titles (Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc).

this is going to be a great year to be a gamer.

I also own both console but my 360 crapped out last December 07. So I'm PS3 exclusive right now. I'm still looking for a repairman to fix my 360's RROD.

Sony's strategy is a little different now, the past generations they tried to have the best and the most of the third party games, now that they loosed some of them, and that there is a strong competition they are thinking about making the ps3 with more good exclusives possible, and the best and safest way to do that is to make a big group of first and second party companies that develop only for Sony, and to try to buy third party companies companies if they can or at least to have some power in these companies like the square enix where they have 10% of the shares. It is a smart move for them and the results are very good for now i see, they have the biggest first and second party support that make a lot of good and diverse games for all tastes.

i dont know about you guys- but i sure hope one of them is sly cooper 4, i know its a kids game, but its very fun and the variety in the missions is amazing

with next-gen graphics and the same enjoyable cooper gameplay this could be a hit (well with me anyway)

this article seems a little fake to me but i don't doubt that sony has unannounced exclusives just as i don't doubt ms has unannounced exclusives in the works.

can't wait to see what Team ICO has in the works. also, i want to see more on Heavy Rain.

completely off topic post., but i am compelled by recent events to make a plea to my fellow gamers.If any of you have ever taken the trouble to read any of my more recent posts you will know that i have been looking forward to getting my PS3 on the release of Wipeout. I have to say however, that recent events have put a stop to that wish. I am posting to let you know that until the ongoing WHALING debacle is resolved in a peaceful and meaningful way ,i will be boycotting the purchase of any Japanese produced products.I know many of you will already be scoffing at this protest, but i feel duty bound to make an attempt to protect in any way possible the beauty of the planet and all living things.Yes, i know whale killing has been going on for years, but now is the time to make yourself heard.I know this hunting is not the will of the majority of the Japanese people, but their government ignores them to pander to the few and the 'old' ideas they try to preserve.Ignore me if you wish, join me if you can, but either way, please if you can,find in your heart or mind some way to register your disgust at this barbaric practice.I humbly thank you for reading, though i know this is not a political forum,i have in the past found many enlightened posters amongst my fellow gamers, thanks again.

I wonder what games are these, and when will they announce them, and also when they will be released, maybe they wait the mid 2008 to announce the next 2009 line-up making in this way the PS3 even more attractive for the next years. this is a thing that Microsoft should learn, to try to distribute their best games in many years and not concentrate everything in one year and remain with almost nothing later, they failed to provide the "Perfect Storm" that they announced that will kill off the PS3. I'm not saying that they didn't bring good games, but they didn't think a lot about the 360's future, but only about the present, only the here and now........well, NOW that thing became PAST
