Ratchet & Clank Future 2 confirmed with story hints

In a recent interview with developers from Insomniac Games, they were asked about things they had to cut from Ratchet & Clank Future, which results in them giving some interesting hints at Ratchet & Clank Future 2.

To quote: "There were certain things in the story, characters that I wanted to address more in this part of the story arch that we're not going to address until a later part of the story arch. And more of the background with the Lombaxes and what happened to them. It's things we hint at. The Zonie and the history of the Zonian and who they are."

Man Insomniac is crazy.... Resistance 2 is further than we know riht now.. it was being worked on well before Ratchet one was finished. I can't wait. Insomniac games are so good. Resistance 2 is gonna have vehicles u can fly. 40 person multiplayer ans run at twice the speed as Ratchet :future tools of destruction. Wow
Guess what guys... you can absolutel GUARANTEE this will have multiplayer!!

yea all games takes at least 8 months to build.

I predict it will be released mid 2009. PS3 will have plenty of exciting games beforehand.

Well you gotta think about it. Due to many games being in primary dev for PS3. i.e. not run on unreal engine or havok but built from the ground up it takes longer. The engine for ratchet is built a long with many games... However ehrn they try to start God of War 3 that will be a wait just like Resident evil 5 is and many others. if they use the same framework it could be rather quick imho...

Every Insomniac games has been a year from each other since 03. That means 08! Look: Resistance-2006 Ratchet and Clank-2007 Ratchet and Clank 2-2008. Insomniac is one of best PS3 devs.

futre 2 will be heads and sholders above TOD, and i personally cant wait. They have done a game a year and you can see improvements over the previous. i wonder if Resistance 2 will look better than KZ2 ^^ my word... insomniac has me worried... to fathom how they came from resistance a standard Next gen game that ran circles around most of the 360's second year titles to a game like Ratchet with graphics that rivaled Pixar in quality. i'm scared to think how much they will have known the PS3 to the point where getting pixar graphics and above will be no sweat, and considered childs play to them. what will be the enxt level for them... damn it man Insomniac for the win.

SONY has a DREAM TEAM when it comes to development, nobody can compete with the talent and quality Sony first party studios can produce. This alone ensures the PS3's eventual victory.

Great news, even though I knew it was coming. I loved Ratchet & Clank Future and I can't wait to play this one. In fact, I have loved the R&C games since the first one.

But I do find it funny that they have almost made as many R&C games in the last six years or so than Nintendo has made core Mario games in the last 20. Yet you don't see anyone getting upset at Insomniac for milking the franchise.

Ratchet & Clank,Going Commando,Up Your Arsenal,Deadlocked,Future,Futu re 2

I don't count handheld games, which is why I didn't mention Size Matters or the Super Mario Land games.

I just find it ironic due to the amount of Nintendo hate for milking franchises when other companies are not help to the same standard. (AKA Square-Enix and EA being the worst franchise milkers out there.)

At this rate Insomniac will have surpassed Nintendo's mascot in core games in about three years or so. That is quick work. Not that I'm complaining though, since as long as they make them, I'll play them. :)

Then you haven't played the series, which are superbly written and a blast to play. Plus as far as humor goes, there are times when I'll laugh out loud playing them, which I don't do with video games.

Wasn't Crash Bandicoot one of Sony's headlining franchises of the PS1, as well as Spyro and Gex.

Man I loved Gex 1 & 2.

So R&C is overrated. What, and Halo 3 isn't? I mean, come on! Ratchet and Clank may not look realistic, but it does look good, and very stylised. Halo 3, on the other hand, looks like it could have been achieved two to three years ago. I believe the term they use is "Halo 2.5", which is about right.
If you're going to make a comment about overrated games, mentioning Halo 3 is NOT a good idea.

Insomniac have to be one of the hardest-working developers at the moment. I mean, a brilliant game for the ps3 EVERY YEAR? I don't think people appreciate just how hard that is to do.

Tools of destruction was incredibly awesome. It's my favorite game right now. My hype is directed at Resistance 2 though. They're do some amazing stuff with that game.

Very welcome news. I'm happy that underwhelming sales (so far) have not deterred development of the sequel. This series has remained fresh and enjoyable over the years. In fact, if they re-release all the prior installments with improved visuals for the PS3 (it would all fit on a single BluRay disk), I would buy them all over again. Imagine playing R&C, Up Your Arsenal, etc. with the graphics of Tools of Destruction. Heck, that would also work for Jak and Daxter.
