The Orange Box for PS3 due Dec - Rumoured '08 delay or cancellation untrue

Many PS3 gamers have been anxious for news on the status of The Orange Box for their console, but EA hasn't been too forthcoming. With the Xbox 360 and PC versions doing incredibly well, PS3 gamers have a reason to feel a little left out.

Well, the waiting is almost over. An EA representative has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that the PlayStation 3 version of the Valve compendium will hit European stores in December, although an exact release date is still to be determined.

Well, I'm keen to see how the game is handled on PS3. Given past efforts by EA, I'll admit I'm not full of hope; but, given recent releases, and the quality of them on PS3, it'll be hard to justify a poor port, so PS3 users may be in for a real treat.

If I were to follow your example, I'd be as well to state the Xbox version of UT3 (which will come far later than the PS3 iteration) will be rubbish as it won't support all the same functions as the PS3 version.

As we both know, that statement about UT3 is as true as your statement regarding the Orange Box.

i wish they would stop overloading the PS3's December! Now i know i cant get this game, and seeing how next year is stacking up, I may never be able to get it until its in the bargain bin.

I don't mind so much. A good game's a good game, even if you pick up a used copy 6 months after it's released. Just think of all the great releases you'll be able to pick up during the inevitable summer slowdown at bargain bin prices. I finally picked up Oblivion last month for $30. Sure it's been out for a while, but it's new to me. I just hope they do a good port. Why Valve chose EA is beyond me.

There's a lot of forces against this one because there's EA (remember how bad Madden and Skate got gimped) and then there's Gabe, who doesn't care about the PS3. I have this game on the PC and its amazing, you guys should really buy it if you haven't and don't say you don't care. It beats the crap out of Haze, UT3 and many other shooters coming out this year.

I'm waiting to see which version will be the better of the two. For one, its EA porting the game to the PS3. Two, there hasn't been any media released to the public (screens and videos). It makes you question the quality given its about a month away. I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed this title to January or early February given the number of titles fighting for shelf space in December on the PS3.

To be honest I already have more than enough on my plate. They can release it later I dont mind. COD4 ,Uncharted , UT3 ,Assassin's Creed , Haze , WipeoutHD and countless other PSN + retail titles are/will be available. I see purely no reason to buy a game which is destined to be the WORSE port of game out there (mark my word ). I'd suggest anyone who didnt play it to play on a PC. you dont need to buy a 2000$ PC to play it. I'm pretty sure most of your current pc will play it nicely. And cheap too.

With EA`s track record, i think it should have benefited from more development time (even though it got a bit more than the other versions, a 2008 release would be better), even though that`s not usually EA`s style.

I think it`s too bad if this is another crappy port, because HL2 and the other stuff the Orange Box offers is still quality, despite it`s age. It`s also great value. If it`s not properly done, it will definitely be killed by games like CoD4, UT3 and perhaps Haze. Therefore i hope PS3 owners can get a complete experience from EA this time around, but i have my doubts...

If the game needs a delay but doesn't get one to release this year, that just means that EA is gonna give us a crappy half assed port. With EA's track record, it looks like they could do just that. Which is why PS3 owners should buy Orange Box on black friday for the PC for $25.
