Uncharted Drake's Fortune demo seems to be locked for U.S Only

Yup, the new demo for Uncharted Drake's Fortune seems to run only on U.S console regarding new post on Neogaf forums. PS3 are freezing with a black screen or they ask you to insert a disc.
Maybe it's just a bug, who knows ?

Here there is one post illustrating the problem

I'm in taiwan with a 6ogb NTSC ps3 and when I run the demo it just plays the Playstation splash screen and stays black.

Saying a lot since I really hated most of the demos on the PSN Store.

The Cover System + Fighting is awesome. It's not Heavenly Swords Cutscen like quality damn is it still nice to watch him do some stuff.
It basically has a lot of what they talked about in terms of features. you get to use the SIXAXIS for walking across the log [Gimmicky but still fun] and use it to give a trajectory for the grenade. Guess what? There's JUMP in this ps3 game lawlz.

Oh, one awesome thing is when he gets wet, his shirt and pants get drench. you actually see it!

The only problem i had downloading a demo was with bioshock..and if you remember it was announced on a tv show that the demo was available so many went and DL'D it...but after awhile it wad accessible...

I had the same issue's with the Bioshock demo, the Skate demo, the Colin Mcrae demo, pretty much any popular demo.

If you have a fast connection and hit it at the right time, you might be lucky, but otherwise you're f*cked. But yes, after a day or two when the network traffic goes down again it's back to normal. But you'd expect them to fix this after so many times, but no! Ms doesn't give a sh*t.

MS is just as bad as Sony with "screwing up something positive".

I turned off 720p and try to let it run only at 1080i. when it did that, the game goes to a black screen. I guess it's not meant to run at 1080i. so if you're TV doesn't at least do 720p you may be screwed. IDK.

as it stands, anybody having a PS3 other than US should stop trying to download. U`re just hurting yourselves by doing so and slowing down the Legit people that can experience it. Mine is HK and same happens, blank screen with insert disc gamne message (just hold the Home PS to quite game).
As a token, the US gamers that had the chance of playing it, give us a very detail and objective report of how it is PLS.

We don`t know yet if its a lock (though it clearly looks like it) or something else happening.
Anyhow, pass on, just throw in VF so you can get ur nerves showing on a game.

it seems more like a bug to be honest, no dev would ever let your machine go blackscreen or throw a erro rlike insert disk, it really looks like a bug and the ps3 looking for localized files and then hangs, files that are stored in certain (off sony dictated) file/folder structures.

Maybe it's because of the PAL NTSC thing, wait and see.

But releasing the 2.0 update and Uncharted demo at almost the same time has put a serious strain on the PSN.

It will be better in a short while, it only means every PS3 owner from Island to South Africa is trying to download the demo.

And that begs the question why we outside US "must wait", when clearly everyone just sets up a second account with the US PSN.

This isn't the regular whining, this is an outrage. An outrage coming from the deepest core of the PlayStation fanbase. They've been eargerly anticipating this demo, and when they finally get it, its locked. And the fact that if they are forced to stick to the Euro Store from now on, there will only be decent updates every 6th months.

Sony have not delivered. I can say that as a very casual gamer who enjoys gaming as a time-killing hobby, and by chance has a PS3 because the PlayStation brand used to be a lot of fun. The fact that I have to make fake alter-egos just to get to use my PS3 for SOMETHING is really not a good thing, no matter how you view it.

"Oh, go play CoD4, go play this or that." That's not the point, the point is that people have been waiting for THIS title, and are denied the rights to enjoy it, from one day to the other. Simple as that.

it took me a half hour just to get into the PS store and then another 20 mins just to get the download started. EXACTLY for this reason. US servers are meant for US PS3 owners. ALl you guys are doing is crashing the network and not letting anyone DL the game. I know it sucks but hopefully this stems the tide of people around the world trying to DL from US servers.

on a personal note I do feel bad for Euro PS3 owners as they get the shaft the most. Screw the japs who can't DL this as they get games MONTHS in advance anyway.

Everyone realise that a demo in Europe is now defunct, useless. The game releases in the US on the 19th. The demo in Europe will come out after that. Hence a demo is useless.

Insomniac helped with those who were downloading the ratchet demo from the US store...everyone knows we do it. It's allowed, it's one of the reasons the PS3 was made region-free.

The "lighting" in this game is ridonculous...

I got used to the aiming a lil bit even though I hate PS3 and shooting games because of the controller.

The jumping in this game is fairly accurate. The water fall/water looked amazing on my set. Except I notice that there was some times when a horizontal line went through the top on my screen, well its very fast , I'm not sure what that is, almost like a cut.

Playing the DEMO and walking through the jungle gosh I miss my woman, when do you get to see her again?

This game is looking good, it won't be a first day buy for me as I have too many game son my plate.

when people say Sony has done so much for gaming. All they have done is make hardware that's hard to program for. Causing developers to spend more time figuring out how to get their games to run on it instead of spending time making great games. More time on tech BS, less on creativity. Like a car with the most powerful engine in the world and a Yugo transmission and rear end. All that power and no way to get it where it needs to be. I've had my PS3 for a week and with one game, since my 360 will get most play this x-mas but Yeah I played it and since you cannot compare it to any other games in terms of "adventure tomb raider" style games out there.

The lighting in this game is quite nice.

Controls are on par, I think and I hate the PS3 controller with any game that involves shooting. I wouldn't buy a FPS on PS3 but I can handle this game after a lil while.

Like most games like this it is linear with Hints at where to go when your stuck looking around. I'm playing folklore and that game while I'm enjoying it, it is the definition of "linear" and invisible walls.

It does have Gears of War like Cover system, but not as rigid and more fluid but then again Marcus Feenix looks like they are carrying 60+ pounds with there suit and armor, so Gears has that feel, well just heavy.

I didn't purchase APS3 for these types of games ,well mainly fighting and RPG. I play FPS's and such on the 360. It's about the Controller, but I might buy this game much later on. I'm not that starved for games at the moment. about GOTY, with games like Bioshock, Mass Effect still coming out, and who knows Halo 3 made history, it will be tough. Naughty is going against "Seasoned Vet Develoeprs".

I think they are working on something quick. This is good news.

@Double Edge: It's very good. The textures on the surroundings are the sharpest I've ever seen in a game. The character animations are the best I've seen in a game. The only competition I see in this field is Assisins Creed. The level of polish is phenomenal. When you walk under a waterfall the sound actually becomes more deeper it actually feels and sounds like you are under a waterfall. Odd rocks will crumble and the sound it makes when it hits the ground is amazing. The ragdoll physics is better the COD4. The lighting isn't as dynamic though. My only complaint is the absence of a crouch button....At least I couldn't find one. It's the only demo I've play though 4 times in a row just to see the graphics. It is that good.

I hope you Europeans get this soon. SOny messed up with this one. BIG TIME.

Unfortunately, the delay in the non-North American enjoyment of the Naughty Dog adventure can simply be chalked up to Uncharted's release date in its respective territories. Cold comfort, I know.

So like I said above, for whatever reason, they want to release the demo a certain time before the game releases. I dont know why, but its not for us to set their strategy so just accept it.

Anyway, why isn't everyone still playing COD4 or GH3?

Ok, I got the demo. With the overload of the PSN with both the firmware 2.0 and Drake's it took me 5 hours!

Was it worth it? YES

The good:
- Unbelievable light/shadowing. Trees casts shadows on everything, even on bushes, etc. Gun fire also lights up
- Awesome graphics
- Drake's cloths DO get wet. They take some time to dry up. Not great but shows the detail Naughty Dog put into the game
- The cover system is the best I've ever played on any 3rd person game. Better than Gears of War.
- AI is awesome. I played Hard and got my ass kicked pretty often. This on the first level, rofl
- Some interesting bits I noticed from the AI:
- Enemies react to where you shoot them. I shot a guy in the leg and he kept holding the leg until I killed him. Would even walk like holding it. Shot another in the chest and his hand went to the EXACT spot I shot him at. Pretty awesome IK animations.
- Enemies are very smart taking cover and popping in other places or running for better cover
- They also come down to you and shoot/melee you when you stay in the same place too long
- I shot an enemy that was going to throw me a grenade and he reacted to the shot and threw the grenade up in the air. Ended up hurting himself and killing his buddy. Used that same tactic later on to kill to 2 nasty dudes that where not letting me hit them at all.

The bad:
- Just like Ratchet's demo the frame rate has some issues (tearing). Hope that they fixed them since the demo (Ratchet release runs at a solid 60FPS but the demo had some tearing and frame rate drops when the buildings where collapsing)
- Throwing grenades takes a little getting used to

Going back to play... but as far as I can see it's definitely shaping up to be the best PS3 title yet. This including Ratchet and CoD4. Yes, it looks that good.

AI: I thought the AI was very smart and I noticed little things like when one of the guys was trying to throw a grenade at me I shot him in the hand and he dropped it and blew himself up. That was cool.

I am totally convinced that this is going to be another AAA title for the PS3. Sony definately has another hit on it's hands with Uncharted.

The lead character, Nate, has a lot more personality than I thought. The graphics are jaw-dropping, and the enemies act almost like human opponents (it almost feels like you're playing online).

The biggest letdown of the demo was when it ended. I thought Nate was going to run into that stupid chick that kept filming everything on the plane.

I feel bad for everyone that can't download it yet; they are missing out on a great game. I am totally picking up Uncharted and Assassin's Creed together.

the demo was freaking awesome. it even looks and play better than ratchet and clank tod, and that is saying a lot... i haven't seen any game like this, the graphics is amazing(especially when drake got wet in the river and you could actually see his shirt and pants drenched with water) and the way he moves its really life like and of course the gameplay is tight and sweet. i thought i was gonna have a problem with shooting mechanics of the game but to my surprise it was right on the money. its easy getting used to it. just with the demo that i've played a while ago this game is gonna be "GAME OF THE YEAR". peace out dudes!
