This guy is calling the whole demo a mess because he didn't think the tutorial was well placed?
I suppose it's entirely possible that the demo did suck, but it would have been nice if he had explained exactly why he thought it did. He doesn't really say a damn thing about the game except that it's easy...in the first level...and he doesn't like that they don't throw a tutorial at you right away.

It is really hard to compare any console game to the PC version. It all depends on what kind of computer you have. Not everyone can afford the top of the line computer just for gaming. It is much cheaper to buy a PS3 considering how much it would cost to get the same gaming experience on a PC. If you do not have a great gaming PC then it is probably better on the PS3. If you have a top of the line gaming PC then it might be better than the PS3's version.

I mean I was ITCHING to play Jericho because it looked awesome but when the demo came out it well...if the game is going to be like that then it's a total failure. The animations are poor, it's too damn dark in certain areas. The concept of a 5 man team is cool but again, it doesn't work. Clive Barker will not be getting any of my money and HAZE doesn't look like they are neither. Why do you care? I'm a PS fan, never had an XBOX. I guess I'm not as hard as games on graphics as you are. Crysis looks amazing...compared to that, the game looks decent..but I wouldnt say the game is "horrible". That's just too harsh...looking boring and generic because it's a FPS and has the little nectar feature then maybe, but graphics-wise I've seen alot worse in recent games. The only reason I care, and you didnt have to add what kind of fan you are...but you sound like any other critic of a PS3 game. If the game doesn't look like Killzone 2 then it's a flop. If this game looks horrible, I really want to know what makes a game looks even average to some people..

Actually, I was pretty surprised by the Jericho demo. Its not my genre, but I had fun to play the demo. It was surprisingly good, IMO. I had some trouble with the other team members (so, no comment on game play), but the character "mechanic" was OK, visuals, too. Quality of animations and visuals also (fluid and nicely rendered with nice light effects). Sometimes a demo can make an impression.

I haven't played Haze, yet. The videos and screenshots look promising. Eventually the hands on will let me decide (either a demo or a rent-to-keep).

I've seen it in motion on a tv channel. Looked like jerkfest. Probably at some places it was running @ 20fps. The A.I was stupid and the guy cud go behind most enemies and hit them with the drug injections. Nothing special in this one move along.

Edit: Firstknight u missed Timeshift, Area 51 etc. Timeshift demo was much better than what we see from the vids and pics of haze.

My point is that Haze will fall in the middle of the rest of the FPS that has averaged an 8. There are literally TONS of them. The Darkness, Prey, Resistance, Fear, etc... All of these games are good FPS and Haze will be just another one in the mix. But it will never reach the top of the mountain like Bioshock, Halo 3, or Half Life 2.

You are right, there are a ton of good games coming. And you might also be right, that they might fall into the 8 category. Why ? I don't know. I think 9+ requires a marketing backup, it does not really say anything about the real quality of a game. Especially if you bring Bioshock or Halo, two of the most overrated games ever (well, the first one, I don't know why, the second, well, yes, because its called "Halo").

I just think all games 8+ are playable. Enjoy what you like. Currently the reviewers will have a challenge. First, its hard, they cannot give all those games a 10, and then, a 10 is reserved for special "customers" (it seams). So, well, we'll see how that turns out. And then, there are really a ton of games coming out. They will fill the market until early 2008, IMO. If Haze is not absolute trash, it will replace my Graw2. Actually, I am also curious to see how TimeShift plays, or Area51 (which reminds me a little bit of followup to Resistance), or Army of Two (looks great as well), or Mercenaries 2 (2008), Frontlines (? when's that due ?), and yes, the other category is UT3 and CoD4. (Actually, a Haze for $49 would probably outsell CoD4 @ $59 - they should be more flexible with their price, IMO).

Well the Sony fanboys have alot of hatred for the Halo Trilogy. Especially now since Halo 3 met and exceeded all the hype with record breaking sales and is rated higher than any ps3 game to date. So it's no surprise that they try to hype up this Halo clone and calling it a AAA title. But after a month of its release the game will completely dissapear and be another FPS picking up dust at Blockbuster.

Haze has a few cool ideas but the whole nectar thing is stupid. Haze to me reminds me of a combination of Halo and Far Cry.

With so many great FPS out there and with super killer games like COD4... there will be little time to play "just another FTP"... so, this game better be a AAA... nothing less.. we've reach the point where gamers can pick the game they want to play..

If a demo wasn`t good this close to release, because they can only correct so much in such a limited time period, as the problems highlighted with Lair proved. It was to be said that the game got very mixed reviews too, so i guess it was a like or hate it, kind of game.

With that said, this wasn`t exactly a preivew i would base too much on because :

- 1. I have never heard of the site which is doing the preview (WHAM Gaming ???)
- 2. The preview wasn`t that good written or elaborate about the problems.

If IGN or Gamespot had said this, i would be worried. Until then i`ll wait for some reviews before concluding what kind of game Haze is. I think UT3 will be better personally, but also think Haze will be fine.

Judging from what I have seen there has not been a whole lot to fuss over. We all know the PS3 could use a pick me up in the game department. So I really see why PS3 fans pump every game and if you were in their shoes you would do the same.

Any time I see a good game I want to play it. The only thing that can kill Haze is HAZE. If the controls are off, or if the animations look ridicules, or if the story line and features like nectar seem tacked on or gimmicky. None of us will really know that until it is released.

The guy in the article does seem to have extremely high expectations but judging from the post in this thread, PS3 owners and FAN boys have the same High expectations also. The ingredients for a flop? Lets see here, we only have to wait a few weeks to find out.

What I don't understand is how people can say that HAZE is a generic FPS but yet so is HALO 3(I have HALO 3 and that is why I know you can check my gamertag if you don't believe me). HALO 3 bought nothing new or innovative as a FPS but yet people love it and it is fun, the graphic are bad and yet people want to down play HAZE.

The graphics for HAZE is better then HALO 3 and if anyone thinks other wise then you need to get your eyes checked out right away, but everyone will say that HALO 3 isn't about the graphics it's about the game play well the same can be said for HAZE. it looks ok, nothing special, halo was nothing special either. seriously. same crap I've been playing since halo 2. and if thats the maximum graphics 360 can do then ps3 will win guy, like gears looked good cause it was a small space and few enemies compared to resistance. anyways haze looks pretty cool, probably an average score of 7 - 8.5. but heck, halo 3 got good reviews because everyone gave good reviews. no one mentioned the 640p graphics cause in their mind it doesn't matter. everyone says its good so lets give it a 9.6. no I'm not jealous of the score. call me crazy but i enjoyed resistance more than halo. insomniac just has crazy ideas and the weapons were more fun. anyways haze isn't my first choice to buy a game this season, thats reserved for assassin's creed. but it does look cool

Actually, as a metaphor this is more actual then ever in these days. Extend that a little bit more into politics and lobbying and you'll get the point. In a time where more and more data are collected, it gives people power, who control these data. This is something which is going on right now. This site is over run by delusional sony fans. The amount of virtrol they project against the Xbox 360 -- and *any* exclusive game, is only matched by the desperation and self-affirming fabrictions they construct to spin PS3 into success.

They *do* know that Sony made too many mistakes; poor architecture, bad toolkit/development chain, bad PSN, bad firmware, no software, poor download game selection, lack of rumble, high-price point, 12-months late, not enough choice/price diversity and too much interst in pushing proprietary Movie/Music format.. and on and on.

PS3 fans remind me of Amiga fans from the days of old. Too much emotion and devotion, and not enough sober reflection. All you have to do is look at the sales numbers, the Xbox 360 is CRUSHING the rest of the market in sales -- the reason is that more and more people have *already* recognized that the writing is on the wall for the PS3. The market has shifted, the PS3 will finish as an "also ran".

I expect to see a PS4 in 30 months.

To people who post these fanboyish blurbs as reviews... Devs work really hard to give us good quality games. And I include in this Halo 3, Forza, GT, MGS4, KZ2, Lair, Warhawk etc.

If you want to post "reviews", please first test their hard work fully before typing away and posting. They deserve at lease fair comment - and what we see in this "review" is not it.

Yeah the more technically orientated will like the frame rate, resolution like the Halo 3 640p and the GT5 not fully 1080p, but that should not form the basis of any review. It is just interesting side info.

If Halo3 plays great, looks great, then that is what I would like to hear. The tech info is sideshow. Posting your personal dislike of a specific element of the game and basing your whole "review" on it to knock it - lame. Dishonest. Low life POS. Give the devs their dues - they are the ones who give us hours of entertainment with their hard work - and fat little 14 yo with loyalty to platforms who tries to rip apart and spew BS over titles not on their platform or genre should go to bed early.

I did not read through all the comments to see. I played a demo of HAZE at PAX and I was not impressed at all. It was a 4 person co-op demo. The graphics on the two stages we played were really bland. One stage had us in some sort of driving vehicle (much like a jeep or something) with one person driving and everybody else shooting. The second stage took place in a building complex with multiple floors.

I know it was just a demo but the stages they showed at PAX was not the best choice in my option. I've seen pictures of a level that takes place in a jungle and I wish that was in the demo instead. The AI was not completely brain dead but they were easy enough where if the PR guy behind didn't remind me about the nectar then I would not have used it at all. On that note the nectar grenades I think I only used once. I think the reason for that was because the stage we were on at the time was close quarters. Which now that I think about it I'm not sure if the nectar grenades effect your buddies if they go off by them, at the time that's what I thought.

I really did not like the demo at PAX, it did not make me want to pick up the game at all. With that said though it was just a demo!! Things change all the time and nothing is set in stone. One thing to remember about previews from big name sites, that there are not many bad big game name previews at all. The reviews of a big name game may say that the game is crap but if you go back and read the previews that were done some months or weeks before it does not reflect that at all.

I'm hoping this game will turn out good. With UTIII looking like it might miss it's date. HAZE maybe the only game on the PS3 this year to support 4 person co-op.

i read on the playstation forums that its and early build, and also a contributing factor to the games being pushed back a week to the 27th. free radical is going to make this game right, no worries. if anything that guys early review helps us get a better ps3 EXCLUSIVE!

He even say at the end that he didn't play the multi player and that the game still has a good chance for give HALO a run for it's money. And i got to say, is that Haze looks amazing!! It was butter smooth. The way the helicopters throw the lounge chairs into the pool at the resort....priceless....and the way the rebels can steal a mantel soldiers gun.....priceless!

The animation in this game is better than Halo 3...at least from videos.
