A listen to the latest episode of the 1UP Yours podcast reveals that the rumbling DualShock 3 is "confirmed," at least according to 1UP's lead Sony fanboy, Shane.

well to be perfectly honest all fanboy antics aside i have both consoles and i personally prefer playin on the 360 simply because of the greater variety of games. However recently i have warhawk to play, graw 2 which i played the demo on 360 and rumble would greatly enhance the game play then heavenly sword. This is the most fun i have had with my ps3 period. As more games come in i no doubt will have more fun. However i have been having fun without rumble and i will continue to. However rumble does enhance gameplay in some instances and i honestly cant't wait to see it in games like heavenly sword, warhawk and graw. 360 fanboys who are here can be jolly all they want and try to pull ps3 news dwn in the usual immature manner. I for one am excited about 2 things. If they include firmware 2.0 with in game xmb, a release date for home that is very close and rumble then 360 wnt be getting much play anymore. Nope, it's touchsense, and it is next-gen. Different parts of the controller can rumble independently and at different levels of intensity depending what going on in the game.

I'd like to see some sort of swap program implemented by Sony but I doubt it.. In the end it'll nice to have some sort of rumble being supported again. There's nothing like the MOHA demo on the 360 with rumble! I couldn't get over how well they implemented it.

I would compare it to the likes of analog vs digital.

Monkey, touchsense's marketing bulletpoint is that it does not interfere at all with motio sensing equipment. It's ideal for placement in the Sixaxis.

Also, the shaking from different areas means, if you get hit from the left, the left handle and stick will jolt! If you're firing a machine gun, the vibrations will be in sync with the fire a they shock the right handle first and you feel the recoil travel from the right to the left. Just think about the rumble being an indicator of what's going on screen, it can simulate just about anything, it really i next-gen rumble. All the people who've tried it have wrote favorable first impressions.

PS3 is next gen 2.0, Xbox 360 is last gen 1.5 The 360 is still a good console though to play used games from Gamestop for $25 like Dead Risings, and Gears of War but the last game I bought on the 360 was Lost Planet then I figure why buy anything on the 360 new anymore. I have both system so just buy the PS3 versions or wait til it comes out because with all the issues with the 360 it may not be around much longer. Plus Sony has better exclusives and more of them. Now Rumble is back and will enhance the Shooter experience. We miss you Rumble.

I really don't feel screwed at all, they're reintroducing a technology in the system in the duration of it's lifespan. I didn't mind when it happened with the PS1 (Like X-Box 360 owners say when it comes to multiple disks, "I didn't mind switching cd's in the PS1 days, I don't mind it now, etc"), and I don't mind it happening now. Better late then never, I held off on buying a controller because I new a rumble controller was coming the moment they settled with Immersion.

does it really matter? U can turn on your 6axis if the game uses the feature and if it use rumble you can pull out your new rumble contorller..

this is all about shooters and GT prolouge. Those are the two types of games that rumble really makes the game play feel more realstic. I guess hitting the ruble strips in GT5 will still be a feature and thats a great thing.

Sony could not give us rumble at first because they were in a lawsuit with the company that created the rumble. They did not wait to release a new controller just to make more money. Sony couldnt delay the whole console just for rumble but now that the case is settled they can release it. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. So whoever thinks they are being cheated should get a brain. Cannot see how you would feel cheated - you knew what you were buying. I personally would feel annoyed - Sony said it wasn't possible to do Rumble and Sixaxis but anyone with a brain knew that was BS. Frequencies are completely different.

So about all you could feel is annoyed that Sony lied about the reason - which was they didn't want to pay money to Immersion (and indirectly MS). If Sony had settled up front everyone would be enjoying rumble from the beginning.

Still, glad to see rumble is coming back - PS3 owners deserve full functionality. Now the ports from the xbox 360 should play more realistically on the PS3.

I was just about to cancel a lot of games I was planning on getting for PS3 and just getting them for Xbox 360 because of rumble.

So now I can go back to getting some of these games for PS3 since rumble will be there. I mean can you really play Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat without rumble, I'm in the beta on 360 and it's amazing, the game is so good, it's unreal, I mean seriously. Come on' it's a shooter. You need that rumble.

To have no rumble is like going back to the stone age of gaming. For me rumble is a must have. I have to feel the gun firing, I'm just to use to it now, and to me Resistance Fall of Man would have been that much sweeter if it had rumble. -it wasn't bad, but man would it have been sweet to have the feel.

rumble is being added because MS uses rumble as a selling point. So sony is putting it back in to take away that supposed advantage. And rumble can be a useful feature for games. Also saying it was last gen was just how they put a positive spin on a bad situation (which every company does). They had to resolve the lawsuit to get permission to do rumble and the extra time is probably going to pay off. this is going to be a pretty advanced rumble system. And as for missing it...i cant remember once thinking i wasnt going to buy a ps3 because it didnt have rumble. And as far as being excited that its being added. can you blame anyone for being excited when a feature is added or brought back. If motion controls get as popular as rumble did, youll get a motion system for xbox and youll be all over it too.

Kill zone takes 2GB at least for each level, even with compression you would be able to fit more when compared to the 360. The Xbox 360 may have a few good games now...but in a years time it will be old hat......There simply is not enough space on 10 year on DVD-9 technology.

also xbox 360 does not have Harddrive standard.

also xbox 360 does not have HD-DVD or bluray standard
also you have to pay $50 a year for Xbox live gold.
also you can not replace the xbox 360 harddrive with a standard 2.5 inch sata drive.

And lets do not even talk about the gimped wii...that system is all about the controller...it will come into its owned though.

All microsoft has to do is fix the hardware, put in HD-DVD drive standard, with built in wifi....and they are in business..

Actually, I hope they still have the sixaxis tech in it (which I don't think has been fully realized yet). I think the motion sensitivity along WITH the rumble feature would compliment each other, rather than each feature on their own. Combined, both features could makes for some pretty immersive games. The only downfall to this is that if they do it, each controller would probably cost 50.00 a pop.

Sony was in trouble with a lawsuit for rumble when they released the PS3. They made it sound like they knew what we wanted and decided to not give us rumble. However, it is obvious that the general public has spoken and heads at Sony have changed thus opening up ears on their part to listen to their fan base. More people want it than people that do not. So, they are going to give rumble back. Is that a bad thing? The only thing that makes me laugh is that now the MS fanboys will have yet another slam taken away from their arsenal.

I don't know why everyone is so shocked by this. Most consoles have gotten a new controller in their lifetime. PS1 had no rumble, then the dualshock. Xbox had that abomination of a controller that my mammoth hands couldn't even manipulate well. The NES had so many different controllers it wasn't even funny. Sony is releasing a new controller. Who cares? Personally I've only notices once that rumble wasn't there, and that was with a racing game. If we good it back, alright, but I wasn't going to cry myself to sleep at night knowing there was no rumble, like some people do.

One of the (minor) reasons I've been holding off getting a PS3 is because it seemed so obvious they would eventually add rumble (especially when they started clearing stock by bundling 2 SIXAXIS with the PS3). It may be a small thing, but I think rumble is important to some games, and I didn't like the idea of buying an 'incomplete' console.

If they can start bundling the Dualshock 3 with the console by the time Ratchet and Drakes is out I'll be picking up a PS3 finally!
