Gran Turismo 5 Prologue gets a pricetag and 'GT TV'

Sony Computer Entertainment BeNeLux today announced a estimated price for the Blu-ray Disc-version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which will be released in december. The BD-version will cost you 45 euro's, according to Sony.

Sony emphasized that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is actually a full game, like Warhawk. With 40 cars, 5 tracks, 1080p graphics, 60 frames per second and a whole new online world for up to 16 people, this game is worth 45 euro's. Sony will also introduce a new feature, called GT TV. Here, you can download tv-shows about cars. These programs will be localised, so England for example will get Top Gear and The Netherlands will get for example Veronica's 'De grote Beurt'.

I bought Crackdown but did'nt join the Halo 3 beta since I'm not much for online gaming. What I got was a superb game that I still play. It had all options a full game should have and I still play it from time to time.

Crackdown is Crackdown. It's not Crackdown Prologue with one city part, 2 agents and 4 different weapons. Lol.

Creds to Sony though, they know that a lot of PS3 owners would buy a sack of sh#t if it had the Playstation logo on it.

45 Euros seems a lot, but for a full game it is 60 Euros, so I expect this to be about £25-30 in UK, probably $45 is US. Also it is a full game and has 16 player online play, GT TV sounds great good for us in UK, we get on of the greatest Car shows ever, Top Gear.

If it's a full game, then why is it called Prologue? Are they gonna release GT 5: Epilogue after GT5 is out? The first pages of a novel can contain a prologue, but never in my entire life have I encountered a novel that only consisted of a prologue.

Even so I will wait for a review to see whether it is worth buying, but I will definitely get the full game whenever that is released

Prologue is not something new for the GT series. They had a GT3 Prologue and a GT4 Prologue. They are full games, just not the final product. GT5 will have over 300 cars and many more tracks. GT5 Prologue is the full game, just limited.

Oh, and just to remember, as far as I know, only the BD version of GT5 Prologue will have damage. The PSN download will not.

I can argue, no prob =) People b##tch about the length of Gears of War. They say it's not enough. Lots of talk about which games should be considered full games etc. They say EA's games should not be released because some of them have flaws. Then Polyphonic comes along and releases what is not even 1/3 of an upcoming title, and you say it's a full game? It does not matter how good the game is (I know it will be great), it's the principle of what they are doing that is sh#tty. How would you like it if other developers started releasing prologue glimpses of their games that you had to pay for? I don't like that thought.

To the morons bashing Crackdown. Look at it this way - You got a full game with the Halo 3 beta invitation or you got a Halo 3 beta invitation with the full game.

Its a small portion of the full game that will be released later, Heres to hoping that sony comes up with the idea that if you buy this game, you either get a major discount on the full game or you get the full game for free Because without they will be asking games to pay 120 dollars for a game or more!

40 cars and 5 tracks is a totaly rip off for 60 bucks! Last time i looked (last time i was in Ireland) the dollar is around 1.8 in value compared to the pound. Im not real sure but i didnt think Egland and Northern Ireland use the Erou and they still use the pound.

I will still buy this game on day one just because i am a HUGE GT fan and i seen some gameplay video's that really looked awesome. Sony is pushing this out for the holidays and thats all well and good. But 60 bucks for a game with only 40 cars and 5 tracks is a bit steep. The online play better work perfect and if its intergrated with Home it will smooth out the fact i paided that much money for it.

GT is the daddy of all racers. Kinda like Halo/Unreal is the daddy of FPS

Not necissarily bud. Warhawk cost 30 Euro and 40 Dollars on PSN. Also Europe is well known for having the most expensive prices. Before the launch of the PS3 I remember reading an article about the PS3 costing more in Europe than anywhere else, With Britain having to pay the most of any country.

Motorstorm only had 8 I think and Warhawk has 5. It seems games are skimping on the content these days, And getting away with it.

Warhawk does not have 5 maps...it has like 5 massive islands...Nobody knows the ins and outs of each map yet...there are spots to hide and explore on every single one all over the place...as with Motorstorm...

Motorstorms tracks are absolutely huge, with the game average for lap times being something like 3 minutes...there are 5 distiinct multiple paths in some tracks...and all have at least 3...I have played the crap out of that awesome game...and I still get hung up at times not remembering which path to take depending on the car...

I see your point...and GT5P will not have tracks like that...but everyone complained about how few tracks motorstorm had...then you would see them online having no idea where they were going because they hadn't even learned the maps that were there to begin with...I don't get tired of content until I have seen all of it over and over and over...both Warhawk and Motorstorm ship with enough stuff, despite looking tiny on paper, to keep you buys for months...

Whatever the price is, so long as it's not huge, like £40 I'll get it. They'll probably add something into the full game that allows you to load your savegame from prologue and either give you more money to start or access to more cars. That's what they did before.

Personally I’d like more than 5 tracks (and 5 reverses), but it’s still great to have the online mode and GT TV. Two different simulation options? A full fledged multiplayer mode. A dedicated online service that supports up to 12 players. A service comparable to GT TV? Nope.

And the reason for this is that GT5: Prologue, just like GT4: Prologue, is NOT a demo. You really need to understand the difference between a demo and a title that's based off of early technology and content that will be seen in the final version of a game, i.e. GT5. I know a lot of 360 owners are having trouble wrapping their heads around the concept of a Preview Game, and it's understandable. Polyphony Digital is the only company that does this, and they sell millions just on these Prologues since they're such high-quality previews.

i saw nowhere in the article that GT5:prologue was a demo. so with that being said with common knowledge of the word prologue. and history. prologue generally means preview, similar to the prologue of a book. when you go to a book store you read the back of the book and it gives you the whole story in a short preview minus all the pages and your hooked. same thing here. you are getting everything the bare minimum of the games features everyone one of them but with it's content being held back.

GT5 when it releases next year the full full game will have about 20 tracks and 20 reversable one bring it to 40 total.single player career modes asnd the classic modes it's been known to have then they have 40 cars that, 16 player online races and split screen. online and offline multiplayer. PSN Home integration and the GT TV download service... where as GT5 is just a hand full of track 5, and 5 reversable bring it to 10. career mode, 16 player online splitscreen online and off and home suppoort that carries over to GT5. and ofcourse the GT tv service.

I've payed money for games before on both systems that were only 6-12 hours long. Racing games are different. I can customize cars in so many different ways and race online over and over. Over and over is a death phrase on most games but It's the whole point on racing games. I've been playing the free gt5 demo alot and It's like one track and 12 cars.
