The problem with N3 is that all of the characters are reserved to one type of movement and they are carbon copies of each other. N3 is a good game but the difference here is the level of detail on each enemy.

I'm not saying that they are all unique but there are way more versions of enemies in Heavenly Sword than in that fight sequence that you posted.

The prob that there are no 1000 in N3 in sight. As far as everyone noticed the distance of view in this game is very short - 10 meters (relatively to the game scale) not more - everything else is 'fogged'

According to the reviewers who are giving HS lower scores (6/10, 7/10), graphics are not the issue. And obviously from this video you can see that the graphics are incredibly impressive. The issue has been gameplay. So if you like pretty graphics but the controls are wonky, then go for it. If you like tight controls along with good graphics, then maybe this isn't for you. I downloaded the MoH: Airborne demo and had the same issues (graphics look great but the controls felt far too loose to me).

I played the demo for 99 nights and it sucks, the only people who are comparing it with Heavenly Sword are the people who didn't play the HS demo. The fighting style suits well with all those characters on sceen, they have their different attacks and different blocks.

99 Nights didn't have the kill animations this one does.. That's what really catches my eye, when you do a combo and the camera pans out a bit and it's like a quick cinematic.

Kameo (launch day title) on 360 has 1000 enemies on screen at once with all the trolls and that was hella fun slaughtering them by the truckloads.

Wow. The difference between this and games like dynasty warriors is you can see the enemies really swarming around looking for their opening. Unfortunately for them they're just over matched.

Not to mention this game actually has a deep combat system and is not just hack and slash as some would have you believe.

Dynasty Warriors is a mindless button masher that hasn't changed since the first game on PS2 and last gen in both gameplay and graphics.

Heavenly Sword is a state-of-the-art next-gen game with deep and beautiful combat and stunning and varied enemy animations and movements. All those Keoi "Warriors" games like Samuari Warriors 360, Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3/360) and BladeStorm (360/PS3) look and play the same way their last gen versions did.

I don't think you have to kill all the soldiers. I think this is the very beginning of the game where Nariko dies. You can see and hear from the video that she is slowly dying because of the sword.

You can fight and kill upto 2000 in the same battle as the game progresses. It's not just that begining scene :)

Plus you'll also be able to see most of the bodies pile up - about a 1000 i think fully ragdoll bodies :P

you're right tmax I dont want *ALL of those "thousands" of enemies to attack at once, and NO I also don't want the AI to randomly send a "handful" of enemies at me with varied attacks, instead of 2 or 3 walking forward for me to slice up and then swing my weapon in a circulation to kill the rest of the zombies standing by, wash rinse repeat a few 100x's.= now of course I'm exaggerating a little but thats how most games like this look and play imo, its just a reality games in this genre especially have a tendency to be repetitive button mashers= its a hard formula to master for devs to create a game like this and do it correctly, lately only games like GoW and NG have truly succeeded imo.

Most of these video captures are made with God mode on, surely you must know that. This game also has heaps of combo moves, much more depth that any hack and slash.

Xbox 360 does have a lot of exclusives, if they are "nice" or not is a matter of opinion, when like me you don't like Forza, Halo and don't play online then many of the biggest selling points for the 360 are gone. I bought the 360 for R6: Vegas, Crackdown and GOW, I enjoyed them greatly but after I finished them I checked the horizon for what new games were coming out that interested me and there wasn't much, that's in no way a fanboy flame just a personal choice based on my own personal tastes. So I had a look around, I saw a video for Heavenly Sword and it immediately stunned me, then I checked what else was coming to the PS3 and saw Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted, all of them interested me (particularly HS) so I sold the 360.

If you don't believe me, well tough, I know that once I had a 360 which was sold and now a UK PS3 sits under my TV. Who knows, maybe after xmas I will look on the horizon again and see the games that interest me most will be 360 exclusives so I will switch back, I don't care what system I own, I just want to play the games that interest me most.

And your statement that the PS3 only has a lot of video's while the 360 has games, you are right but when I sold my Gamecube to get a 360 I sold a system with lots of nice games to get a 360 based on only video's for GOW, Vegas and Crackdown.

Enjoy your games everyone, regardless of what system they are on!

I can't afford to have more than one system (I'm a student) so when I decided to get the PS3 it just seemed a bit weird to keep the 360 and barely use it when I could sell it for £250 and then be more than halfway towards my PS3. I've played the demo... A LOT, and the gameplay seemed pretty solid to me. I was expecting GOW like controls and was pleasently suprised with a completely different approach.

Oh and this video doesn't do justice to this game at all in terms of resolution. You've got to download the HD video's from gametrailers.com and watch them in full screen, which looks almost as good (pretty sure gametrailers videos are 720p) as playing this game on a HDTV. I can't even imagine how good this game would look in 1080p, if it even has the option.

The enemies around you don't die from mere "splash" damage of you hitting the ground. When you hit the ground, it causes an slight earthquake and they're stunned. You still have to kill them yourself by either stabbing them while they're down, or knocking them back up on their feet. There's countless ways to destroy your enemies and believe it or not they do have more than one or two attack commands..

remember when one of the qualms in one review said that, He didn't like the fact that when there were so many enemies on the screen, he couldn't "effectivley counter" there attacks.

If you've played the demo, you know that the enemies will try to attact when they think the time is right, But Nariko is just to nasty for them. Just look at this amazing vid again.

All Sony has to do is post this vid in a commercial, and you will see how many cats pick up this game. You can pick apart this vid all you want. But even critics MUST admit.

You have to ask more, and the reviews under 9.0 (please read them carefully), talked about a failure in the gameplay, in the mixture of 3 kinds of fighting that simply don't integrate eachother (as DMC3 did, on the contrary).
Reviews als say that you have to slaugther for 10 hours the same 4-5 enemies until the final Boss. And kai and her twin-twang doesn't help but feel the lacking of some kind of class and deep gameplay.
I'm sure that you like beautiful women, but I'm almost sure that you want them to move, and react, and have a personality.
Well, it seems this game has only beauty. A perfect, beautiful doll without a heart.

HS is a so so game, it looks good and bad and plays alright from the demo, but in no way is it a master peace and in no way is it a 10.10.10 game. The ps3 is in 3rd place and isnt doing well and besides HS and mgs4 and maybe uncharted theres nothing thats going to save the ps3. Heavenly sword is one of the best action games EVER. The thing is that if you play alot of Devil May Cry like action games stay away from this game. Devil May Cry like action games are rather simple and Heavenly Sword's combat takes time to master. It is really complex, from the way you counter to having to time your combos just right and constantly changing your strategy because the A.I is good in this game. If you have played the demo you know this. Try and beat up your enemies doing the same move over and over and they will own you hands down. Heavenly sword is for hardcore gamers and there is no doubt about that.

according to the story line, this should be the first battle you fight (hence the tips) and at this point, you've already gone through those last few days where you've killed half of the evil emperor's army. which could be why they're backing off from you.

at the end of this sequence, i think the emperor actually comes down to fight you, and of course, you lose, which prompts the gods to give you a second chance to turn around the outcome, and cue off the first real level.

definitely a day one purchase if i were home. i gotta wait until thanksgiving though.. :-(

when this game comes and goes just like every ps3 game so far maybe then you guys will come back to reality, until mgs4 comes I am not expecting anything big from sony. at least we have home to look forward too. hope thats not overhyped like every ps3 game so far.

heavenly sword is simply the first true next gen action aventure game. However i do not like the fact that the game lacks character/bad guy variation. Everyone pretty much looks the same. Also when you watch it, it tends to look like everyone is just dancing around however its completely different when you play it. I have my warhawk, next week is lair and then heavenly sword. If sumhow i can beat all those games before october i might jst get graw. BUT boo to stranglehold played the demo on live and it got old mad quick. A 7. game at best which is basically typical midway

Your logic is flawed and plainly stupid. No new weapons? I think the game is called "heavenly sword" and even in that, you don't use the sword for the whole game. In one chapter she must fight without it.

The haters just keep getting angrier each and every month. Every time a PS3 title starts dropping people's jaws, the anti-Sony commandos rush in and claim that they've either played that game and it sucked, that it's just a rip-off of a 360 title, or, my personal favorite, the "I'm talking crap about the title, but I'm not saying the game's bad. It just looks like it might get a 'little' repetitive."

you think becuase some people arent impressed by hs or lair that we dont support the ps3, I can gaurentee that I support it more then half the idiots on this page who claim thier love for the ps3.

I ownt he 60g, i own a 2 bluetooth's for it, i got accessories galore and i buy stuff from the psn store, but since its not used by many becuase of games and friends dont like it so i stick to my 360 for chatting and finiding friends and playing a larger selection of games., theres no games on the ps3 that excite me so why buy them, the nulti plat games right now are better on the 360, thats not my opinion thats a fact, so until ps3 gets great games which will come, becuase sony doesnt start pumping in the first year so time will help them and the games will come, but im not going to sugar coat a system that has nothing to play at the moment, ill buy lair, buy warhack and buy hs to play those games and i will judge them after i play but from the demo alone its not a AAA game period and 6 hours of gaming cripples it as well besides the other obvious flaws, yeah it looks nice but so does lair and many 360 games.

the problem is that after 360 has given us 200 games and tons of arcade games, movies and content you still grasp at straws for the ps3 as if its dominating the 360 which is not the case, give the 360 credit and people wont hound you when you cry about hs as the second coming. its 1 game and its not saving the ps3 as much as you would like for it to.

im a gamer not a wait and see type of guy, i could care less that in 3 years from now the ps3 will rock, what about now, what about this holiday season, as of now the 360 owns it yet you will say hs and lair are good enough to destroy the 360 and its lineup, and that my friends is called sucking sony's pole.
I rather not since theres nothing about the ps3 thats topping the 360, i will agree I do like what i see in the games for the ps3(exclusives only) but until next year the 360 will lead with better games.

If ms screw up and ps3 gets its balls rolling then i will use and support my ps3 more until then theres nothing to wright home about.

HS has very good scores. so who cares anyway, i have never ever played a demo so many times as i did HS demo. i loved it sooo much , just seeing her run down the ropes was amazingm so why should i care about 1 or 2 stupid reviews.

oh and the only reason that so many fanboys try to trash the game in ever HS thread is the fear of it beeing a real awsome game. not perfect but good enough.

I played the full game at GC and I can tell you this, the game is awesome.
