PS3 To Get DVR Functions, Digital Tuner In 2008

According to Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand boss Warwick Light he is "hoping next year... to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder."

gta_cb6111d ago

everything extra helps sell consoles etc, and i do agree it will be sweet and hope to get it when i buy a PS3 BUT, i see this as copying MS with the IPTV.

That means if you have Linux installed you can use myth tv and rewind fast forward record!WOW!!!

peksi6112d ago

Don't know whether you're sarcastic but you can do it already. Just buy a cheap USB DVB adapter and go for it.

Arkham6111d ago

And the software to run it would be...?

warfed6111d ago

if you have to ask such a stupid question... don't ask

Arkham6110d ago

Went over your head, did it? The idea of the average person expecting to just plug in a USB receiver to watch/record TV on their PS3 certainly warranted a sarcastic reply.

Could even be out this year in Europe as Freeview doesn't launch in New Zealand untill 2008 but is widely available in the UK and I think Europe aswell.

kaomakk6112d ago

Freeview launched here in NZ a few months back.....

I've been saying that since 2005.
If they had had this option from the start it would have been the ultimate machine.

HD Game Console
Media Center/Tivo/Music player
HD Movie playback

Sony's been saying that for about 5 years now. It was at the Sony BB (Broadband-something or another) expo in Japan, March 2002 I believe (2003?). They said they were hoping to have TiVo-like functionality added to the (then) recently announced HD and network adapter. As with Home, it was delayed a generation, but this functionality has been on the backburner for a long time.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos54m ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis17h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

darthv721d 11h ago

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
