With both Project Natal and Sony's "arc" motion controller slated to launch this upcoming fall/holiday season, the two camps are positioning themselves to hit the market with as strong a product as possible. Nintendo owns the motion control space right now, but both Sony and Microsoft are dying to change that. In our recent conversation with Rob Dyer, SCEA Senior Vice President of Publisher Relations, we asked the executive point blank about Sony's chances in the impending motion war.
Frankly, what we told Dyer is that from a pure marketing and PR perspective, Natal seems to be winning the battle. Microsoft has done much more to hype up Natal as some revolutionary platform, while emphasizing what great support they've garnered from the major publishers. Dyer, of course, sees this as simply a lot of posturing by Microsoft. He remains extremely confident in Sony's product.
While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.
Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.
It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny
Armored Core VI?
Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.
Is something big coming soon to branch the story?
No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
Video games are no longer just a simple past time. Today's games are evolving into true works of art. Offering intriguing narratives, cinematic setpieces, and profound messages, games can entertain us for hundreds of hours.
I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now
Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.
Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.
Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
It's a shame Sony couldn't have gotten this out in the Spring like they originally intended, because they really could've gained a huge edge over Natal. But on the other hand, the last thing I want to see is a hobbled together launch because they pushed it out the door so quickly.
Despite the fact that it still doesn't have an official name, I'm looking forward to the motion controller, and the games it will bring with it. Sony and Microsoft both have the same tall task of trying to get the "hardcore" crowd to come around to motion controls, and because of it's design and accuracy, I think Sony may have the leg up, even if they don't spend millions trying to market it.
For those of you who don’t know, Big Stick Diplomacy was derived from the African saying “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.” Hehehe.
motion controll ftw!!!
Dyer: "When you get MLB and play it with the motion controls, it'll be like an epiphany. Angels will start singing and you'll have a very different experience. I promise you that; it's so damn cool. We're not making any official announcements, but I've seen the technology on it. The tech is very different from what's out there today"
That's great to hear.
Hopefully MLB gets Arc support, I would definitely buy it.
It's good that Sony aren't intending to shoehorn the controls in as well.
And he says the games WILL appeal to the "hardcore" crowd as well and that's something I don't feel either Nintendo or MS are going for.
" Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick "
not the best business model
