The God Of War 3 screens are here and the PS3 has proved to be the number one console in terms of sheer quality. The screenshots released today are incredible but still, nothing compares to seeing this game in motion and once the video is finally released to the public.

Microsofts nightmare will very well begin because there's nothing on the market that has shown the capabilities of Next Gen Power such as the upcoming God Of War 3.

We were not worried about the first Halo, or the second, or the the third, or any verastion of the game and Reach is no different. The fact remains the same there are more games for PS3 and better games for PS3. and Reach looks nowhere close to as good as God of War and that game is supposed to be xbox's new engine showing where there games are going to be for the foreseeable future. Which is still behind sony.

A decline? Definitely not in sales. Halo 3 has sold nearly 11 million copies to date. ODST sold 2 million in 24 hours. Halo 3 also has a 94 on MetaCritic, so it definitely hasn't declined in quality either. Unless it declined from mindblowing to incredible... And I believe ODST is somewhere in the mid 80s on MetaCritic. That's pretty great for what you PS3 fanboys call a $60 DLC expansion.

Both systems have games coming out this year that will appeal and sell to their audiences. Sony has pulled the January 18th newest/final build trailer of GOW3 that HHG and N'Gai saw. They were supposed to be receiving said video on the 18th but sony has changed its mind and the hiphopgamer wants us to go to the official sony blog and beg for it in masses so they might change their minds.

Now that the collection is out, both GoW games hold up on their own against 90% of games in this generation. Playing both back to back is a must for any gamer who didn’t catch up with them on PS2.

It’s not so much the violence (IMO), but rather the combination, gameplay, story and puzzles. The balance is just right and although other games do things better individually, it the whole package that’s rocks with this franchise.

Personally I felt that the first hour of GoW1 does feel slightly dated, however that game is 10 times better at the finish than at the start, so the pacing is perfect.

I too couldn’t care less about ripping peoples head off in III; however I do want the same combination of game mechanics that was so successful in the first two.

Many years ago I had a MegaDrive and a SNES. I now have a Wii, Ps3 and 360. Just buy a ps3. play U2. play MGS4. play K2. love them, and STFU.

Let me explain. When you hear the name "playstation" the first thing most people think of is gran tourismo because it is the game that set the playstation brand on fire. Throw in games like FF7 and Tekken and ace combat and the list goes on and on. Most don't think God of War. They would think of Madden before that. Godof War is a great franchise but it is NOT a system seller like GT is.

When you think of xbox you immediately think of Halo because it is the game that made the xbox. GoW is not the game that made the PS. As much as many would like to believe that this is the saving grace, the ps3 doesnt need saving. It is just fine on its own. Every big hyped title since the ps3 launch has been given the same designation as the 360 killer or something to that nature.

It almost seems as if the diehard onesiders can't come to terms that there is good to be had on both platforms. They CAN coexist and people CAN play games on both and not feel like they must ridicule the opposition. This gen is by far THE WORST of ANY console generation and we can thank the internet for creating the worlds biggest soap box that everyone can stand on.

I got a lot of friends that own xbox360's and they always give me a hard time about the games i have and what i dont have because i own a PS3, but one thing that most gamers, from the casual and the hardcore, to all of my friends alike,.... they say... if their was any game they want to have on the Xbox360 it would have to be GOW3.

1. IT's Badass, eveyone loves a badass character, for Xbox it's Master Chief or Marcus Fenix, Why do you think the games sold so well?? I kno the games are good but I (Keyword: I) do believe that theirs some type of personal connection people have with a playable character in order for them to want to play it so much. Which is why theirs is always high demand for a sequel or what not. GOW3 has it's own badass character that in truth puts them all too shame. Thats one thing some Xbox fans cant deny. I even wonder to myself have i even heard an xbox fan bash GOW3 in these past couple years on N4G which i honestly havent seen but like always i can be wrong.

2. Violence. Sorry to say it but America thrives off violence, we have the highest tolerance for it IMO. Gears of War.. everyone went crazy knowing you could chainsaw people in half or curb stomp their head in. DO I need to say GTA4?? Now you have GOW3 which just so happens to be short of a Teen rating please excuse my sarcasm...

3.Action adveture... GOW3 has got to be one of the best action adventure platform games coming out this gen, and right now their is no competitor, not on 360 or Wii (Unless you wanna call Mario Badass lmao sorry couldnt help myself). In fact i do believe MS is in the works creating some type of rival against GOW3, that shows u how MS believes GOW3 is a good game and santa monica studios should be honored. All these halo and Gears of war fans will get tired eventually and would like to move on from their everday shooter and move to a different genre game, and my guess GOW3 looks mighty good right now. I love my shooters but eventually i get tired of them and move to something else, Im a true gamer i play all genres.

I'm not stating that GOW3 will blow out sales or even rank in the top 10 in sales, but everyone cant deny GOW3.(Keyword: Everyone) It's like that Gay cousin you have lol you cant deny that he's family. What I'm saying is this is what most 360 and Wii fans would be wanting the most if they had a chance to steal an exclusive. Because personally I think that Uncharted /2 are both awesome games in almost every aspect, And although I can't vouch for GOW, from what I've heard and seen it's a quality series, i'm not too fond of those hack n slash games, but I might pick up the collection from what ive heard about it. Now I agree that HHG is a fanboy and I avoid him at all costs (though his titles always suck me in), but the suggestion that GOWIII isn't a system seller is a joke. I know anecdotal evidence isn't proof of anything, but I know at least 2 friends who don't have a system and when deciding between Xbox and PS3 they pointed out GOW3 as the main reason why they feel they have to get a PS3, and I have one friend who has an Xbox and is going to buy a PS3 because of it, and another friend who had an Xbox and already bought a PS3 because of GOWIII and Heavy Rain. GOW was one of the biggest games last gen, and it goes to show that many of these Xbox fan boys did not play it because they don't even know what it's about.

@Johnny, GOW is a western game. It's about a Greek God, and has nothing to do with the Japanese. It feels nothing like a typical Japanese Hack and Slash game. The game is recognized not just because of it's good visuals, and it's hack and slash game play, but for it's well crafted story and most importantly it's rather crafty puzzle platforming. Clearly you're just a fanboy who doesn't like the game because it's not on your system. If you knew anything about the story of GOW then you would know that ripping someone's head off is in keeping with the character and is part of the game play (the guy is Helios, God of the Sun, his head shines a revelatory light upon hidden objects). If neither GOWIII nor UC2 appeal to you, then what kind of gamer are you anyway? Your statement has fanboy written all over it.

Basically saying "I don't care if there are ten times more PS3 fanboys in 360 articles as 360 fanboys in PS3 articles" and trying to excuse it by saying "well, both sides do it" sounds pretty illogical to me. Look at all the 360 articles, they are filled with 50% or more pure PS3 fanboys. However, when you look in the PS3 articles there are maybe 5% 360 fanboys. Compare their comment histories, and though Saaking may even post more often than We won, he's not nearly as offensive. Even We won's name is meant to suggest that the Xbox has already won the so called "console war." I watched the whole video as well. I was disappointed when he said Sony would pull the video. I'd share it on facebook to let all my friends, even friends who think games are childish, know that games come a long way and aren't the "Mario" of yesteryear. He did give Halo: Reach his due but noted it doesn't look to really wow gamers the way GOWIII has done so far, especially with the reaction of those scans that were released yesterday. He speaking the truth, no? Weren't we all excited and giddy when we saw pics of Kratos facing off against Poseidon? I admit I haven't watched all his videos but this one was pretty accurate. What do you mean, "God of War III won't increase the install base?" It's the first new generation game in the God of War series, which means there are people who have held off buying a PS3 until the new God of War game has released. The same happened with other "firsts": Halo3, GTA4, MGS4, etc.

So here's the difference, Halo doesn't move systems anymore. It doesn't matter if Halo outsells GOWIII. Everyone that's a Halo fan, have already had multiple chances to buy their 360 for Halo (Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST). GOWIII is going to move more PS3s than Halo:Reach is going to move 360s.

Well I'd like to argue the contrary because look what MGS4 did, those games you just mentioned are new IP's to this gen which means they'll take time to gather a following whereas such titles as GT and GoW already have an established following and I believe in light of the recent price cut God of War III will be thing that tips the scale and make them finally buy a PS3.

I'd say we are looking at a 50-100% increase in sales during march due to God of War III and I'd say in it's first month probably around 2.5 million in sales. (but then again these are just my predictions, don't get your panties in a bunch)

GoW 1 = 3.21 million
Gow 2 = 2.58 million

The sales went DOWN for the franchise. And not by a bit but by 630,000 units. And GoW 2 is a better game.

The GoW Collectin has only sold 0.51 million with an install base of 31 million PS3's. I am 1 of the 0.51 million that bought it.

I enjoy GoW and like I said earlier, there is a following but it's not as big as Halo OR MGS. MS is NOT SCARED of GoW 3. MS sells and makes MILLIONS over any exclusive game the PS3 has thrown. We all know this. So why would MS be having nightmares over a franchise that has sold just barly 5 million copies combined on an install base of 100 million PS2's when Halo 3 alone did 8 million when the 360 console base was around 10 million? The Hack n' Slash genre is just not as popular as the Shooter genre. That's just the way it is. On the PS3 and 360, the top selling games are all shooters.

I am not hating on GoW 3 as i have the demo and enjoyed it, and yes it looks GREAT. But HHG is absolutely out of his MIND if he thinks MS is worried about the release of GoW3.

- Who was playing all the HD games? PS2 was selling hundreds of thousands more units when the PS3 was released while the PS3 was struggling to make sales due to it's $599 launch price. GoW 2 was released well before the PS3 was released. Your comment makes absolutely no sense at all. There were still 100 million PS2's out there, the sequel sold less than the original and both combined sold just over 5 million, and now that the PS3 is out and cheap the GoW collection has only sold 1/2 million copies...which were touched up for HD gaming.

3. All franchises get more popular with each itteration, just look at Uncharted, MGS, GT, Fable etc all get more popular.

4. This has way more hype behind it.

5. There were over 2000 games on the PS2 whereas there are only a couple of hundred on the PS3.

6. Most people who have owned God of War won't re-buy it unless their copy was lost or they are desperate for HD.

as loyal as i am to sony (PS3 & PSP owner), i can't call GoW3 GOTY yet. yes the scans, particular with Poseidon look SICK in the head. But until i play SPlinter Cell Conviction, Halo Reach,Heavy Rain,rest of games for 2010... it would be hard for me to say GoW3 is MS new nightmare.

Plus, i wanna see it top Uncharted2 in terms of (graphical presentation,environments,exce llent camera work,story,and action sequences.) if it doesn't even come close to being a complete game like Uncharted 2, then it has no chance for 2010. obviously GoW3 will be amazing, im not doubting Sony, its just that i want to play the game first before i go all batshit crazy.

Didn't we go through this same thing with Killzone2? Now don't get me wrong, I like to see a game in full action also, but looking at the scans, so far, the art direction and quality in God of War 3 is unmatched. Nobody is bashing Halo Reach, it has awesome art direction too. It suits the game VERY nicely, and Reach should be an awesome game(graphics and gameplay). But the success of one does not detract from the other. Both games can be successful, and they will be.

But back to the art in God of War, that is world class artwork. It reminds me of the old styles used in some of the best old Savage Conan comic books that featured the oil style paintings as cover art, but much better. GOW3 will show some of the biggest bosses on scale we've ever seen. Enjoy both games, its not so hard, especially since they aren't even competing with each other. They are completely different in style, genre, release date, etc. The only fight amongst these two games are the ones fanboys create in their heads. By not buying these two games, a gamer can only hurt himself. Shed the fanboyism, and enjoy yourselves for a change.

What people don't see when comparing these 2 games is that GOD3 has fixed camera angles and that's more resource left to improve other aspects so, at the end Uncharted 2 will be more graphically impressive because you can move the camera around.

Yes, God of War 3 will probably be great and sell well, and may even move some consoles, but MS has Halo Reach coming out this year. This article is bullsh1t. God of War 3 IS the best looking game IMO. Coming from a guy that has Uncharted 2, Gears 2, and all the above. I think even the lower rez textures are high rez. It simply looks amazing. I was and still am COMPLETELY blown away from that ALPHA BUILD of the game. If this game doesn't shout Epic, then I need to look up what epic means because I got it all wrong.
If you haven't played the demo, Gamestop usually has the demo codes so go get one and enjoy. Not gonna lie.....it's F*CKING AMAZING!

Microsoft has Halo Reach. I believe that there's no game bigger than Halo even though I hate Halo because of its insane hype. Halo is the most overhyped franchise of all times but if people love it then they love it you know.

I think that Sony should fear Halo. Halo could bring more people to buy X360 and that mean even higher third party sales on the box and that equals even more support from them.
