Kojima to return to PS3, thanks to Modern Warfare 2?

CC: Modern Warfare 2 was released in November and according to Official PlayStation Magazine, it's inspired Kojima to move away from the PSP, and back to developing for the PlayStation 3.

Legendary developer. Hope he returns to developing the next game for PS3. Maybe even make Peace Walker for the PS3!

ruleroftekken5230d ago

Why doesn't he work on the next IW COD? It would be awesome, and would probably sell even more copies!

Method5230d ago

Zone of Enders 3, calling it now.

GameGambits5230d ago

Honestly MW2 took so many ideas FROM MGS4 it was a tad ridiculous. Tactical Knifes was supposed to be the way Snake holds his handgun/knife for CQC.

A LOT of the character models outfits were the same ones you can find in MGS4.

I just hope this inspired him for another Metal Gear Online. I'm still playing MGO to this day. It captures what I love about the single player of Metal Gear, and translates it very well to an online fun mode. No game type is as much fun as Team Sneak for me in an online game.

bruddahmanmatt5230d ago

Kojima finding inspiration from MW2 huh? In other news, Michael Mann will be taking cues from Michael Bay for his next film. I also hear Ridley Scott has been studying under Brett Ratner and McG lately.

divideby05230d ago

^ method.....spot on...just started replaying the first game last week....one of my all time favs..for the time

evrfighter5230d ago

"Honestly MW2 took so many ideas FROM MGS4 it was a tad ridiculous."

ummmmmm

do you not watch movies?

MW2 is pretty much just scenes from all the best action movies in the last 10+ years all loosely tied together.

randomwiz5230d ago

he's not finding inspiration from the game...

He's basically saying that he went to psp to get young gamers into the mgs series. But he really is impatient to make the next mgs on ps3.

I think he's secretly thinking, "i hate working with the psp, its so limited... I want to return to the ps3 asap and do what i dream to do!"

come on sony, its time for the psp2

rezenu5230d ago

I would like a MGS5 or a remake of MGS. That would be cool but Zone of the Enders would be awesome too.

Sarcasm5230d ago

I honestly don't see any correlation between MW2 and Kojima "going back" to PS3?

5230d ago
Noctis Aftermath5230d ago

Zone of Enders 3 is the most likely candidate, but i would not rule out a new IP.

TheIneffableBob5230d ago

zlatko, that's all stuff in real-life.

Downtown boogey5230d ago

It's has even better tech AND stealth elements to it.

sikbeta5230d ago

Kojima's games are AMAZING

COD games just over-hyped sequels

devilmaycry20205230d ago

actually both games are based on how real soldiers handle weapons any similarity means that both games have a real close presentation of just that.

Udidntlistenpunk5230d ago

Kojima san never "left the PS3".

He just went to work on Peacewalker for the PSP. One can only do so much at the same time.

Why isnt Peacewalker PS3 exclusive? Well maybe because of funding issues from Konami.

Whatever the case, the fact is, PS3 is selling real well since the Slim and the upcoming releases of Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo will enhance those sales (along with other titles). So it makes more sense and is easier to get funding for PS3 games.

A true MGS5 for the PS3 will be sick.

gintoki7775230d ago

i dont know why but I thought this was a hip hop gamer show title for sec ....wierd

mastiffchild5230d ago

Um? I'd LOVE to see another PS3 exclusive Koj made MGS for the PS3. MGS4 is STILL the overall equal of anything made for console and from any generation imo but NOWHERE does Koj mention PS3 and much less PS3 exclusive so why the excitement from anyone?

From this 360 heads shouldn't fear losing a koj game and PS3 fans should not imagine they're getting one exclusively-not at all. In fact the fact he's bigging up a multiplat shows he prolly means making a modern multi himself, no? Seriously, where the hell is there ANY suggestion that koj is making a further PS3 exclusive from this article? Not from Kojima's words there isn't so why are we assuming it's so?

Udidntlistenpunk5229d ago

HE "isnt bigging anything multi platform".

KONAMI is making a multi platform title. Kojima himself is and will not work on Metal Gear Rising. He is working on Peacewalker.

ThanatosDMC5229d ago

It had better be ZOE3! Make it gigantic battlefields plus a ton of stuff happening like when we fought the armada and the Orbital Frames vs Earth's forces in ZOE2.

thesummerofgeorge5229d ago

But it's hard to imagine what aspect of MW2 inspired him to make more games, specifically for the PS3. Then again, whatever gets the man working on his next masterpiece...

DARK WITNESS5229d ago

" Kojima to return to PS3 " ....really ? when did he leave ?

The man announced ONE project for the psp and that turned into him "leaving" the ps3 like he was getting divorced from it or something.

I am sure he has had other projects all along that have been planed for the ps3. don't you just love the way people like to bend misinformation.

till this day, MGS4 is still my no 1 ps3 game.

Inspiring?

Kojima, don't kid yourself.

Raf1k15230d ago

Maybe he was inspired to show IW how it should be done :P

Polluted5230d ago

Maybe he's just someone who actually enjoys playing games instead of acting like a jerk-@ss hater for no reason.

WhittO5230d ago

We all know he was inspired by the sales numbers haha.

Joookee, i know hes not a sell-out.

Raf1k15230d ago

Well, whatever the reason for his inspiration I think we should just be glad he wants to work on the PS3.

MGS4 is the only one of his games I've ever played so I don't know about any other franchise he may have done but I'd like to see him try a genre he's not done before as he seems to be the kind of developer that could bring something very unique to the table.

SprSynJn5230d ago

Apparently none of you have played the game. Either that, or you just want to complain about something popular. Modern Warfare 2 is a good game, regardless of whether you think it is authentic or not. I personally did not care too much for MGS4, yet I love MW2. Still I am sure MGS4 was legendary in its own right. Different strokes. Just because you do not like it does not make it bad.

ape0075230d ago (Edited 5230d ago )

one of the best games in this generation easily,it's so

epic, grand, cinematic and damn right a blast to play, the gameplay is pure magice, runs at 60 fps, soundtrack is so epic, please listen to this

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

the amount of hate in this site is absolutely unbelievable

you guys need to get a life

I know Im gonna get disagrees,I know,it's N4g but REMEMBER that you 'll only hurt yourself

I give mw2 a 9.5 out of 10

irepbtown5230d ago

I disagree, i found MW2 so disappointing, the only reason i play it is because of my friends.

I guess my next stop is Bad Company 2 which looks crazy (in a good way).
And MAG and GT5 and Split Second.

I dunno about you, but March is a crazy Month.

watashi hideo kojima5229d ago

he is encouraged by the war in USA soil.with concerns and being very cautious when he tries to carry his own Japanese mind into very detailed and movie like games.i think the mask was some kind of a message too for MGS rising before its teasers...remember/? at least thats what i always think of him...

iTzNath5230d ago

Thats the only thing modern warfare 2 has done good.

_insane_gamer_5230d ago

I loved MGS4, but MW2 isn't THAT good. Sure it's an awesome game. But enough to bring the biggest developer in the gaming industry back to PS3? I wouldn't have thought so...

N4PS3G5230d ago (Edited 5230d ago )

I don't understand why people think his coming back to make next-gen games.... the last time i heard of him he said he was going to make a third part of Zone of the Enders and a game for Project Natal on the Xbox 360.

That doesn't look like he's retired at all..

Valay5230d ago

Hmm. Personally, I'd rather see him develop games for the PS3 rather than the PSP, although I'm not a PSP hater.

xbox3flopteen5230d ago

the two of them...psp and ps3 as well, since it is all sony system that we are referring to!!! go kojima

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell Of Ar Ciel Retro Review – Love Conquers All

Gary Green said: You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t heard of the Ar Tonelico trilogy. The previous two games arrived so late in the PS2’s life-cycle that they simply went unnoticed. While most were tinkering with their shiny new PS3s, Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica were being ‘returned to sender’ by your local Game stores. Luckily, you won’t need to have played them to understand and appreciate this third and final chapter, Qoga (pronounced k-yoga) tells the story of a racial war between humans and Reyvateils, a breed of biologically produced female cyborgs capable of reproduction, while still having a digital mind.

Oh my god. I kinda wish this would get a remaster on PS5, it would be awesome. One of my favorite games on PS3.

That and 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a shame that some stuff is stuck on PS3.

Knightofelemia2d ago

Ar Tonelico 3 is good I still prefer the first AT game. The music is solid in all the games and Akiko Shikata is a very talented singer bringing life to the game. Only annoying part is well I find is Saki I always choose Finnel or Tyria. KOEI so needs to HD remaster the franchise along with Ar Nosurge and Ciel Nosurge since it never came to North America. I would day one the Ar Toneliceo games and Ar Nosurge if they were remastered.

TheColbertinator2d ago

I still have the limited edition of Qoga unopened. Unfortunately it never went up in value like I had hoped all these years.

Used to own all these quirky JRPG on ps3 good times. Wish I would have kept them all

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies3d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken3d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing694d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker4d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing694d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt3d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken3d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
