Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Leaderboards Will Have To Be Reset

E4G: The leaderboards for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, for the PS3, have been incorrect due to a new hack that was released.

I don't know if this is a new hack or not, but the leaderboards have been hacked and tampered with since the beginning.

It truly means nothing. Even if leaderboards couldn't be hacked, people still boost, trade headshots, etc. so it's pretty much worthless.

Not that the leaderboards are a big deal. It's fun to compare yourself, but really, when people cheat, and when people hack to get their names at the top, it just becomes a joke.

I had a recent match where someone was using the "Javelin" glitch to knife everyone. It was stupid. He had like 35 kills in no time. Comparatively, the rest of my team might have had 16 kills combined and his team, about 10 combined. IT becomes readily apparent when people cheat. I would love to see something better than a ban, just a reset of the person's ranks, exp, and score on the leaderboard.

they could always weed out the people that 'suddenly' shot up spots in the leaderboards. Im sure its not that hard to figure out how this person shot from 10 points to 12million in an hour..

Either way, we'll probably see IW's stance on this in the upcoming weeks.

Serves them (IW) right for not testing their code with a beta! This could all have been avoided. Essentially everyone that bought MW2 ended up being beta testers!

People are blaming the hackers & cheaters which is good and all, but in the end you (IW) should have these same people testing the code to make sure it's solid before release, not after the fact. Now there's going to be a lot of pissed legit gamers out there.

Every game has there small issues, but keep in mind that Uc2 never had these issues large game breaking issues... hmm I wonder why?

Sorry 4ginfo, but IW is to blame for this one. People hack (UFO hack) on COD4. You think IW would have learn their lesson from that, but they didn't. Why is it that only IW game is getting hack and not other developers games?

All they need to do is delete the hacked scores, (not hard) and lock the save-data so it can't be directly copied to a memory stick (= no editing of savedata on the computer!).

No the hackers are not at fault... The devs are at fault for bringing out such a faulty game. Whats worse is they tried to charge extra for this faulty game aswell?? Whats the extra £5/$10 for?? Other players ruining your experience glitching and your score being reset OBVIOUSLY.

I dont.. people who spend 7-10 days playing legitly shouldn't be punished.
They should be able to weed out the hackers easily if they can see how far they jumped in the leader board in so little time.

Technically though, the people who have played legitly just have to go to a match (If I am correct, I could be wrong) and then there name would be up on the leaderboard. It would take Infinity Ward a while to take down all of the recent people who have gotten on to the leaderboard.

And the lack of effort on IW's part. There is a reason why a lot of online games go through beta testing these days. Resistance 2, Warhawk, Mag, BFBC2, Halo 3, etc. A lot of the bugs/glitches/hacks can easily be iron out during beta which will follow by a QA. This is a common basic thing to do when you want a software to come out right (considering IW definitely had the money to do a beta test was what made it even more sad since not every dev out there can afford to do beta testing but would like to).

If you make it easier for hackers, they will come. Sony certainly didn't make it easy for hackers and as a result we have yet to receive a hack compare to the 360.

You won't lose your rank. But if you have got a spot on the leaderboard and worked you ass off for it...it might be taken off the leaderboard. It is up to Infinity Ward now.

Truly sad once you think about it. I would guess a lot will stop playing now due to it. It is crazy how many people only play online just so they can say they are ranked in a game. This was improper planning on IW end. You always have to think about hackers when making any kind of software. If you make it easy of course hackers will jump right on it just to make people mad lol.

Maybe with a re-set I can get a 2.0? I dont care about the leaderboards anyways, they only people I compare to are my friends. The people who are actually in the top 10-20 for the score leaderboards have no life, and the accuracy and kills ones are almost always hacked or boosted

COD4 had a beta, it didn't stop that being hacked. If they wanna hack/glitch/ruin it for everyone, they'll find a way beta or no beta. Anyway leaderboards dont bother me, i just go on for a blast and enjoy it for what it is. bloody good fun.

i agree that ppl will always find a way to glitch/hack even with beta tests, but i don't remember the leaderboard on 4 or waw being this bad. there was certainly rank cheats but not on this scale

Regardless of the fact that ppl hack IW ( top developers) should be on this from the start. When this is over there is going to be some new stupid glitch like knifing some1 give you an automatic nuke, im telling you i see it coming, but N E wayz IW should just reset all the Leaderboards and start fresh!!!!!!!!!!!

i have friends on 3rd and 4th prestige that have played more than me and the rest community doesnt deserve a reset because retards like to have high stats, plus the hack doesnt alow them to play all they get is a name with rank but ps3's will freeze if they join gam

people keep complaining about no beta and stuff, ok first of all if they had a beta who is to say that these Glitches/hacks would have come out then?
if you look at the article to do the hack, it is completely ridiculous that someone figured it out. it most likely was just luck that they found it, not IWs fault, its one thing to make a game that has gameplay glitches like lagg or the errors for animations, but its impossible to know how certain things react when people do retarded stuff

Its disgusting that there are 4 cod games and this is the worst with little improvements and even more nuubs online. a ton of people playeing the game online does not equal goty so just get that out of your head right now casual people. There is so much lacking in this game its mind boggling. It feels like a standard fps that I played 7 years ago on pc. They also had took so much out of the pc versions as well and made the price higher.
cod mw2 is so easy that people kid sisters can beat it on veteran. veteran is a freaking joke on this game and it doesnt even have ai, or destructuble environments, or vehicles, or weather effects, or large player count servers, or 4 player co-op. Its a freaking joke game. people can glitch and get all trophies unlocked, get on the top of the leaderboards with hacks, basically do anything they want becuase these developers are retarded and cant make a good game worth crap. only reason people sayeing the game is good is becuase hype, its for nuubs, and thats what millions of casuals are playeing.
