PSM: Sixaxis will rumble this year

The latest issue of PSM revives the PS3 Sixaxis rumble rumors, hinting once again that Sony could integrate the "last-gen feature" into upcoming controllers. According to the magazine's rumor section, Sony will announce rumble support at E3 for a release in mid-November. The re-designed controller will allow both tilting and rumble, united at long last thanks to the settled courtroom battle between Sony and Immersion.

I know we can go back and fourth all day with "He did then She did" with both parties, but HDMI is new technology, while rumble has been around for a while.

So the reason why all the sudden it was missing from SONY, well we all know why. HDMI does add a price increase to any box. just as all the other gimmicks the Ps3 might have, where it won't be taken advantage of years from. Just as MS and HDMI.

Personally speaking, RUMBLE adds to the Entertainment factor much more than HDMI does, especially when some might not even own HDTV's for years, as least we can have RUMBLE now. Well Of course some have always had it.

Se I don't care that console makers come out with little advantages, as long as I can take advantage of it. If I can't, then I don't care for it much, just give me games.

Of course I rather not be "FORCED" to buy it, unless I have no choice. good thing there is COMPETITION.

I have no problem with the Elite being released with HDMI. I do have a problem however with the fact that the Core 360 does not have an HD (thats another argument). The only argument that I see a fanboy making is that the HDMI that comes with the Elite 360 is a core component of the system ... so I can't (today) upgrade my Premium to the Elite without some sort of adapter. I have no problem buying another controller for Rumble + Motion Control.

You know...the whole "people that don't like rumble are in denial" argument is just as stale as the "we don't need rumble!" one...

I disagree with your comparison in that losing rumble is not equivalent to losing a button, as buttons/motion sensing are the interface with your machine...while rumble is not.

I'd say it's more akin to having an optical mouse and then purchasing the updated version which would(comparative to Sony's SIXAXIS, anyway) a ball mouse. You don't lose anything in terms of interfacing with your computer...you just lose the optical capability. For the record, I do prefer optical mice myself, but I know that there are those who prefer ball-mice...and some that even like trackballs. The same applies with controllers, so you can't simply assume that everyone who isn't pro-rumble is in denial.

Personally, I've never really been an advocate of rumble. I thought it was interesting(mainly because it was new) when it debuted on the N64, but afterwards it just bothered me, so in games where the rumble was excessive(from my perspective anyway), I would turn it off.

With that said, I think it should make a return simply because if you don't like it, you can turn it off. It seems that there are too many gamers that do enjoy rumble for it to NOT be there, and when the alternative is as simple as changing an option in a menu...everyone can be happy that way.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I just wanted to demonstrate that there are some people out there who just genuinely don't care for force-feedback.

Yes you are right, but before we had "triggers" we didn't have much games that required the use of 6-buttons, just like before we did not have Rumble, there was no games that took advatage of force-feedback either. TRIGGERS added something to the game, and RUMBLE added something as well(you can disagree too). TRIGGERS were never needed before an dnow you just cannot take them away. Some people feel the same for RUMBLE. Ever think about that?

Ofcourse, what I was reffering to, is the added value when playing any game that takes advantage of Rumble.(you can disagree but ask around) I bet there is a lot more, that rather have it then not).It might be different for everyone. Even if you might turn it off for a game or two, it has always been welcomed more often then not.

Well I plan on buying a PS3. I hope these controllers become standard. Also, I'm waiting to see what happens with this possible 80GB version. Seems to me that Sony is making as many changes as MS and adding rumble which should have been there from the start. Sure if you want rumble badly enough and own a PS3 than the cost for more controllers is minimal, but don't go complaining that XBL costs money then. For two controllers you can buy 2 years of Live.

Good to see Sony's eating their words on rumble.
Of course, all the execs (including Harrison) are trying to pretend they knew rumble was critical and that it would make a return and all. I'd almost be willing to bet they'll even release one of their now-famous statements soon where they'll try to claim they invented rumble before anyone else anyway. (see also: motion control, wii sports bowling, 2 SKUs, having a hard drive in a home console... all things tehy lambasted on other consoles but then claimed they had always been thinking about later on).

As said, if you don't like rumble, don't buy it and/or turn it off.
Here's to hoping they don't require rumble controllers or anything crazy like that.

I don't know if any of you recall when playstation was releases in had a standard controller. Then a "dual analog" was available. Then a "dual shock" was available. Along came PS2 and the "dual shock 2" was revealed. So rumble is not last gen its like ancient. Given the option though I would rather have it. I have been a fan of the PS controllers along the way. So if they are making my favorite controller better all I can say is hell yeah. Also, if XBOX 360 comes out with a motion sensor in the controller so what. I like the XBOX 360 controller and would not give MS crap for including it. Things need to evolve.

If Sony uses the Next gen rumble I have no problems with it, but if it's just standard rumble (which I think is improbable) then I won't buy it.

I'm not in any way worried about battery life because the PS3 controller has a built in charger out of box, no add-on needed.

Sony and Immersion will most likely be using a NEW rumble technology called Touchsense! LOOK IT UP!!! It's been in countless news stories and it's NEW!!! The rumble that the Wii and X360 have is not the same as TouchSense. The old rumble is last gen. TouchSense isn't! Sheesh!

If Sony puts this updated version of rumble into their controllers, people will forget what they heard and feel the future. I am quite confused. I remember just last year Sony stating that rumble was a last gen feature and not needed for the movie theatre that is PS3 gaming. What is even more amusing is that Sony also stated that it wasn't even possible to impliment rumble and motion control in the six axis. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Ken Kutaragi told me the world is really flat, and also that the if you click your heels three times and say "there is no place like home" you will be magically transported in 4D to the virtual reality in playstation home. I'm actually getting used to not having rumble. The life of these controllers is AMAZING! I can weeks without having to hook it back up via USB for a charge, and the more I think about it, the less I want something that will drain the life probably twice as fast and reduce the life of the battery.

Yea i have gotten used to em too but when i go back and play madded on 360 i wish my madded on ps3 had it 2. The touchsense thing would be nice but i doubt it will be blowing any1 out of the water.
