I grew up gaming on a C64 and later a PSOne, so disk-switching isn't that big of a deal to me.

But if you don't have to, why do it?

I install all of my games on my 120gb 360 hdd, so I won't have to switch disks and to reduce load times.

In fact most 360 gamers started installing once we got the opportunity to do so. So are 360 gamers lazy too?

Or are you so desperate that you have to find any possible way to one-up PS3 gamers by throwing lame jabs at them.

Fact is, there are a bunch of 360 Arcade gamers missing out on full, great gaming experiences. You can't say the same about Sony, unless you count "exclusive" DLC that seems to make it's way to PS3 anyways most of the time.

GT2 had two discs fool. One was for Arcade Mode and the other was for Simulation Mode.

While GT5 could ship on one disc with two extra discs of bonus content I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the game will again be split in two GT2 style. One disc for Arcade/Online mode and the other for Simulation mode. At this point we simply don't know.

I would rule it out. Bluray is not maxed. The max capacity of bluray currently is 500gb, 16 layer disc, and people expect it to go 1tb to 5tb in the future. I see no reason they would do 3 discs, unless 1 high capactiy disc is more expensive than the single layer discs.

You obviously haven't put much thought into what you're saying considering you end up answering your own questions and contradicting your earlier comments.

If 16 layer/400 GB Blu-ray discs were actually a feasible option as far as mass production for a video game, why would PD bother with releasing a product that's spread out over three discs. You said it yourself. The cost of producing a single 16 layer/400 GB disc at this point is probably far less economical versus producing three dual layer discs. These 16 layer discs are still in early development and it would be stupid to expect PD or any game developer to be able to adopt this fairly new technology so quickly. Not to mention it's been stated that a firmware update is needed to be able to play these discs. Not a problem for most gamers, but what would that mean for folks who bought GT5 but did not have any access to PSN? It would mean they get screwed over just like 360 Arcade owners who don't have a HDD and discover they don't get to enjoy all of Forza 3.

In all fairness I doubt that GT5 will be split in half like GT2 was, but all I'm saying is that at this point in time, nobody knows for sure and it would be stupid to rule out all possibilities until we're provided with more concrete information.

Let's do some simple math.

3, 25GB blu-ray discs = 75GB of content.
2, 4.8GB DVD's = 9.6GB (granted they can probably fit about 10gb per DVD with compression so that totals still only 20GB)

In terms of content, 75GB is a little more than 20GB.

Less polys? No customization? Where are you getting your information. Whatever source it is it's wrong. Cars have more polys then Forza and you know it so don't try and deny it. There will be customization but probably not as much as Forza which is fine for me (but that is a neat feature that Forza has) and yes it will have a few less tracks as of now but all the tracks are based off of real locations. Forza made up some tracks in locations which is fine but that's how they got more tracks.

Example - Assassins creed 1 - ps3 = 11GB 360 = 6.6GB. as well as a higher read speed to the ps3 BR speed of 2x.

your logic fails in that you somehow assume the 3 blu-ray discs would need to be switched out for gameplay. No where in the article do we know for sure what those 3 discs are. What people do know is that a dual layer capacity blu-ray is enough to store game content, leading many to presume the extra discs are for bonus content. It is clear on the 360 multi-disk games require disc switching such as Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey, and other games such as Forza 3 utilize the 2nd disc for installing extra content. Your logic fails for assuming "3 disc GT5 box" = "3 disc switching 360 game"

Actually, about 2gb's is used for security reasons. So it's really about 7gbs for each 360 disc.

And to the OP, Forza 3 has two discs BECAUSE IT COULDN'T FIT ALL THE CONTENT IN ONE DISC. This GT5 thing is obviously going to be a collector's edition which I'm going to buy two copies of. One for me, and one to store in an underground cave for 50 years and then I'll take it out and sell it.

Did anyone else watch this with their jaw dropped about 85% of the time, or was it just me? Also, the 3D program they are using is Maya. I know this because I myself have worked with it for a couple years and recognized the interface. The details on those cars are just mind boggling. I can wait a little while longer for the best racing game ever, but again that's just me :)

As for 3 disc BD. Great! I hope so. It means extras and bonus content. In Forza's case, the extra disc is them trying to stay on par with what's already expected in a racing title; passing it off as extras.

No. If you check the spine of the 3 disc cases, only one has the trademark PS3 logo and corresponding game title. Only one disc is needed for the actual game and the red and blue disc cases are most likely Bonus content for collectors editions.

The difference with the XBOX 360 is it needs 2 x DVD discs just for Forza 3 game while PS3 needs just 1 x Blu-ray for GT5. I know it sucks to have to load more than one disc for the 360, especially when you don't have a hard drive! (Arcade unit I'm speaking to you!) but if the PS3 was using DVD for games then it too would need more than 2 x DVDs for GT5 ...so there!

Remembered MGS4? They had the game disc, one blu-ray movie bonus, and the OST. what i don't understand is if GT5 does come with the soundtrack why is it on Blu-ray? I mean will we be able to pop it in our system and see it under music? If thats the case, then those rumored Blu-ray music disc are coming. But hey im sure as he11 know that by "bonus Content" PD means the making of, trailers, behind the scene rather then 45% of the game that requires to be downloaded

Who wants bonus crap? I don't care how they developed the game. Behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews are lame. Lets just produce more waste in packaging materials and plastic. Whatever happened to minimalism? Call me a tree hugger, I don't care, but that's just crap they could've fit into one case, not to mention the worthless slip cover.

Special editions are just ways for manufacturers to make quick extra cash. All of them are ridiculously wasteful. Collector's tins, extra cardboard, plastic, whatever, it all ends up in a land fill in a few years anyway.

Plus it says 3 disc, Now if you look at the cases there a red, blu, and black one that probaly the game right there. Now it looks like he is holding a collector edition, and the blu-disc is like the MGS4 disc that came with the game. Its probaly bous contents, and not extra cars and tracks like turn 10 didn't say in the begining, now that red one probaly is the OST. SO in total if the OST not blu-ray there is roughly 75GB(50 for the game and i bet 25 for the bonus disc). Funny how you bots say Blu-ray not the future 3 disc of Blu-ray blah blah blah. Well wouldn't that just be an indication that the games are getting bigger? I mean how many disc would it be then if GT5 did reuire 3 disc to play? allot of 360 disc. I wish more developers showed this kind of dedication towards their products. The way devs like Polyphony and Turn 10(easy now fanboys) spend months measuring and calculating every inch and feature of a car model is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Kudos!

Come on guys..& gals! The game will be on one disc and the rest bonus stuff that's not for the game just for show. I for one would love to see the behind the scenes footage as they make each car. I don't care if it's 24 hours long, I'll just watch it an hour a day at least.

The difference with the XBOX 360 is it needs 2 x DVD discs just for Forza 3 game while PS3 needs just 1 x Blu-ray for GT5. I know it sucks to have to load more than one disc for the 360, especially when you don't have a hard drive! (Arcade unit I'm speaking to you!) but if the PS3 was using DVD for games then it too would need more than 2 x DVDs for GT5 ...so there!

Sony and M.Benz working together to push GT5 all while adding class to the PS3 and the GT series. The game will be like a commercial for Mercedes new car.
This new relationship should have the same effect that Mitsubishi had with the Lancer and the Evo, and Nissan with the Skyline in the west.

You disappoint me since GT3 so to convince me better bring a better simulated PLATFORM & HANDLING, TIRE, ENGINE & TRANSMISSION than Forza3 because when i tune up my cars on Forza2 i rely on real calculations and end up with close to real life handling & reaction.

It's probably the disc 1 (actual game),disc 2 (making of the game) and disc 3 (gran turismo tv content).I doubt they would put the music soundtrack on a blu ray disc.

If you look at Blu-ray movies, some Blu-ray movies are up to 4 or 5 discs now. More discs packaging always gives the illusion it's more for the money. Disc 1 is obviously the game. Disc 2 could be bonus materials. While it's possible that Disc 1 is only BD25 to ensure disc 2 is needed than creating single BD50 for both disc 1 and 2. Disc 3 could be soundtrack because if it's in AudioCD format, it has to be on a CD.

If the it's the Collector's Edition, then more discs are a must to create the illusion you are getting more for the higher price.

Compared to God of War on PS2. GOW1 was on one DVD9 disc. GOW2 was on two DVD5 discs.
