PSLS Review: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

PlayStation LifeStyle writes:

"Uncharted 2, as an entire single player and multiplayer experience, is hands down the best experience the PlayStation 3 has to offer. Not only is it easily the game of the year, but it quite possibly is one of the best games of all time. If you own a PS3, you owe it to yourself to buy this game."

If this game does not win GOTY there is something wrong!!!!!!

ftwrthtx5300d ago

This game should win game of the decade.

Now that I've beat it on Hard (and almost on Crushing), it's obvious that the amount of work put into this game goes beyond any other title to date.

Sev5300d ago

DUDE!

Lazarovic on Hard was ridiculously difficult. I can't even imagine Crushing which is one or two hit kills.

SnuggleBandit5300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

can't wait til tommorrow. i'm dyin to get my hands on this game!

btw nice review sev!

decimalator5300d ago

Yeah, just from the trailers this baby is GOTY hands down. If it plays anything like the original and looks that good, there is no way it can be beat. And that's even without multiplayer and co-op.

doctorstrange5300d ago

This game should definitely get GOTY

UnSelf5300d ago

im also playin on Crushing but i seem to be pacing rather well. I guess my Uncharted 1 training has really prepped me for this game. For some reason Crushing doesnt seem as difficult as it did in UC1.

idk if thats due to my enhanced skills or just UC1 being slightly more difficult.

Oh man and im dreading fightin Lazarovich again :(((

deadreckoning6665300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

They jumped the gun saying it was EASILY the best game of the year. Poor journalism. Sessler said it was the best SP hes every played, but hes professional enough to not declare it GOTY yet. Fanboys can disagree all they want, but its something they shouldn't have said.

What about Demon Souls, Batman: AA, Modern Warfare 2, and Brutal Legend?

krouse935300d ago

you forgot to add your review to the Uncharted 2 Meta change the related games i think.

rucky5300d ago (Edited 5300d ago )

It's not GOTY, it's GOAT (Game Of All Time)

i got a question for everyone in here who has played MGS4 and Uncharted 2: is uncharted 2 better than MGS4?

i'm still surprised and revealed new stuff about MGS4 to this day on each playthrough. the amount of detail, length of the single player, excellent story writing and scripting, the easter eggs and cameos, the gameplay, the weapons and items, and just about everything in MGS4 (aside from the multiplayer) is sublime and perfect and i honestly have a hard time believing ND has surpassed the awesomeness of a metal gear game.

however, i loved the first uncharted and there were some things i liked about it more than MGS4 so i always leave the benefit of the doubt that maybe ND has passed up even on MGS4, which is my all time favorite single player experience.

so again i ask; is uncharted 2 better than MGS4?

badz1495299d ago

but all I'm gonna say is MGS4 is well on top in terms of production values! the focus on details and the inclusion of things which many will not even notice while playing the game is amazing and there is yet a game that can top it IMO! if Uncharted 2 is also emphasizing in such details, then as gamers, we are getting the blessing from the gaming god himself! Naughty Dog and Uncharted 2 FTMFW!!

Great review, cannot wait to get my hands on it

decimalator5300d ago

Picking that beyotch up tonight at midnight. I will stab anyone in line before me, don't you get in my way mofo.

DoucheVader5300d ago

I will most likely begin the game on Hard. See how it goes. Great review!

decimalator5300d ago

I like to play games like this on easy first so I can enjoy the story without getting frustrated by dying ever 3.2 seconds. Then another runthrough on Crushing. The original was pretty damned challenging on Crushing, it will be interesting to see how hard the new one is.

Currently playing Drakes Fortune on crushing, next will be to replay Among Thieves, but I'm sure it still holds up today.

P_Bomb1444d ago (Edited 1444d ago )

Recently re-platinumed 1-3. Uncharted 2 aged better than I even expected. I enjoyed it more now than I did a decade ago. It’s more polished than 1, tighter than 3 and Yemen in 3 was gorgeous. Shambhala out-prettied Ubar though. 60fps w higher res’ made for a damn good rerun.

Abnor_Mal1444d ago

Question: When you say Uncharted2 aged better than expected, are you talking about the original PS3 game or the remastered collection on PS4. I ask because I think that a remastered version of the game would look and play better than the original.

I doubt that the original ran at 60 frames, how many years old is the remastered collection anyway.

I need to replay the original trilogy along with the collection, not a fan of the collection trophy of beating levels in a set time and don't think the originals required that for platinum.

P_Bomb1443d ago (Edited 1443d ago )

@abnor_mal
It’s true that the remasters have upped the resolution and given it 60fps, but the base game is the same. The art design and base textures/physics/ animations are the same yet still look contemporary. More-so than UC1 which isn’t as tight, or UC3 in some cases which I found a bit clunky in close quarters.

UC2 level design was a great evolution in bringing the verticality from the jungle into rural/urban settings while maintaining smooth animation transitions. Drake still moves better than the ginger in Star Wars Jedi. Outdoor areas are better lit.

UC2 also has more action and better pacing imo, which helps when replaying a game 10 years later. Kept me engaged.

You don’t need to time trial for platinum. They stuck the speedrun trophies in a seperate extended dlc category so have no fear.

MadLad1444d ago

I thought the originals were good, but not great. I understand that puts me in the minority here. That said, Uncharted 4 was freaking fantastic.

Profchaos1444d ago (Edited 1444d ago )

Yeah I understand the hate for 4 prior to playing it I was firmly against it and felt like 3 wrapped things up already but now after playing it I think it was the best in the franchise.

Now I look back at two and I feel like I'm playing an on the rails shooter everything is so tightly scripted including the infamous train scene you simply can't make a mistake

Rimeskeem1444d ago

I think Uncharted 2 is a lot like AC2. Both games took the idea and basically improved it in every single way.

Movefasta19931443d ago

Uc2, AC2,Halo2, Soul calibur 2, Killzone 2, Infamous 2 , Dishonored 2 and a few more. The only negative thing I have against uc2, and imo it annoyed me,are the blue apes, uncharted 1 handled the super natural far better.
