Update on PS3 Firmware 3.00

like the fact its fugly n screws my font settings aint bad nough

the only real bonus was the dynamic backgrounds n speeding up xmb duo audio is cool 2 but only for those of us that use it.

they need to fix those game freezing issue asap n clean up the fug off the friends list that n give me back my fonts idc if the defaults al big n glossy jus let me set it bk the way it was...

I found a temporary fix, that works for me on uncharted. Use the backup utility to backup your data on a usb stick, then do the QUICK format and use the restore utility to get back your settings and saves. Make sure you sync your trophies first as those arnt saved.

Once I did this I could get my game to load. Unfortunately it will still freeze sometimes and once it does you have to do this again or it wont load. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but it has worked twice for me so far.

yeah i hired out KZ2 and it froze on me, i wasnt sure if it was the update or just bad luck.

i was in the middle of playing COD4 online, and my console shut off completely, i tried restarting it only to to have the LED go green, turn yellow, then blink red. tried a few more times to no avail. this was after the shiny update. anyone else experience this, i have to pay $160 to get it fixed, and i totally forgot PS3 just had an update. could it be a possible cause, cuz i dont really wanna pay $160 for a faulty update.... mines the 80gb (CECHE01)

had the web browser locked up on me each time I tried to use it. Please note I've only used it a couple of times since as I used my laptop to browse mostly.

Another thing is flash movie play back performance. It's not smooth for me as if it's skipping frames. Anyone else have this issue?

Other than that the browser works well before the freezing happened.

I started experiencing the browser freezing issue back in early 09 and it was really pissing me off but I found that when the sytem ask if you want to run the plug in you just select no... It disables anything that runs off a flash plugin on the screen but thats fine bc its usually a bunch of those annoying advertisements.... also you have to let the page load fully b4 trying to browse.. remember guys the ps3 has a low amount of ram to allocate due to the xmb running all the time now so you have to let the system catch up.. I know its annoying but hell we get a free web browser..

I am unable to post comments on facebook using the browser. I have been unable to do this since before FW 3.0. Someone please tell me how to post comments because so far I add my comment into the bar using the keypad on screen but when I click the SHARE button nothing happens.

Everything works perfect for me on 3.0, I just really dislike the new friends list, and the new font is a tad big for my liking. Like the sparkles (they can be turned off btw), and the What's New stuff is nice. Not anything major, they should've called it FW v. 2.90 instead of 3.0. FW 3.0 was supposed (at least in my head) to include x-game chat.

No disrespect to you or anyone else but all this complaining has to stop... obviously not everyone is going to agree with the design decisions thats a given you cant please everyone... But stop and think for a while.. Sony doesnt just change thing for no reason they always have a motive.. The large font, although distracting and hard to adjust to, more then likely is in repsonse to the fact that people were having alot of problems seeing the xmb while using a bright theme or background. Although they did add the dimming feature that made the backround dimmer. Same with the grey boxes, Opaque boxes make the text stand out and easier to see... Would it be nice to have an option to changer color? yea but sony didnt anticipate their user base charging the door pitch forks in hand over this.. give them time guys.. everyone is suddenely acting like the UI is the single most important feature of the ps3... everyone calm down and let sony do their thing..

On another note, I wish they had thrown in Internet Radio, a new browser and maybe Skype to make it feel like a substantial upgrade to 3.0! As it stands, 3.0 feels more like it should have been a 2.85.

I had YLOD occur about 1 am today and can't tell if it was my ps3's time or the firmware caused it to die.I would go with the firmware, but I downloaded two nights ago and didn't have a single problem until it started to freeze constantly when I was playing NCAA Football 10. Then when I switched to Warhawk it worked fine for about 15 minutes and then it shut down for no reason and it now will not turn on, but it keeps showing a pretty yellow light followed by a red light.

Oh BTW, I've tested most of my games, including Uncharted, with zero problems. Thats the trouble with the internet, all it takes is a few people having a problem and fanboy sites make it out to be everybody is having the problem.

besides the themes and the audio (which are the most important part anyways) the rest of the update was joke...

You can find the What's New on/off setting under Settings > System settings > Display What's New. Interestingly, there's a bug in the code that may require you to set it ON, logout, and then login again, set it to OFF, and then log out/in again to get it to work properly. I had to do that on my US account. (It worked correctly in my Japan account.)

Are you sure? We are talking about the annoying ticker underneath the clock. All i see is the option to turn off the Whats New as the first thing you see when you boot your PS3 up. I didn't think it had anything to do with the ticker.

The effect I was seeing was apparently related to my flaky internet connection. The ticker is back to its old annoying self. The technique described above does NOT work. Sorry, N4G'ers!

I personally love the update and everything works fine, but those damn gray boxes around the friends list is ugly and sloppy looking when you scroll.

I NEVER have a problem with my ps3 especially not freezing but today sonic ultimate genisis collection froze on the start menu,gta iv froze on me while online and dirt 2 demo froze on me I was like wtf lol hope this is fixed soon I like the new additions but this isnt right man smh.
