MGS4 / Killzone 2 PS3 bundle available ... now

Engadget: As Sony shoves one more PlayStation 3 bundle down our throats while we anxiously await the appearance of a slimmed-down version of the console, we have to admit that the game choices here are really top shelf. After catching wind of the Killzone 2 / Metal Gear Sold 4 PS3 bundle yesterday, we now have all the confirmation we need to believe that such a bundle is indeed filtering out to Best Buy stores.

I really hope there isn't a PS3 slim on the way. I really think the PS3 needs to find it's identity with the mass consumer and a new designed SKU will hurt that. If the rumour about the slim is true then this is a great opportunity to get your hands on the "original" model, great piece of HW with top notch components...very similar to when the Emotion Engine HW would be taken out the PS3, many didn't wait for a price drop but bought the 60 gigger at launch price and even today I have yet to meet someone that regrets it.

you get MGS arguably one of the best cinematic games of this generation and current console graphics leader in KZ2 a great FPS.

Most aspiring PS3 owners probably want at least 1 or both of these games.

This is by far the best bundle for hardcore gamers wanting a PS3. The Little Big Planet bundle is the best for casual so hopefully gamers will pick one of these up seeing, how the games buy themselves equal nearly $100 (MGS4 is now $30 and LBP comes with a Blu Ray). So the game are your price cut until the PS3 slim if there is one (which i believe there is) comes outs (which looks like it'll have a $100 price cut).

Uhm, the bundle is 399$, Metal Gear Solid 4 is 30$ (Amazon.com) and Killzone 2 is 50$ (Amazon.com), so the system is 320$. What are you waiting for? For Sony to drop it to 300$ WITHOUT games?

Have not been paying attention. Heck, SonyStyle has had several offers for the PS3 as low as 250.00 USD. This is a great deal and anybody that passes it up because the price is not low enough is simply making up excuses.

He is one of those silly people waiting for a "Rumor". Funny thing is that if the PS3 Slim comes out the miss features and lack of 2 AAA titles means you get screwed.

I hope this sales a lot so we can get KZ2 sales up and bring in new players. And for MGS4 maybe increase sales so much Kojima gives us some trophies.

The thing is I'm in no hurry what so ever to get a PS3 as long it remains as bulky as it is now. Knowing Sony THERE IS going to be a slimmer revamp down the line (PSX, PS2 Slim, PSP-2000/Go).

They also can't keep the console at $399/$499 forever. They're going to have to buckle at some point as that's just how technology works. I mean sure it's a great deal but then again having a slim PS3 would come in handy as it won't take up so much space in my entertainment center. Also, if Sony doesn't drop the price until next year or later and I decide not to get a PS3 until that moment then I'm sure Killzone 2 will be a Greatest Hit and MGS4 will be even cheaper.

Point being is that I'm perfectly content with the games for my PC for the time being. Sooner or later I'll get around to picking up the PS3 for its library of games but until my demands are met I'm not worried about it.

Will the PS3 slim actually cost less if they release one? Or will it be like the PSP Go, where it will cost more? My guess is the PS3 Slim will cost the same as the PS3 currently costs, and the PS3 models that exist today will get price drops.

Why buy a (assuming) stripped version of the PS3 slim for $399 when you can buy a regular 80gb for $299 or this bundle that includes two hit games.

I hope Sony doesn't go that route of the PSPGo. They should just sell it for $299 and call it a day.

To all haters of the PS3, actually play a game on the PS3, no wait just watch a friend play Warhawk, MotorStorm PR, Uncharted or MGO and tell me your not impressed. I find most haters have read negative things than actually played any of the impressive exclusives on the system.
But, this bundle is crazy, MGS one of the best 3rd person games of all time & KZ2 one of the best 1st person games of all time. Where do you go wrong?

Great deal. The pS3 is already cheap and with these games its an even better deal. the best FPS and the best known PS3 game all in one bundle. I'd say go to everybody who does not own a PS3 because this is better than the PS3 slim.

Nope... LittleBigPlanet bundle and the boxart is still the best up to date. LBP alone is the highest scoring exclusive on the PS3. KZ2 for sure doesn't come close to the more great and fresh games at all.

I see your point. However you have to consider what Sony is trying to do here. MGS4 is their largest selling exclusive, which probably has the most recognition since it has the most sold units for an exclusive on the PS3. And KZ2 is their Flagship. Remember they boasted the great graphics of that game for years till it finally was released. So the 2 most recognizable games to bundle together (since LBP has already been bundled on its own) would be MGS4 which basically plateaued in sales several months back and KZ2 which sales wise should have sold more.

I do think that this is the best multi bundle Sony could have put together. Sony needs to recoup on the money for the Development on KZ2 thus bundle it, and you add it to the most successful exclusive (sales wise) MGS4 with it.

And I see your point, but then again... MGS4 isn't something for the large public. Its something for the fans. And the real MGS fans already bought a PS3.

KZ2 I can see why its in the bundle. Just out, more overall shooter, largest budget spend on a game this gen I guess. I think KZ2 bundled with Resistance 2, or LBP would have made a much better bundle for the mass of people, gameplay wise, with LBP for sure more diverse, also pulling in gf's/wifes/kids to play the thing.

I agree. A better bundle may have been KZ2 with LBP. I think KZ2 is an obviouse choice for the multi bundle. It must have been tough call for for Sony to have decided which game to add. Maybe the LBP bundle is still available in some regions so they didn't want to add it to this bundle. But you have to admit that out of all the games that are exclusive in Sony's library...the main games so far have been KZ2, Infamous, LBP and MGS4. Infamous just came out so that's a no go, and like i said, LBP may still have bundles out there in certain regions OR maybe due to the non-casual crowd within the PS3's demographics they figured LBP may not be as big as an enticement than MGS4 and KZ2....

But i agree with you that a more diverse selection in the games would be better...asuming that there is an actual casual crowd out there in the PS3 demographics, and looking at the sales for games like LBP that was thought to destroy the 360 and push the PS3 above the 360 in sales, its clear that there just isn't enough casual demand out there for casual games on the PS3 mainly because the PS3 still cost too much for the casual crowd, hence the hard core bundle....

These games will spoil you rotten and ruin all other games for you.
This is like the best of the best and when the customer is ready to buy more games if they dont abuse the psn store first, look at all the options the customers has. Uncharted, littlebigplanet and the entire 2008, 2009 and 2010 lineup of games only found on a playstation 3.

Sony's priority is to get people to buy a ps3 and then get them to buy a psp and its working.

but there is no large number of people waiting for a price drop, most people who want a ps3 have one same with the 360, sure you will see an increase in sales but that bubble will burst. show me any console that three years into its life gained enough market share to dig itself out of third place. if i am wrong correct me dont just disagree, but from looking at multiple sources online no console have ever done so. Sony missed the boat this gen, too bad the console pumps out beautiful looking games like the two in this bundle.

Exactly, considering the PS3 selling as it is at the starting price point of $599, then $499, and $399 for as long as it has. It's not as doom and gloom as you make it out to be.

Other consoles that came out for similar prices didn't put a single dent in the market.

A $299 PS3 will shift a lot of units.

And there's still one major Sony first party game that will truly move units. And that's GT5.

Not even GoWIII will hold a candle to the hardware sales of GT5.

Play station exclusives don't sale so they have to bundle them so they can reach at least a million copies sold, for example Uncharted, LBP, MGS4, infamous, ect.. BUNDLE AT LAUNCH AT phucking LAUNCH!!!!!

All I'll point out is that those MGS4/PS3 bundles always used to sell pretty well, they've pretty much bunged in Killzone 2, another good game, so there's no reason this won't appeal to some people still interested in a PS3...

It won't break records, but it should move a few units.

What if only the SLIM is -100$? You'd be missing out on these amazing bundles with high quality hardware components. Not the lesser slim-line components.

This bundle is basically a fat PS3 for 320$. You really can't go wrong. Free online gaming, Free blu-ray, free wireless etc.. If your waiting then you don't really understand the sheer exclusive's the Playstation brand has and sadly your missing out on an excellent gaming generation.
