they shouldn't even announce a price cut after bobby was being an ass about it
i would do that just for the heck of it lol xD

anyways though a price cut would be good but if this is true a cut was already in the works before that guy opened his mouuth

JhawkFootball065417d ago

Hmmmm... Why would they do a price cut at this time when they could of did it at E3?... Doesnt make sense.

Party Boy5417d ago

Because the 199.99 360 outsold the 399.99 PS3 by only 40k last month in NA. Worldwide numbers are already even.

Mindboggle5417d ago (Edited 5417d ago )

If there doing a price cut it wont be for that prick bob.

PS3 does need a price cut though if they want to compete with the 360 and wii this christmas. Doing a price cut at E3 or half way through the year would of been pointless, simply due to many people dont buy consoles in Summer, and doing this would allow Sony to get extra money up until the price cut.

Many analysts including patcher have also said they expect a price cut at TGS so I can believe this.

irish-leprecaun5417d ago

then it was announced today. lame obviously sony wouldnt say!

UnwanteDreamz5417d ago (Edited 5417d ago )

I thought they said E3 wasn't a proper venue to announce a price cut. So TGS is?

gaffyh5417d ago

@1.1 This is why...if they announced a price cut at e3, they lose millions and dont sell much units because there's no must have title for the average consumer. If they announce at tgs it is close to the holiday season which is the best time for console sales. Plus they have 2 great games coming out r&c to promote to kids and uncharted 2 for hardcore gamers

hay5417d ago (Edited 5417d ago )

Lulz, everyone was shouting/begging for price cut for a long time. Everyone know PS3 needs it badly, now one prick makes a lame bluff-statement and people start to think the prick made a difference.
Yeah, Sony is so afraid of Activision which half revenue comes from Sony's consoles.

BTW, there were tons of predictions when the price cut will be announced. Well, some day someone will hit the spot.

GWAVE5417d ago

A price cut at E3 would make no sense. The only people who complained about no price cut announced were blind fanboys. Why would Sony cut the price in the dead of summer (the lowest sales of the year)? It makes far more sense to announce it closer to the holiday season.

Cthulhu5417d ago

Poor Sony, way too late for this. Now you are destined to be the worst selling console of this generation.

Gamecube dropped its price after 3 years and that didn't help at all, and Gamecube had a lineup of games that put to shame PS3's library.

mastiffchild5417d ago

UnwanteDreamz-Well maybe to Sony TGS is a far more fitting time AND place for the announcement. Just because a show happens outside the US doesn't make it some hick convention y'know?

Plus, Ninty AND Sony tend to share their stuff mych more between the two, probably as it's their big, home convention-in fact IIRC they actually spend a little more on their presentations there than at E3(though , personally, I'd like it best if the pair of them wer scrapped as they're mainly press junkets that waste cash that could be spent on console or game dev and tell us nothing that couldn't be released much more effectively and cheaply in other ways)over the past couple of years.

The timing of it, just pre Xmas, may also make it a great place for this kind of thinmg too-it's not as daft as you might think anyway.

MEsoJD5417d ago

Some versus 13 gameplay and Kingdom Heart 3 announced/teaser trailer(wishful thinking) ^_^

Oh also Final Fantasy VII remake. Just HD graphics and sound leave the gameplay.

In ways I'm more excited for the tokyo gameshow than E3.

eagle215417d ago

They already outsold the Gamecube at quadruple the price! What are you trying to imply? I had a Gamecube, but PS3 already outsold it in half the time it took Gamecube to only reach 21 million worldwide. :)

PS3 is selling faster than both xbox and 360. :)

PotNoodle5417d ago

JhawkFootball06, because E3 is months away from the busiest time of the year... why waste a price drop during a recession, at the least busiest time of the year for hardware sales?

TGS is at the right time, september - microsoft cut their 360 price in september which sent their sales sky high for months after that.

yippie1234y5417d ago

they would not make an announcement about making an announcement to cut the price...

...they would just do it.

all sales would come to a halt until the day of the price cut.

just not a good idea $$$ wise.

UnwanteDreamz5417d ago

You are right but explaining it to that guy is like explaining quantum physics to 3 year old. In other words you are talking over his head.

@mastiffchild
What you say makes sense but I think they could have chosen their words better when giving reasons for not announcing a price cut at E3.

tuglu_pati5417d ago

uh, uh, bad new for the 360.

Lifendz5417d ago

That's in October, no? I know it's a good ways off from now. I hope to god this doesn't take off for Sony's sake because people will essentially not buy a PS3 until the cut goes into effect.

hay5417d ago

@eagle21: Don't feed the troll.

ExgamerLegends25417d ago

I can say that fanatical prick needs to shut up and do his job. He can talk big and bluff all he wants but we all know he can't afford to not support Sony. The second the company becomes bigger than EA their attitudes turn to crap.

Anyway, I was pretty sure they would announce a price drop at TGS. Back when they were asked why no price drop was announced, Sony said that E3 wasn't the place to do it. Which obviously meant they would be doing it at another event. Closer to the holiday season makes more sense.

If you go to best buy or any electronics store that has a local competitor, they will pricematch the same product, if you find it cheaper, that way they keep your business. So i kept looking around and finally saw the 80gb $399.99 ps3 for 349.99(Hint:the store has a blue uniform, but barely sales any electronics, alot of software though). I went to Circuitcity(when it was still open, could go to bestbuy too)I got it pricedmatched with an additional 10%off the diff, so I payed $345.50, now people say"only $55bucks ?", but if you think about it, I only paid $45 more than a Xbox360 pro model thats $300, and i got a bigger harddrive and bluray player, intergrated wifi, for only $45. If something looks out of reach, don't be so quick to give up, there's always a way to get it!!!!!

Beast_Master5417d ago

"Why would sony wait till TGS?"

God you people are so dim. PSP Go will launch at 2X the price it cost to make on OCT 1, so Sony will have the drop occur at the same time as the go! Let's see, they make 100 on this hardware and then they lose 100 for every PS3 they sell, DUUUUHHHHH! "Hey George... who couldn't see this coming DDDUUUHH."

I called this weeks ago, and I think it is a brilliant move for Sony not to have to take as big a hit they normally would with a price drop.

DUH!

i wouldn't doubt a price cut at TGS. It would be the perfect victory dance at their homecourt. y'know?

Party Boy5417d ago

This isn't new nor confirmed.

eagle215417d ago

This story is spam material.

Jack Klugman5417d ago

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil3d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing692d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle2d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa2d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing12d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
