It's obviously part of what was on the Playstation.Blog last weekend. Games like White Knight Chronicles, Uncharted 2, and other ("super secret") games were going to be previewed for press.

Can't wait to find out what they are.

Here you go, Fishd. Article doesn't really reveal much, although being under NDA one would expect that. Interesting that he briefly mentions L.A. Noire...

The Super Secret Seattle Sony Press Event convinced me to buy a PlayStation 3

"Earlier this week I attended a two day long super secret Sony press event over in Seattle. After I got back to Kitsap I headed right to the store and purchased an 80-gigglebyte PlayStation 3 and a copy of Little Big Planet. I can't say what I saw yet but it made me want to go buy a PS3.

It was hands down the most money I have ever spent on videogames at one time. After sales tax it worked out to $499. It is still cheaper than getting a gaming PC but not by much. I don't see there being much chance of a significant price drop at E3 besides there are games I want to play before then.

It is sort of a business decision since I need a PS3 system to review PS3 games for this site. I'll have to save the receipt and see if I can deduct it as a business expense on my 2009 taxes.

I was a little surprised to see that it did not come with a Component AV cable and I used the Component cable I was using with my PS2. It took over half an hour to update the firmware before I could use it. It was nice to be able to get on my Wifi right out of the box without having to buy a separate Wifi adapter like the Xbox. I was glad to see it detect my D-link home media server and all the content I had on it looked great. It was also a lot quieter than I had expected. I would have preferred a system with hardware backwards compatibly with my PS2 games but I have my PS2 hooked up right next to it. One fun thing is that my PSOne games play perfectly through my PS3 on my HDTV. My fickle HDTV used to glitch out on PSOne games leaving them totally unplayable. I heard you can use the PSOne games on the PS3 and play them via remote play on your PSP. I'll give it a shot.

I after logging in to my PlayStation Store account I had set up to use with my PSP I re downloaded Crash Bandicoot 3 and Tekken 2 that I previously purchased for the PSP. Rag Doll Kung-Fu, Nobi Nobi Boy and Wipeout HD looked like to much fun for me to pass up so I bought them. I'll probably get Valkyria Chronicles this weekend. I installed Little Big Planet and ran all the updated but I have not had a chance to play it yet. Glad to see 8bitjoystick.com looked OK on the PS3 web browser.

I can't wait to get Fat Princess, InFamous, MAG, L.A. Noire when they ship and I have my eyes on Uncharted, Disgaea 3, Killzone 2, and Ratchet & Clank Future.

I'll probably get cross platform games for the Xbox 360 but there is a bunch of PS3 only games that I want to play. I might want to get Brutal Legend and King of Fighter XII on PS3.

Update: Brutal Legend has a multiplayer mode so I am going to get it on 360 for Xbox Live. Also I remembered I have good fighting game controllers for Xbox 360 so I'll get KOF 12 on Xbox 360

I really hope that Sega brings over Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 as Yakuza 3 with subtitles. I have yet to buy any Blu-Ray movies and I am not crazy about having to buy movies over again.

I can't wait to hear what all the people that called me an Xbox loving Xbot in comments on previous articles have to say about it.

At the press event I told they Sony guy that I was going to buy my first PS3. He pointed at the Xbox jacket I was wearing at the time and said that I was thinking like an Xbox 360 owner in needing multiple system.. Once you buy a PS3 you will never need to buy a replacement. Oh Snap!"

Thanks!have a buble!

Well he said he bought a ps3 and lbp, maybe he saw that "game changing" feature?!

http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News...

Or maybe he saw L.A Noire?!why did he even mention it?!Imean we have like zero info about that game,hmmm...Rollon E3!

BkaY5481d ago

the thing "i know something you dont... and i cant tell you..."

seriously WTF!

peace

shawnsl655480d ago

499 for an 80 gig + lbp? #_#

I would tell him to go buy it from dell for $316 or $341 (tax+ship included already), but he already bought it.

ChefDejon5480d ago (Edited 5480d ago )

i just got the yellow light of doom last sunday, and that was my second ps3 that i got back from sony.

FarEastOrient5480d ago

@Shawn

A $341 Dell computer will not even be able to play Medieval Total War, you'll be wasting your time and money thinking that buying a PC at that price will get you a decent gaming rig.

leyego5480d ago

wow learn how to read
u can buy a ps3 from dell for cheap
i got my bundle from them and it cost me 100 dollars less then if i got it from the a retail store

@chief
go back to ur xbot forum ur not welcome here

JackBauerIsHIGH5480d ago

LOL

Chef has never had an XBOX 360 in his entire life.

I love it when people on this site assume the stupidest stuff. He actually did get the YLOD on Sunday.

Jake11115480d ago

I dont think I believe this guy. I have both systems and I cant believe that any person who has that type of access to non public events would not realize the AWESOME games on the ps3 before someone showed him whats coming....???

Like come on! How can one go to any outlet and see MGSIV, MS2, RFOM2, and now KZ2 demos playing and not realize the games are miles above anything on the market????

This seems fishy.....

player9115480d ago

"I'll probably get cross platform games for the Xbox 360 but there is a bunch of PS3 only games that I want to play"

That article was funny. He says its so awesome but says he'll buy all multiplayer games on the 360 for LIVE.

He also says he spent so much time updating the thing that he didn't even get around to playing the game he bought.

The disagree fairy is out in force anyway.

Godmars2905481d ago

Now only if Sony could bottle that and force it down the throat of the ad division.

macalatus5481d ago

My fellow Sony gamers, this is truly a great moment as we now have a gamer who truly belongs to the real gaming enthusiasts which is us. I'm sure the author will appreciate the intelligence and maturity of PSN users who talk about quality games.

The people who will oppose this (including those who will hit the disagree button) are people who can't stand the idea that people can be smarter than them. We certainly hope that the 360 people, aka "misguided children of the video game industry", will also see the light and shed the idiocy imposed upon them by Microsoft. The author speaks the truth when he says that he won't be needing a "replacement" soon, a clear allusion to the PS3's reliability. Remember folks, MS has a very simple strategy in making people buy the 360s, which is shamelessly exploiting the low intelligence of people.

GiantEnemyCrab5481d ago (Edited 5481d ago )

As a PS3 owner who is also a proud 360 owner I find your comment offensive. You are basing intelligence on what plastic game toy they purchase? You are the kind of people they talk about when they say PS3 fanboys are the worst to ever grace gaming. You should be proud Mr. Intelligent.

I've had some of the best gaming ever on my Xbox 360 and I've owned systems back to the Atari 2600. So please excuse me when I say take your bullsh*t to the leper zone that away --->>

- Ghost of Sparta -5481d ago

ROFL @ macalatus. Here, have a bubble. :)

xabmol5481d ago (Edited 5481d ago )

I don't like the way MS does business, but GEC does have a valid point.

Do you remember that 1 question test you took when you first became a member here? Macalatus failed it. xD

baodeus5481d ago (Edited 5481d ago )

@malacatus

12 people who agree with u are either: you and your multiple accounts, or there are actually 12 idiots.

U are a disgrace to the gaming community, not only to your self but to your fellow Sony fans. U made gamers look bad and also to those who support Sony gaming console. U redefine the meaning of idiot.

And I thought that only MS brain wash people......

This stupid console war is really getting out of hand. It is like a religion now for some reason. Game consoles are only for playing games. I don't get where these fanboys get their pride from. Does owning one make oneself better? Go out and do something more productive that could help you, *looking at malacatus*, to grow a brain.

God, most epic fail preaching ever.

leyego5480d ago

i more i see it the more i laugh

for some reasons i keep relating hardcore fanboys to ppl who live with there parents, still go to highschool, no job (or have a crappy job), and have nothing better to do then argue about whos pen15 is bigger.

get a life, fanboys are not popular here and there not popular in real life either.

MicroSony4Life5480d ago

Sh!t dude, get out of your parents basement, stop stuffing your face with Burger King, Stop watching so much porn, go school , get a job, get girlfriend and while you are at it get a life.

macalatus5480d ago

My fellow Sony gamers, the people who responded to me above except Ghost of Sparta clearly are "misguided children". As you can see, they love to attack the mature people as having no life at all simply because Sony gamers tend to be smarter than them.

Take for example badeous and leyego...two people who claim to be "smarter" than a mature and intelligent Sony gamer. What is ironic, my dear Sony gamers, is how "ugly" was their use of the English language. Badeus spells "you" as "U", while Leyego failed to capitalize the first letters in his sentences. MicroSony4Life is another example of the low depravity of Xbox users. He has the avatar of a homeless looking person, and yet he accuses us of living in the basement, jobless, and doesn't go to school. Where did he get these ridiculous ideas? Simple, my friends, MicroSony4Life DOES the same thing in his own real life, and he can't bear the idea that others are better off than him. Hence, he believes that Sony gamers should be like him in that we are jobless, no school, no girlfriend, and no social life whatsoever.

So my friends, whenever you feel sad about your own life, or have doubts about being a Sony gamer, feel free to look at the examples above like GEC, Xambol, badeous, and MicroSony4Life and I confidently believe that you'll be happy that you aren't one of them!

leyego5480d ago

wow just wow...
first of all ur opinion is just that. stop forcing it onto others. just because ppl buy a lesser quaility machine doesn't mean they're stupid. theres tons of smart ppl (atleast smarter then u) who have 360s. y u ask? because there REAL gamers, unlike u.

How is this my ignorant fellow? Is the how you want everyone to type on the internet? To be able to use proper sentence structure, and top class spelling?

if u think ur better then us ur not. your the type of guy that pisses me off the most, u think everyone should agree and follow u because u claim to be one of the "better" ppl in the world when ur just trash. only low class trash compares there lives with others just to make themselves look better.

this is the internet my friend, typing it unique, its an art, it makes you you in the sea of voice.
join the mainstream and shutup.

gvie me a braek

xabmol5480d ago

Get a life, Dude. You clearly posted in the wrong section.

You basically said that anyone who owns a PS3 is smarter than anyone who owns a 360. That in it self is just ignorant.

So don't try to rag on me, Fanboy.

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell Of Ar Ciel Retro Review – Love Conquers All

Gary Green said: You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t heard of the Ar Tonelico trilogy. The previous two games arrived so late in the PS2’s life-cycle that they simply went unnoticed. While most were tinkering with their shiny new PS3s, Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica were being ‘returned to sender’ by your local Game stores. Luckily, you won’t need to have played them to understand and appreciate this third and final chapter, Qoga (pronounced k-yoga) tells the story of a racial war between humans and Reyvateils, a breed of biologically produced female cyborgs capable of reproduction, while still having a digital mind.

Oh my god. I kinda wish this would get a remaster on PS5, it would be awesome. One of my favorite games on PS3.

That and 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a shame that some stuff is stuck on PS3.

Knightofelemia1h ago

Ar Tonelico 3 is good I still prefer the first AT game. The music is solid in all the games and Akiko Shikata is a very talented singer bringing life to the game. Only annoying part is well I find is Saki I always choose Finnel or Tyria. KOEI so needs to HD remaster the franchise along with Ar Nosurge and Ciel Nosurge since it never came to North America. I would day one the Ar Toneliceo games and Ar Nosurge if they were remastered.

TheColbertinator26m ago

I still have the limited edition of Qoga unopened. Unfortunately it never went up in value like I had hoped all these years.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies1d 7h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken1d 2h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 18h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 18h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d 17h ago (Edited 1d 17h ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d 17h ago (Edited 1d 17h ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos1d 14h ago (Edited 1d 14h ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt1d 5h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken1d 2h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
