PS3Gen french website reveals that an internal source, which has already proved reliable, confirmed that a price drop of the Playstation 3 and the PSP is scheduled for early June. The price drop may correspond to the E3 convention.

The PSP's price will drop to 169 euro (instead of 189 euro), and the new price of the PS3 is unknown, but its price could drop to 299 euro.

The source revealed that the PSP 2 is expected, and should be out before the end of the year.

Here in Norway the PS3 has had a temporary price drop in april. It has sold for 3290 instead of the usual 3995 as long as stock lasts.

It might indicate that they are trying to get the current stock out to make room for some new deal come E3. We'll see then...

....if a price drop does happen here in the US, most stores (like Best Buy and circuit city when it was open) will honor the price diff for up to 90 days. So, buy it, hold onto receipt, and if in 90 days it drops, take in receipt, show it to them, and they will give you back the difference.

considering Sony has always continued to support their platforms for a few years after the re;ease of it's successor, they could technically release a PSP2 while still giving a very stong year for the PSP.

However, the PSP will only be about 5 years old (in japan) at the end of 09, yet they stated they wanted to give it a 10 years lifespan, both the PSX and the PS2, while they didn't truely lasted for 10 years (between the initial release and the initial release of their successor), it would give the PSP somewhat of a short lifespan. What are you talking about? The PS2 has had great games come out even with the PS3 present. Did you not play Persona 3/4/FES, Odin Sphere, Mana Khemia, KOF anthology etc.? There's even recent games like Devil Summoner 2, Secret agent clank, Guilty gear XX accent core plus, Samurai Showdown anthology (6 games), Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock (May/09), Guitar Hero Greatest Hits (Jun/09), Mana Khemia 2 (Jun/09), Tigerwoods PGA 10 (Jun/09), NCAA football 10 (Jun/09) etc.? Even in the current gen, the PS2 has been releasing some of the the best RPG's you can find.

both Personas sold reasonnably well, from what I heard, over half a million each, and were both considered to be among the best RPGs of their respective release year, P3 going as far as winning the GameSpot RPG of the year award.

P4 was also arguably the best RPG of it's year and one if not the best RPG for the PS2, which means alot.

I guess it depends on your definition of "AAA", for some it's the overall score of over 9/10, while for some, it's score and sales, and for some, it's score, sales and hype. For me, a "AAA" title is a game with a score of over 9/10, and both Personas achieved that on most gaming websites I visitm like IGN, Gamespot, Gamepro and 1up. I don't think it's fair to say that a game ain't AAA just because it is not aimed at the masses like a shooter or a sport game.

Odin Sphere and Persona 3/4/FES are more qualified to be AAA RPG's than the RPG's released on the 360 to date. You calling them niche doesn't eliminate the fact metacritics score for Persona 3 FES is 89 while Persona 4 is 91, compared to 78 for Lost Odyssey. I hate going by scores b/c they generally don't represent what I think, but a score of 91 does constitute AAA, right? If not, than all arguments based on (stupid) metacritic numbers are null and void.

I've wanted a PSP since Metal Gear Portable OPS, but it seems ever since then all people can do is rumor a PSP2. Well for me if E3 or Tokyo Game Show this year doesn't announce one, then I'll buy one used from Gamestop to finally have at the few PSP games I really wanted to play.

the last time the ps3 got a price drop it outsold the 360 not only around the world but mostly here in the u.s until the ms furter drop their prices as well.
