FIGMA has released finnish software sales figures in the form of percentages. Finland represents 6% of total European sales and 4% of total sales in the PAL region.

the scenario is same all over the world except Uk and Usa. In UK though ps3 and x360 are neck and neck despite huge price diparity

also to reply to you France is the second biggest gaming market in europe which is the biggest gaming market for consoles

also u have seen that PAL makes up 50% of worldwide sales and US is 30/35% i guess.

first off the 1 million EU lead doesn't come from MS it is confirmed by GFK too.

As for France the ps3 has a 100K lead but has been outsold by the 360 since september. The same situation has occured in Germany, Spain and Italy (where the 360 somehow managed to outsell the wii for a few weeks).

GFK if anything but bullshit on sony's claim they are 300K ahead in the EU.

And if you believe the 360 is only selling well in the UK and the US then you are beyond reasoning with. MS sales have increased greatly from last generation - they have never been this successful. Thats not to say the ps3 isn't doing well. It is. Isn't it good to have 3 consoles selling very well?

And if you think the ps3 has a chance of matching the wii then you are even more beyond reasoning. You think if sony cuts price then nintendo or MS won't? The only reason sony didn't respond to MS's pricecut this year is because they really couldn't have afforded too.

There are how many countries in the EU? 21 total, so that 6% would be above what the 'average' EU country number would be. (4.2% (per country, appx?)), and if you take out hte UK's 30% (I think that's the number right?) that brings the total down.. to about 3% per country as average. So Finland is double the EU average.

Does it mean that any one console has a huge advantage over another? Nope... it just means that you can take any numbers/any region and turn them one way or another, as you see fit.

france represents the second biggest gaming market in europe. almost as big as UK. also x360's fate is same in spain, germany ,italy . In spain ps3 overtook x360 in lTD hw sales in the first month of its rlease. In germany and italy too ps3 is ahead by a considerable margin. In arab world which is the biggest region in the pal region ps3 has a 80% + marketshare

U would have to be a huge fool to even believe that x360 ever sold in the arabian states after iraq war. MS surprisingly added Middle east in their pr statement. X360s selling in muslim world is the same as muslims eating pork = thing that will never happen especially after iraq war

German, italian, and numbers of other regions will be posted too and all will show that ps3 has the advantage

add in Arabian numbers and you have ps3 over x360 by a million in PAL

Yeah, here in Finland Ps3 and X360 do seem more popular for some reason. Altho PC gaming is still probably the most popular choise which might relate to ppl wanting to get more hardcore experiences with their consoles.

Also the fact that majority of ppl have access on internet connection of somesort makes the Ps3 and X360 slightly better choise as Wii:s online gaming is ... well you know..

X360 did pretty good with its price drop tough, I am actualy starting to see X360:s around my neighborhood.

Also I would like to note to the numbers that many Hardcore gamers from Finland tend to import their games from UK and US, expecialy now since value of £ is so close to €uro.
Why? well lets take my recent purchase, Far cry 2 for example. If I would want to buy it from local store it would cost me 69€ now If I order it from Uk I can get the same game for 20-30€(delivery fees included) depending if theres some juicy discount gampaing going on.

Maybe 6% doesnt seem much, but considering UK probably has about 30% of gamesales in Europe it seems pretty good. But if Microsoft and Sony start ignoring little countries it would not do them any good.

Finland, sweden and maybe even Norway are all highly educated modern countries, that means that most of us above age of 15 can talk english pretty well so theres no real need for subtitles and dubs making us countries where you can pretty much sell the same game as they sell in UK.

However as "big" and "great" countries UK and Us are, the headline might have had more impact with statistics of Nordic countries instead of just Finland as we are all from the same "marketing area" (this would be Sweden, Finland, Norway and probably Denmark.)

But gotta say SCEE has done pretty good job for the past few years. With giving us "own" games like Singstar Finnish Rock (Rock/metal > any other music genre in here) and BUZZ both completely translated at dubbed making them very appealing for casual gamers and children here. Microsoft can try winning with their Scene it and Lips but to tell the truth, they dont look nearly as appealing.

Every % counts, and Scee is doing pretty well to get every % they can get.

The examples of denial from PS3 fanboys here remind me the time when PSP entered the market. For a long while they were trying to deny the sales data and claimed them to be fake or false until it was simply too idiotic to deny the truth of DS totally winning in sales.

well it varies a lot by person. Some ppl do get more than they might need but for many students for example it might not be enough as the price of books alone is half of what some of them get per month.

But yeah, its pretty nice to see more of these statistics here, not just Uk and US ones. But as some fanboys might hope or think I this doesnt have much of value to console wars in general. But why should it?

When have the numbers MS ever released have been true?

Heck just a few months ago MS made it seem they ruled over Japan and was taking over. Then turns out they actually sold less in 08 then they did in 07. I give them credit for great PR talk, they can spin numbers like no other.

But to give MS some defense I do hope Winows 7 is good. I'm downloading the beta as we speak.

Anyway, the PS3s slight lead does not surprise me, seeing as the PS brand is more internationally known for gaming. The 360 is starting to make an inroad though and that cannot be denied.
