An Italian journalist, otherwise known as TTP on gaming forum NeoGAF, has just received his copy of Killzone 2. The full game is in his hands and he couldn't wait to express his feelings on the game so far;

im really impressed by killzone 2 ... i'm thinking about borrowing a ps3 from a friend or buying a used one to play this ... my only concern is that everyone seems to be blown away only by the game's graphics and they don't put the same enthusiasm about the gameplay when they talk about it... or sometimes don't mention it at all

All I`ve ever heard about the Gameplay was it`s alot like COD4. Which isn`t a bad thing.

The focus on graphics is generated from the HYPE of E3 2005's trailer. Too many people bagged on Sony and GG for releasing pre-rendered footage. So what do we get now? Graphics that fall short, meet, and even surpass the trailer in different areas.

By fall short, I mean the fluidity of pre-rendered footage is extremely hard to match by actual game play.

By meet, I'm talking about the intensity, the sounds, the violence, the pure carnage is all there.

And by surpassing, the lighting, the COLORS, the fire effects, the variety of helghast, and of course does this by all being rendered by the PS3.

So that's why all people do is talk about graphics when it comes to Killzone 2.

But having been in the beta myself, the gameplay lives up to the graphics. It's like a Gears of War 2 and COD4 had a baby and Killzone 2 popped out. Which is a very F'in good thing.

I know, it's a real shame. But to many sources list rumours (some strong),or quotes from (official) magazine editors about co-op being patched post launch. I like to think GG/Sony know it is something to be expected of FPS games now. I know COD4 didnt but still, the majority do.

I'm pretty damn confident a patch will come, but GG/Sony wont want to talk about it so close to release. Why descuss the one negative? they'll be pushing all the positive aspects and rightly so.

If it's going to happen, I expect to start hearing about it just after release.

Let's just say the GG and Sony R&D have been dedicated to making the one player mode and online game as good as anything you'll ever experience to-date. As much as I love the idea of co-op mode, I would prefer to have their resources dedicated to what I will be spending most of my time on, online and single player. It's been in the works for 4 years, utilizing the best of technology available. Let them continue their focus and let's cross our fingers for a co-op patch in the near future...No compromises, quality over quantity!

It will be, Killzone (original) while being rather, meh. Had a really strong following online, impressive when you think that was on the PS2 network.

Plus, it's addictive as hell and as far as I'm concerned an unrivalled FPS on the consoles. It's superb. Oh, and having different game modes roll seamlessly into each other does something weird, it makes you lose complete track of time.

Frankly, compared to KZ, Resistance 2 is weak. Disagree if you like, but I bet the majority will agree after some hands on time.

Well, I'm loving Resi 2! Playing a lot of fps in the past has got me really bored of them, which is why I didn't pick up COD:WAW. In fact I only own Resi 1, The Darkness (which isn't really a FPS but is bloody brilliant!) and now Resi 2. I love the weapons in the game as they are so different (Just got my hands on the Wraith...epic!) I will get Killzone 2 only because I have the first one and Liberation on the PSP and they felt a bit different to the hundreds of other fps's out there. I bet Killzone 2 will be the only fps I get for a LONG time unless The Darkness 2 comes out this year! Do your self a favour and go get Resistance 2, you will NOT be disappointed.

I agree with that. There is no denying KZ2 is a must for every PS3 shooter fan. No doubt about that. R2 is more then a placeholder though. I wasn't so much into competitive, though (even prefer Bad Company's MP more), but co-op got me hooked (1M vs. 100k xp says it all). KZ2 will be my new competitive, that's what I see coming. I actually saw R2 dip the first time yesterday in a co-op match because I reached one of that level they throw so much at you, that the framerate dips. Which says a lot for that game, because its always busy - without any hick up (ever had this moments where you stand back to that wall yelling "WTF" for a couple of minutes sweating when its over? Yeah, that moment). Yeah, I still think KZ2 will blow me away (I hope so), but R2 ain't a bad game, either.

I belong to one of the European gamejournalists and I'd received yesterday not the preview code but the full game. So that means Sony is sending out review copies to the press.

I've played the game since then and I can say it's awesome. But another employee at my office had completed the game within 5 hours (on easy btw).

one of the mag staff on NeoGaf stated that he completed it in just under 6hours, however he rushed through it as fast as he could as he had a deadline to meet.

For the average gamer i suspect this will be a 7-10 hour game which given the length of some FPS/TPS this gen (Gears 2 and Cod i'm looking at you), is acceptable. Still The multiplayer is what made me pre-order this title

The didn't keep the different characters as far as we know, so I would guess that they would've kept the ability to traverse multiple paths, but you can never be sure. Hopefully yes.

For all the haters, Gamestop has beta access code for those of us with the Killzone 2 pre-order. I have played this and weather I am gonna be called a super fan or not...THIS GAME IS THE NEW KING OF SHOOTERS!!

I can honestly say that this game is about 92% of what the legendary 2005 E3 CGI trailer got so much hate over. This game is sick....making Gears and Halo (combined) look very much dated. I will say that although I am not a 360 fan, the system is awesome and delivered great games. However, the Ps3's Cell engine and overall construction was desinged to please it's fan base for 10+ year, just like both the Ps1 and Ps2. I'm sure the next installment of Halo Recon will be cool, but KILLZONE 2 is exactly what I expected and why the Ps3 is the definitive system of choice for not only games, but media use as well.

Am I missing something? I appreciate that HD vids aren't always accurate but with MGS4 looking at the trailers it was very easy to tell it was going to be phenomenal!
