Well, sales are kind of important because sales often decide whether we will see a sequel or not and how much money will be spent towards said sequel. It also is a good indicator of how desirable a game is to people in general.

If a game I like gets poor sales that doesn't mean I am going to stop liking or playing that game, but you can't act like it doesn't matter.

It varies from site to site. Some even have the stupid letter system still, but for the 5/5 ratings people like to multiply the scores by 2 to bring them back to 10/10 scale, even though that doesn't make much sense.

PSM used to be a good magazine. They changed Editor-In-Chiefs the week before they reviewed Warhawk and Lair...which made us all angry when Warhawk got a low score. Warhawk was amazing! The Editor-In-Chief from OXM took over, giving us the impression that there would be a slight bias from then on. It was so.

Nobody reads PSM anymore because Chris Slate and a few others are gone. It sucks now. It's not very entertaining.

I think the way it works is, whenever reviewers are done early with a game AND give it a good score, the publisher will let it go public. That's why bad reviews usually pop up around the time the game is actually being released, because the publisher can have the review wait until the release date.

I picked up Resistance the other day in anticipation of getting my PS3 (once my Sony card gets here). KillZone 2 will be the second game I purchase and is the main reason I've wanted to get a PS3. it's all coming together quite beautifully.

IN my humble opinion Resistance was good not great. It was a average shooter with great weapon design. The gameplay, storyline and characters were uninteresting really. I did like the difficulty. Just don't see why so many people drool over the game. That's just my opinion though really. Uncharted though is my favorite game of this gen. One of the best games i played in a long while. The whole experience reminded me of the first time playing GoW. Not that the games are similar, just that amazing experience was the same.

But i know different strokes for different folks.

I prefer single player games to multiplayer. The experience is better to me. I've played most of the current big multiplayer games and while some of them are pretty fun they don't come close to the fun i've experienced with single player only games. I'm a old breed by current standards though. Now almost every game has to have some type of multiplayer support or it'll get looked down on a fair bit.

Both of the Mostorstorm games look very bland in all the trailers and demos.

But whenever you play the final game, it looks 10 times better and plays much much better too!

Motorstorm Pacific Rift is really underreated.

Reviews were ok and I wasn't expecting too much. But man, I have to say Motorstorm PR is really really great. It's an awesome race, graphics are really impressive and the gameplay is intense and fun.

If you like offroad racers M:PR will not dissapoint, it's the best there is at the moment. Run out and buy.

mt, proclaiming Resistance 2 as one of the best FPS games of 2008 does not do it adequate justice in my opinion, as 2008 was a poor year for shooters. Resistance 2 aside, Left 4 Dead, World at War and Crysis: Warhead were the only notable FPS games to be released last year.

I'll chime in on: Resistance 1 and 2 (great the both of them), LBP, Uncharted, MGS4, and Siren Blood Curse (PSN game)....but that's not to say the rest suck, those are my fav's...oh, and Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD (both PSN also)...many other good ones too.

I must say, this listing of a dozen or so gamers are all agreeing as I would, that the 360 and a PS3 means the best of both worlds...Hey, funny, I doubt a bunch of 360 gamers on this site would be this rational if the flipside were presented. I'm sorry, but again, I keep seeing PS3 fans on this site act so much more logical than the 360 fans (note I say fans, not fanboys, big difference), and I don't know if it's because the many 360-only owners I see are in the PS3 articles so of course they are fanboys if they're there, or what it is, but it's clearly evident. I would love to also have a 360, but I NEVER see a 360 fan here say that about PS3 if they don't have one. I'm not going so far as to make a stereotype about the fans of each console (even though it sounds that way), I'm just saying after spending my time here, this is more an observation....

My awesome wife though, went and got it for me when she got off and had it waiting for me when I got home. :-D

I was getting it all set up during the end of the Colts/Bolts game, so that was pretty exciting.

Once I got it all set up, I popped in Resistance and played for a bit. The game looks pretty good, especially considering it was a launch title. I had to map out the buttons a little better to what I'm used to. Not sure why the 'trigger' isn't actually default for shooting. :-|

I took a couple pics of it, and the Xbox 360 and PS3 look very happy together hehe. ;-)

Oh and as for game suggestions, I'm not really interested in MGS. I'm not too keen on stealthy games. I played Uncharted at a buddy's house for about 30 minutes to an hour, and couldn't really get into it.

My funds are limited for now, and KillZone 2 is at the top of my gaming priority list right now. If I like Resistance, I'll probably have to get Resistance 2 eventually, but that's getting way ahead of myself at this time.

oh and STICKzophrenic is my PSN (and XBL) gamertag if anyone wants to add me. I don't have a headset yet, but that will also come in time.

of those games were shoe-ins for me months ago, ASAP purchases (asap meaning when the money is available...).

I'm totally excited that KZ2 has bots in it for single player practice or skirmish, however you see it. It's so rare an FPS does that anymore, they all focus more and more on human confrontations, and the bots of the past are rare...I know they can't replace a human, but they are good for offline times, or for practice, etc... I remember back when I played the hell out of Perfect Dark 1, I threw in all those Sims and gave them personalities and whatnot, and it was nearly as fun as humans at times.

You're right, they both have great games. I think the 360 currently has somewhat more games that I wouldn't want to live without, but the PS3 is doing better and better all the time and will probably catch up fairly soon. It doesn't matter though because I have both and I enjoy them both.

Xbox 360 is better, because its online is much better, multiplatform games are usually better looking on it, and it has an awesome library of games. PS3 is behind in all those areas, but it does have Blu-ray capability and better reliability. I like my 360 better for gaming, but the PS3 isn't bad and is actually better at some things.

Who could have imagined Killzone 2 getting a 5/5 from Official Playstation Magazine i was hoping for less from that site. I do believe this is REVIEW code, as there was an article on Neogaf where somebody posted photos of the review code pack they received just before christmas. However I also thought there was an embargo until end of Jan but if its Official PS mag than I guess its fine :)

Bought or not Gears 2 doesn't deserves a 10 in my opinion. Only an hour into it I had already thought of near a dozen things that mare the game which I wont go into. I'm not hear to talk anyone out of liking Gears. Its just a game that was practically guaranteed 10's before it was even out and its not because of the quality of it. Even the games strongest point, its graphics, were underwhelming to me. They were very nice certainly but nothing special at all. A microstep ahead of Gears 1. Not the mindblowing experience the Xbox faithful make it out to be. Then theres the bugs. Oh the bugs. 8 out of 10 for me. Thats still a good score and its still a good game, just not a 10.

The reason why there will be early reviews is because the game has been ready for release for a while now. The only reason its not coming out until Feb is that Sony didn't want to release it to close to Resistance 2.

The second reason is that magazines get the review copies earlier since they release monthy whereas a website can release reviews whenever they like

I received my issue yesterday..the thing is they gave the game a 5/5 even WITHOUT being able to access the online multiplayer mode. So that HAS to say something about the quality of the game.

Right now though I am enjoying the hell out of Gears of War 2. It is truly one of the best games I have ever played. It exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. The only reason I bring this up is because some people are trying to act like the 360 sucks because it doesn't have Killzone 2, but it has its own great shooter in the form of Gears 2.
