PSBlog: PlayStation Home beta update

The official PlayStation Blog has an update on Home:

"We are aware that some people may be experiencing difficulty in accessing the PlayStation Home beta at present. This is due to overwhelming demand for the service as people access Home for the very first time since it became Open Beta and appeared on the XMB.

While we prepare solutions to ease the problem, you may continue to experience difficulties accessing Home. We kindly ask for your patience as we work to meet the incredible demand for this revolutionary service."

With all the constance bashing it gets, I was thinking it was gonna be pure rubish. But it's not bad, I'm finding out, it's not much different than a more interactive chat room.

Just like in a chatroom, your looking to talk to chicks, so everyone in home seems to usually flock around female avatars.

i found this worked

make sure your signed out b4 you start HOME

then allow HOME to sign you in

seemed to work for me and i was able to walk around and check stuff out...not much to really check out but im sure that will change over time....I WILL NOT SPEND ONE PENNY ON HOME

EVER

In Home, like NXE or Wii your given the basics for nothing. In home it's your own Apartment to decorate, basic clothes, etc.

Extra's, like any other service are...well...Extra!
In Home you can even WIN extra's like clothes, decorations, even arcade games in some regions!

Spend on what you want...win what you want...or not at all.
The options YOU choose are entirely up to YOU.

Until I got Trophy room , picture frames , and a flat screen TV in my pad im not happy, Im not sad either its coming along.

Don't get your hopes up for a trophy room - the last we heard of it we were expecting video sharing and a release in 2007...

im guessing we will see stuff like that added over the next couple weeks. Let the traffic die down a bit and allow the ppl that might really enjoy HOME enjoy

im not going to say HOME is the NEXT BIG THING

because thats Broc Lesnar

but i will say i like to play chess and if at the end of the PS3 life cycle i can find a game of chess in HOME it will have done a good job for me....i really wonder how GT5 is going to be handled thou

I was just playing Chess in the mall last night. If you are having trouble finding a game of Chess (or pool or arcade or what have you) try leaving and coming back. The mall isn't the same everytime (different people usually) nor is the Movie Theatre, Bowling Alley, or Central Plaza. I noticed this when 2 of my friends who live right next door to me were in the Movie Theatre the same time as I was and we couldn't find each other until we jumped to where the other person was.

So, I Finally Played Home

I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
