The club at the top of the hotel--aptly called the View--provided a complete 360 of the bay city and was the perfect location to dig into a game that features players running from rooftop to rooftop. Thankfully, there were no orange signs or parkour lessons to be had that evening. But after a few cocktails and a brief introduction from DICE's Owen O'Brien, we headed off into the "utopian" city that make's up the setting for Mirror's Edge and into the game's previously-hazy Time Trial mode.
For anybody that's not familiar with Mirror's Edge, know that it's a first-person parkour-inspired action game (think the introductory chase sequence from Casino Royale). Players take on the role of Faith, a courier who's tasked with delivering sensitive information in a city that tightly monitors the distribution of information and communication. In other words, she's running and diving around the rooftops of the city, avoiding detection and outrunning the law."
