GameSpy recently had the chance to get our hands on DICE's upcoming first-person action adventure game, Mirror's Edge. The developers best known for the Battlefield games have taken a novel approach to their latest title, sticking to the first-person perspective but utilizing it in a game with an all-new premise that's a stark contrast to other games in the gun-filled action landscape. In this modern-day setting, the protagonist, Faith, is a "runner," a courier of information who must avoid capture by a government intent on keeping tabs on its citizens whether they like it or not. Think George Orwell's "Nineteen Eight-Four" meets first-person Tomb Raider.
Spiffy:
Free-roaming exploration leads to new experiences each time you play; time trials add competitive alternative to story mode.
Iffy:
GameSpy didn't have the chance to check out combat; they're not sure how mouse and keyboard controls will end up.
