Famitsu News: - White Knight Story to launch on 25 th December 2008 in Japan

Famitsu has revealed that White Knight story would be coming to PS3 exclusively in Japan on 25/12/2008

The much anticipated title has also been renamed as:-

"White Knight Chronicles -Heartbeat of the Ancients- / -Ancient Pulse-"

Famitsu further reveals some interesting info on the title. According to the developer Ryko WKS is:-

"-Largest/most extravagant title he's ever worked on and will more than likely remain that way.

-Alludes to being interested in producing a sequel...WKC is probably only the first chapter in an epic story

-Includes an aspect which go beyond typical RPG gameplay which is only possible on PS3, but hasn't been revealed yet "

I think what he is trying to say that because of the level they made this game, it will hurt the sequels meaning that people will expect more from each installation of the series. Eternal Sonata, guarantee there's nothing sloppy about it. Tales of Vesperia would be another great Nacmo Bandai game to come to PS3 if it were to happen. My only complaint is that I don't play this waiting game. First come first serve. I already bought Eternal Sonanta after that knucklehead said there were no plans for a US release. So since then it's first come first serve. Games out, I want it, I'll buy it...

That's a shame seraphim. The PS3 version of Eternal Sonata adds cutscenes that expand on the story line, supposedly clearing up some weak points of the original narrative.

yep, it is a shame. I was holding out for the PS3 version and once that bonehead (reportedly) said there weren't any plans for a NA release I said enough is enough, I'll pay $30 (actually $20, had $10 off @ amazon from NGII) and get it now. The sick thing is that turned out to be completely false as they had to have been working on the PS3 version in NA when that comment was made for it be releasing this Oct because localizing takes at the very least 6 months to do... That really pissed me off though. Waited all this time for the PS3 release and to have that happen... So my philosophy now is that if it's a game I want & a game that I'll play now I'll buy it for whichever system it's available on... And w/ Disgaea 3, Tales of Vesperia & Fable II along with many other games to play it makes no sense for me to get rid of the 360 version for the PS3 version since I probably won't have spare time to play it anytime soon. Then again at the rate I TEAR through games maybe I'll end up playing it again this Winter. Only it'll be regrettably on my 360....

I just hope Eternal Sonata sells well on the PS3 and that Namco Bandai sees that their games deserve a PS3 release. Although I'd like to see them coincide w/ each other instead of being timed if that is the case we're now looking at. I won't say we don't want their games, but it's certainly a knife to the back getting games a year later while their counterpart is half the price on the other system (or vice versa)....

So 3-6 months from december is cause for celebration, because it could have been 3-6 months from December 2009 for all anyone knew. And I know fans who hate Sony wished that, and also openly wished it as well.

Taking 3-6 months to localize the game is to be expected. But the point is that's 3-6 months from December 2008, which means 6 to 9 months from now. So the celebrations are premature for that reason, other reason being no one knows how this game is going to turn out to be like.

For the record, I have high hopes for this game too, and I am looking forward very much to playing some exclusive JRPGs on a Japanese console. But that was more than a year ago when the anticipation began and the excitement has dwindled since. Plus it will probably be another year before I get to play it.

At first I thought it was all an act with Silogon. I thought he merely enjoyed the attention... but I'll admit I may have misjudged him. Upon closer inspection it appears as though he's just an EXTREMELY opinionated person. This of course makes rather unpopular on both sides because he's quite blunt with his opinions. This game is far from boring and mundane.

And while the rpgs in japan will sell well, they would have sold MUCH better on the ps3. Which is why xbox rpgs only sell good for a week or two. And so far square's rpgs haven't shown much. Infinite Undiscovery only sold about 70,000. For an rpg in Japan that is NOT good. And it has nothing to do with being a new IP because most of square's rpgs sold well whether they were new or not.

People in Japan are WAITING hard for WKS. If Japan gets a WKS bundle then yeah, that just might be the final blow for MS in Japan

This is really my most wanted RPG at the moment. Been excited for this one ever since I saw that E3 2007 video so long ago! This new information has me even more pumped than before! It's great to hear that the game should be very large... and possibly turn into a franchise? Hot damn!
