The game is being planned as a primarily singleplayer experience, though there will be a few co-op modes included, though they are more like mini-games. You and a friend can team up and defeat wave, upon wave of ghosts seeing just how long you can survive, or go head to head and see who can capture the most spectral baddies.
Sure the team dynamic of the series screams to have a campaign to tackle with a buddy, but Terminal Reality wanted to keep the relationship between the four Ghostbusters we already know at the forefront of the game. This is also why you take on the role of a new recruit, rather than an established member.
