i feel ur pain man. but i think this update is to either improve or add something that will enable the 2.40 perform better. i read somewhere that they had some issues that why they didnt release it maybe this update fixes the issue they found and so before they can relase the 2.40 they have to fix that issue first.

Sony announced a while ago they were going to release major updates and tone down the frequency. If they release a 2.36 the 2.40 will be announced within a few weeks and we have 2 updates within a month of each other right there.

I think this info is bogus. 2.40 will include security updates to make sure it actually works for starters. This news appears (to me) to be boiled out of wanting to get people riled up over firmware updates.

2.40 is coming, that's a given. As to when? No one really knows for sure, so stop complaining about it's release date when Sony haven't officially announced anything.

From what i heard firmware 2.4 will have ingame XMB and rewards similar to achievements, however on most games the "Black" quit game screen will still be used due to technical probablems.....also some of the more advanced games will reqired an update.

How you doing? Anyway, Sony didn't delay sh!t (besides Home). They have never said it would come in June. The only official anything said Summer and its still Spring last time I checked. July would be Summer though so right on schedule I guess.

I'm sure its wrong also. It doesn't have a date until Sony officially announces the Firmware on the Official Blog. Even then they will just say "soon" and never give a date. It will come within a few days of when they say "soon". It may have been scheduled for the 10th but ended up needing a little more work. I think they tried but it just had some bugs left. I'll bet that it will be out within the next 30 days or so. Thats just a guess though. They may "delay" it again. lol

All the hype of the MGS4 release (and awesome game), and we seemly forgot all about a huge issue that plagued another legion of fans: That whole GTA4 freezing issue. Maybe they finally fixed THAT and want to get that patch out NOW.

Or maybe they found a security hole or some issues with games locking when they shouldn't.

What I'm saying is that if this is true, don't think this does anything to 2.4! Remember, there ARE some issues that, when found, must be fixed ASAP! Before any additional features, they must make sure that everything is alright with the system as it is now. It's all a matter of priority.

And remember, there are some PS1 and PS2 games that have unresolved issues when you play them on the BC-able PS3s that they want to fix. They could've fixed THOSE issues, as well, and are wanting to get that update out there because of so many people buying the MGS4 bundle that had BC (imagine the uproar people would make if one of the biggest features of the model of system they got render their favorite PS1/2 game(s) virtually unplayable, or there are quirks about how the PS3 plays them that are too distracting).

When they said they wouldn't release these firmware updates all the time, they didn't mean that they wouldn't fix issues with the system or the games that people may have. You really want for Sony to just IGNORE those issues that require immediate attention just because they said something like that, or you really want 2.4 to come out that much that you want them to ignore that you can't play a certain game in the interim?

PLEASE, guys, show some common SENSE here! I want to see 2.4, as well, but if they discovered a way to fix certain issues with one of my games I bought that they can fix NOW, then by all means, LET THEM DO THAT NOW!!
