It should at least shut up those people complaining that demos wont be free now Qore is coming out.

StalkingSilence5810d ago

Hopefully people also read my comments in the article about Qore. It's pretty important and everyone's glossed over the real facts to make more dramatic stories in the past 24 hours.

Sev5810d ago (Edited 5810d ago )

People are just looking to bash Sony for anything they do.

They gotta find a way to drive revenue for the PSN, and rather than having ads, Qore will be a great interactive way to accomplish that goal.
It also provides you with some exclusive content, including beta access among other things.

I really think Kotaku telling people Sony will be charging for demos with Qore was a misrepresentation and confused a lot of people.

Even if we had to pay for demos/online play (which we dont) $25 is half the price of another service I know of.

BTW - I wil be signing up annually for Qore right away, that way I have first access to betas, etc

PS - Bubbles for SS

OC Shock Value5810d ago

Ill also be signing up for Qore.

I also have Xbox Live and dont mind paying a small price for greatness.

That is all

Pornlord5810d ago

I'm signing up for qore, no reason not too, it's a lot more reasonable than PSM... that's an expensive magazine!!!

Tomdc5810d ago

paying for beta acess is a bad move

Sev5809d ago

Paying for beta access is a bad move? It happens all the time.

MGO you had to put at least $5 down on the game.
Halo 3 beta, you had to buy... whatever game that was...

I didnt get a Home beta invite, because I am not a GAP member, yet I have been on the official PS forums for years.

SO at least if I pay I have access to betas.

Infernus5809d ago

Paying to get into a Beta is commonplace now, I agree. The way I think they should do it though is offer people who bought a previous game entitlement to play the next iteration before anyone else, like EA have done with C&C3: Kane's Wrath and the RA3 Beta entry codes. Imagine getting Resistance 2 and having automatic entry into a secret Resistance 3 Beta. It'll sell games too!

Anyway, as for the update, the Battlefield Demo is the biggest thing there for me. Although Fatal Inertia looked good too, the whole Wipeout thing but with destructible environments sounded awesome.

kevin11225809d ago

sev, i actually got into the MGO beta by being in gap.

spec_ops_comm5809d ago

I too am a GAP and long time PS.com forum member. I hate to say it, but betas are no longer used for tweaking the game. They are purely used for two things now:

1) Testing server load
2) Driving hype

I miss the days of closed betas. Even SOCOM is going for a public beta. Anyone who downloads Qore will get in.

But, what has me most worried about the future of 'incentive purchases' is this ridiculous crap Dice is trying to pull with the gold edition of Bad Company. Forget paying to get into a beta - awarding unlocks to those who can afford it is such a shocking change in the realm of gaming. Why rank up when you can just pay 10 more bucks to have every thing given to you? This could turn ugly.

Socom Confrontation beta invitation? Oh yeah, that's easily worth $2.99

DR-IVO5810d ago

socom is the only reason im getting Qore is the beta testing. I been in all socom beta testing on ps2 and I cant miss out on this one.

I wonder when the psn cards will be coming out?

Imallvol75810d ago

For SURE, I am buying it for that.

StalkingSilence5810d ago

SCEA's Noel Silvia addressed the question about PSN Cards last week on the PlayStation.Blog - but I'll help you out.

Short Story: PSN Cards are on their way, being shipped right now
Long Story: http://playstationlifestyle...

DEADEND5810d ago

I'm looking forward to getting Qore, to all the haters thinking Sony is going to charge for demos think again.

Fishy Fingers5810d ago

Battlefield demo would be a welcome update. Wouldn't mind seeing how it compares to the 360 beta.

Not a bad update all in all, hopefully this list comes good(??).

DR-IVO5810d ago

im going to have one busy weekend for video games. Qore plus Battlefield and Nascar demos.

I dont know about anyone else but Sony has been on a role with these psn store updates.

5 Criminally Underplayed Games That Need More Love

Dorkly: "History is written by the winners, and that applies to games, too. While we hold up our post-apocalyptic wasteland adventures, period piece assassinations and Liberty City crime sprees on a pedestal, we would do well to remember the little guys. These underseen, criminally underplayed games didn't do well critically or commercially, but they were still wonderful experiences. Here's a small list of recommendations of unsung heroes of the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era."

SaveFerris3361d ago

Alpha Protocol had so much potential. I'd really like to see another spy rpg.

Tex1173361d ago

Alpha Protocol has some fantastic ideas in its conversation and story progression due to choices. I really enjoyed my time with it.

A spy rpg can be done with amazing results if handled correctly.

InMyOpinion3361d ago

I would add 007: Bloodstone to the list. That game was criminally underrated.

WizzroSupreme3361d ago

Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, Chibi-Robo!, and Pikmin should be among these.

God Hand

Partly because I just recently discovered it and its insane.

What a gold nugget.

'Civilization': A brief history of just one more turn

XMNR: 2K Games and Firaxis Games officially unveiled “Civilization: Beyond Earth” at a PAX East, which ended Sunday. The storied franchise heads for the stars for the second time in its twenty-three year history but the history of Sid Meier’s just-one-more-turn creation is as interesting as the games themselves.
