Konami ID Registration Walkthrough

Here are some tips to get your Konami ID registered.

Get ready to do some speed typing because anything less will get you the inactivity error. I recommend using Firefox as your browser, as I also tried with Internet Explorer and it didn't work as well.

Go to https://id.konami.net/login.do

Click Register

The next page asks you to enter your country (which is already at United States), your language (already set at English), and your Date of Birth. Click Next

The following page requires you to agree to the Terms and Conditions, so without reading anything click agree.

This next page is where you need to do your speed typing. I suggest using the tab button to get to each line as fast as possible. The process (only the required info) will look something like this:

Konami ID (must be 8 characters or over using letters, numbers, and underscores. Must be lower case letters)

Password (must be 8 characters or over using letters, numbers)

Re-enter password

Mothers Maiden Name

GAME ID (cannot be the same as Konami ID, must be 8 characters or over, must use lower case letters)

thank goodness some of us listened Monday and signed up when told... don't just blame Konami blame all the people that made the fraudulent ID's as well. I love how many of the fraudulent ID people that now have to make a legit one can't and b1tch... heh

What exactly is this all about?

I just DL the beta, I can watch the video, or try and connect to a game but obviously no luck there. All I get is a "network problem" message then I have to quit back to XMB and load it up again. Shows V1.0

No where does it ask me about a patch or a Konami ID? (I'm UK BTW)

Not sure how it works for the UK.
US and Japan need to sign up for a Konami ID.

When you go to log into a game it doesnt ask you to enter a GAME ID to login?

If it doesnt then it probably isnt needed for you guys in the UK or Europe.

I will take a pic of what I mean by GAME ID and post it back here to maybe clear some things up for you.

When you get to the title screen, click start game, then accept the terms. That should bring you to the update/patch everyone is talking about.

You should have MGO version 1.01

Once you are done downloading the patch, quit game, and restart.
Then click start game, accept the terms, and you should be prompted to log in.
See if you need a GAME ID to log in.

I know the frustration everyone is having. I spent almost all day trying to sign up for a Konami ID. Its really a terrible process, and Konami should have just let it go by PSN ID.

I made this walkthrough to ease everyones frustration. I just hope everyone gets through and gets their ID

To everyone complaining the site is slow and unresponsive, or the patch is downloading to slow, it's your own fault, it's everyone fault the site is being over flooded and NO there is no way to prepare for it, everyone is trying to get to the same website as the same time, and this is ALOT of people.

Look. Take it as whing or whatever you want to, but the simple truth is that everything said is pure FACT. The website does not work. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the first of the HUGE PS3 "killer apps" being released this year and there is a beta for it. Who wouldn't want to be a part of it? So rather than prepare for heavy traffic at a site for a needed password used for the beta (that won't even be needed when the game officially releases) they just wing it. And look at what's happening. So sure, go ahead and blame it on us. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Besides, I'm guessing you're either one of the 5 people who already have an ID or you didn't even make it into the beta and you're taking your hatred out on us.

More examples of being whiney little brats, who cares it's a free beta for some , for others you have to pay 5 dollar deposit that goes towards the game, how do you prepare being flooded do you people not understand the simple mechanics of a website? Are you serious?? This is simply bad resource allocation on Konami's part. You think Amazon or Google has problems with too much traffic? You simply allocate the resources needed to support the estimated load its not rocket science!

Konami simply didn't plan properly (or didn't want to spend the money).

The idea that somehow they are not responsible because lots of people are trying to register, they must be saying to themselves 'damn didn't see that one coming!!, oh wait didn't we release that beta for one of the biggest games likely to have come out on the PS3 so far' 'no idea why that would cause any increase in load ....'

Ironmunk is right. There are many ways to deal with high traffic on a website. The simplest (and cheapest) would have been making it explicitly understood that you need a Konami ID and Game ID to participate in the beta. That way people could have had them for weeks and just waiting instead of trying for days to get a bull$hit code that won't even be relevant when the game is released. That is why people are pissed. Everyone who is playing the beta already has a psn ID. Why do we need another one? And since Konami is screwing the pooch and making it mandatory to have one, they should have had the foresight to make the process as smooth as possible.

I doubt there will be millions playing in the beta. If that were the case, they might as well have released it. Since it's global, it will probably be a couple hundred thousand, but maybe not even that high.

Im in the UK and would love to participate in the mgo beta, i am not too sure on how to do so. Iv signed up to konami and recieved a konami id, game id, ive also downloaded the mgo beta from psn store and its currently downloading a patch or something via p2p, what else do i need to do, do i need a code or something, please help! and rest my case lol

you just need the Konami ID and Game ID for playing - starting on the 21st. You can download the beta with your code and then run it to install the patch.

I have had the same problems, but this is a Beta preview. The whole point is to find problems and fix them.
