According to sources, Sony has something big ready to be revealed at E3 this year in regards to the Sony PS3.

Sources state that Sony has something huge to announce at E3 this year, which could give the PS3 a boost heading into the holidays against the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Key point here is with the cost reductions to manufacture a ps3. Why not upgrade the design to farther reduce cost. They could even reintroduce full backwards PS2 compatibility through software on the PS3 40G.

What did Gears do new - a couple thing's like active reload(turns reloading into a minigame), jump in at anytime co-op and taking what was a broken cover system in past games and made it almost perfect, chainsaw beonets. =)

5.) New Releases- Haze, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Wipeout HD (PSN), NOVASTRIKE (PSN), Dark Mist (PSN), etc.
6.) New things for the PSP. (Blu-ray movies to PSP, God of War Chains of Olympus, Wipeout Pulse, etc.)

Every time I think something big is coming, I get the TBA or a delay. HOME, LBP, Haze, Killzone 2, last year's Lair/Heavenly Sword release push backs, Eight Days, FFXIII (2010 now?)....it's a freaking joke.

Games get delayed thats a fact of the INDUSTRY. Its not just Sony.
Twilight Princess was supposed to come out in 04 for the GC, and didnt come out until 07 for a totally different system. SSBB was delayed until march when it just came out.

I will put $1000 down that Gears of War 2 doesnt make it out this year.
Its march, and all they had was a tech demo. Either that or Epic is going to work NON-STOP for until November, and release a washed out version of what it could have been. Gears and Epic have a good fanbase, and they arent going to dissapoint the fans just to get it out before the holidays.
Epic could bring Gears to another console in the future after Gears 2. They arent going to blow the sales of future franchise titles, spinoffs, etc just to make sure MS has a game to sell their system this holiday. Relax MS fans, it would sell without the Gears 2.

Now back to Sony. What are you "waiting for"? GT5:P, and MGS4 are due out before September. Dont forget MG:Online which will provide hours of online gaming. Those 2 are megatons, and have huge fan bases, and are also potential multi million sellers.
KillZone 2 is gonna be pushed back to 09 I also guarantee that.
But everything else will be released.

One last thing, its HUGELY common for developers and publishers to wait until right before holiday season (SEPTEMBERish) to release a game. That way they get the sales from the hype of the release, then the sales from the hype of xmas. 2 sales booms. Makes sense dont it?
HOME also could be released in sept, to push consoles along with giving Sony extra time to tweak it.

Do you want half assed games now? Or do you want good games a little later? Again its a fact of the industry, and it isnt just a Sony thing.

You know what would have happened? There wouldnt be any games late 08. Because Sony wouldnt have sold enough consoles for developers to want release games on the PS3.

A while back sometime last month an N4G member posted a link to a SONY page that was auto-translated. I don't know if it was rumor or a screwup by Sony but it reported that the PS3 40gb new model included compatibility with PS2 format software.

The japanese PS3 60gb models are selling double the price of 40g PS3's in some areas. As a result of the higher interest for full backwards compatibility in Japan this could be something that might happen.

I do have one with approx 7 titles, of which include Ratchet & Clank TOD, COD4, Army of TWO, Rockband, Ninja Gaiden, R6, and Devil May Cry 4.

I would have to say that Heavenly Sword's game play was the most enjoyable and esthetically pleasing on my Samsung 4071, however it was way to short of a game (glad I rented it rather than buying it)

I am not knocking Sony (because I rather sit on this nice piece of hardware that has won the format war, and keeps gaining momentum, than purchase a 360 that will bake itself), I just haven't seen anything that put me in awe, the things I have seen, haven't even been released yet! I have been chomping at the bit for Haze... so I guess it's the anticipation of hearing about this that and the other that makes irritable (kinda like - that put up shut up mentality).

So maybe I just live under a rock... but it's what you got now on the market that counts! Not a million different trailers... that have gotten some sort of publicity since the launch of the PS3..

It wont be Killzone2, Res2, Home or anything we know of and 100% sure of that or it wont be a big announcement. Im also 99% sure that Killzone will release before Res2 within 2months span of each other for breathing room. It has to be something like heavy rain, 8days or 1 of those games that Sony has up their sleeve. I know heavy rain was dated for this year but is still TBA so it could be most likely that.

GoW3 could be at E3 but not this big announcement that Sony says could help their holiday sales because GoW3 is more of a fall 2009 release date.

It won't be a Killzone 2 trailer, because that game won't get released until 2009. Same for FFXIII, GOW 3, and possibly Haze. (Haze will probably never be released.) The announcement will probably be something about Home, or movie rentals on PS3.

And don't even get me started on HOME (which honestly, not many people were even asking for in the first place.) How about you dress up the PSN store first and make an interface that looks like some actual thought was put into it, fix the sloooowww download and install process, fix the internet browser, do in-game XMB and then and ONLY then can you work on HOME and other BIG announcements.

I'm really setting my hopes high with a FF7 remake but the last time something big was suppose to happen with the PS3 we got a Lost Planet remake...It's like seeing Ed McMahon come out of his truck and walk towards your house carrying a giant piece of cardboard under his arm and you assume it's a giant novelty check for a million dollars but then it turns out that it was nothing but a giant piece of cardboard after all. Not only that but he ends up using your bathroom, lays a giant steaming stinker, doesn't flush, tosses out your air freshener and pees in the back part of the toilet so when you flush pee comes out instead of water.
