Half a million is pretty good for an online only game (that has zero single player) that you can only play on the ps3. Especially considering it hasn't even been out for 6 months.

I know WoW and other MMORPG's are also online only but that's for the pc (much larger installed base).

I agree, this is not good enough to be news. However I trully believe the game sold alot higher than 1/2 million...

Considering:
A) this is a ranked stats page, what about ps3 users with multiple user names (actually less sales?). The negative point players are obviosly team killers with other accounts (last page)

B) this is US ONLY. Yes, i know alot of other people's names are on there from EU but that was due to glitch. I doubt it's even fixed.

This game is great but would of sold twice as much if they lowered price by 25%, and had an option to play split screen without having to connect to internet.

It may have not as much, but the game is the most bought PSN title on the ps3.

I am pretty sure that includes downloads too because that is all the people who have ever played a ranked match in Warhawk. So that would include both versions. But for me, I have had the game since day one and only played 3 ranked matches. I always create games or join unranked games that look fun and have put a ton of hours into the game. I played my first 3 ranked matches recently so I would not have shown up there before that.

Resistance 2/Motorstorm 2/GT5/MGS4 all of them would easily sell over 10 m in their lifetime

By the launch of those games PS3 would have an install base of around 12m/20m in europe( region with HIGHEST PURCHASING POWER)

Plus you also know that PS3 will sell more than 100million this generation ( perhaps 100 million in europe alone)

...The game failed to capture my attention. Gave it a go for a couple of weeks but I really cannot see why people find it fun. The graphics don't really do the PS3 justice and the gameplay often results in rampant spawn killing.

Biggest annoyance - is that I did not read the fine print before purchasing the downloadable version. Basically meant that only I could play it as everyone would have to use my account to play it. Has to be the worst example since the IPod of DRM.

Even though the lobby system is vastly inferior to that of Warhawk, I have gone back to playing COD4.

x360's games never enter the top 10 charts of any eu countries. DMC4 x360 version also flopped in Spain/Germany/France/Italy

I still have not played a single ranked game. Mostly because when I want to I can not get on. But the real reason is I just love playing with my buddies online and you can't play with them on ranked matches.

when you create a game, create a "player ranked" game. That way when you play against your mates it counts. Not only will you get the credit you deserve but official bragging rights. Of course you will need to have eight people into the match like a real ranked game in order to make a 'true' match of it.

Edit/ - It's ok BlackIce, a lot of people don't know that, but it's a lot more fun to make a match that counts as opposed to a practice match.

I'm surprised it even got that high. It's a great game, no doubt, but it's also a new IP. What some of the haters obviously don't like to mention is that 40% of PS3 owners don't have PSN accounts (same figure for the 360 and Live), which means the actual sales figures for Warhawk are probably closer to 750~800K units sold. The screengrab shows 510,000 people who have PSN accounts AND play on ranked servers.

Personally, I like the unranked servers as well since the setups can get really interesting (i.e. jetski racing with the warhawks). I'm hoping the next Warhawk title actually has a single player campaign and ups the number of players per map from 32 to 64.

Ovidius that is honest the sadest reply i have heard i a long time. 27 games vs. 3 looks really bad no matter what spin you put on it. The 360 had a 1 year lead and it has 9 times more games in the millions. If it was half your arguement would have some validity but that isnt the case.

Halo 3 also was a game people were able to pre-order. Halo 3 was hyped to hell. Halo 3 has both online and offline gameplay, while Warhawk doesn't. There are less 12 year olds with PS3's as well.

GT5:P can do just the same, look at euro pre-orders.

Besides, it's not sales or reviews that make something great, it's the thing itself that makes it great. Just look at music these days! All the talentless idiots are richer than hell, and they have more CD sales. Look at the music with actual talent. Yeah I don't see them living in giant mansions filled with horridly degraded women. Wow you just are killing your own arguments. Metallica post justice is just plain horrible and any REAL metallica fan will agree. Talent doesn’t make a good song, a balance of talent and creativity does. Talent is not a substitute for creativity but creativity can but a substitute for talent. Most bands make worse records as they get more talented (nirvana, chili peppers, skinny puppy, snoop dog, metallica, megadeath, tool, type-O, korn, god I could go on for hours with examples in every genre). Some of the most talented musicians on the planet make some of the worst music. Look at joe satriani, he is a god on guitar, everyone he teaches to play rocks and yet all of his songs BLOW hard. it's been a while since i played (maybe a month ago), but when i'm not so busy, i'll try and get back into it. i was never into online gaming until i got into the Warhawk Beta and was surprised at how much fun i was having. i'm a single player and co-op gamer at heart, but now i'm a convert (well, at least for Warhawk. Resistance is great also, but i hardly play that online).

u can't compare warhawk to cod4, thats why cod4 has the last digit.

Many games, and as such has built up a big fanbase, heck cod1 was awesome.

But since then cod4 has been the best, there were some great bits in cod2.

Thats not the total amount, trust me, even sony were shocked at how many this has sold. and its not 500,000.:) look abit closer to 2million mark total.

4. A LOT of people who got high rank before the rank glitch was fixed stopped playing ranked games to keep their fake rank. When the ranked servers were reset because of the glitch, I didnt come on for almost a month myself because I was near a General, but got busted down to Airman.

If your internet sucks (like here), and you don't have someone to play against in split screen... then it will suck.

For those wanting to play it off-line... Just connect it to the network, and create a local game, split screen - and you can have a four player game going.

My kids love this game... Have not been online with it yet... and still this game was worth every cent. But if you are alone then the multiplayer only will suck. But great to see this game doing OK. It deserves to be a multi million seller.
