Japan launched a rocket Saturday carrying a satellite that will test new technology that promises to deliver "super high-speed Internet" service to homes and businesses around the world.
The Associated Press said the satellite would offer speeds of up to 1.2 gigabytes per second.
The developer of Garry's Mod has announced it is in the process of removing all Nintendo-related content from Steam Workshop after receiving a takedown request from Nintendo.
In the next adventure from Ion Fury; We get Phantom Fury and here is the opening level in action.
PSLS writes: I have traveled across the country using the Razer Kishi Ultra in airports and hotels for both PlayStation Remote Play and mobile gaming in general, and I am thoroughly impressed.
Man, up to 1.2 GB. No more lag on multi player games, faster downloads, larger files, streaming HD movies are coming. I have heard Communication experts say that they see a huge leap in internet speeds over the next 5 years.
Wow, thats fast!! That definatley wouldn't take very long to download a full length HD 1080p movie. And people said that DD was far away; yeah this is still in tests but it will be coming soon enough, along with other countries following soon. My only question is, when is it coming to the US?
Can some tell me what the speed of 1.2 GB would cost a month? Probably around a mortage payment?
Now I can sell my house in order to replace Blu-ray with On Demand. Oh wait.
HD Content On Demand won't become a reality until at least 10 to 15 years have passed. TV Resolutions will keep increasing for the sake of format makers. Internet speeds will have to catch up faster than TV resolutions in order to deliver the highest resolution possible for every movie. Ultra Hi-Vision will slow on demand adoption and require holographic media instead. 30 years from now maybe, just maybe resolution growths will slow in comparison with internet speeds. Maybe then, on demand will be the standard.
Until then, Xtards, get bent.
This kind of development most certainly makes a strong case for Digital Distribution. But as someone said will take years to be the norm. If MS has not invested in this project, them I'm confident it's taking a very close look at the technology.
