A Disney exec this week told the L.A. Times this week that Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 was a device built to penetrate the high-definition Blu-ray disc format into living rooms.
"The Playstation 3 was a Trojan Horse," said Disney Studios Home Entertainment President Bob Chapek.
Toshiba Corp. on Tues. announced that it would exit the HD DVD business following a rash of support for the Blu-ray disc format.
"Our efforts have only just begun," Chapek said. "We have to get the consumer to make the move from DVD to Blu-ray now that the risk of picking the wrong format is gone."
