Sony to lose Formula One franchise exclusivity to EA?

Electronic Arts has just stroke a deal with Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton amounting to a whopping five million GBP or roughly around US$ 10.40 million. The publication added that the driver will be featured on "Xbox and PlayStations around the world next year."

Umm Sony had a partnership deal with F1 that expires this year, and Sony has already stated that it will not renew the agreement, because F1 is seeking a rather large increase in dollars for exclusivity & limited returns you can make on 1 F1 game a year.

If EA buys it up at an already inflated price, it would be rather stupid on their part. An F1 game once a year plus developing a title yearly along with the license fee's to F1 & drivers isn't a good investment at all.

Sony F1 games always were more fun than EA games cuz' EA tried to be a little too sim which is a bad thing on a console and one more thing when you get a F1 license for a game I think you get all the drivers and cars with it so why did they have to pay to Lewis if they have official license

Its amazing that the counter-culture PS3 owners hate EA. They make terrific games, year in year out. Sure, some games are better than others, but when you make as many titles as they do, they cant all be 100% perfect.

Hating development studios is stupid. Do you hate Universal Pictures becaue they made Jaws: The Revenge even though they made Jaws, Scareface and Schindlers' List?

I just hope that EA make better F1 games than when they owned the licence a few years back (F1 2000 was very poor).

You can't say this move isn't surprising however, F1 in the UK has its most hype in years thanks the Louse Hammlton (sp), and the champship is as tight as ever.

the last F1 game even though F1 arent my type was pretty enjoyable. and the one at launch on the PDS3 marks the last of a good series as EA will now whore out the franchise and release it every years with shallow gameplay and now improvements using the same rubbish graphics. as a matter of fact The PS3's 2007 launch version would probably look better than both the 2008 versions because we know ea sucks and there multiplat games dont look that impressive

I would have bought this game, but, when they put it out without Force Feedback, they lost me. Granted, it was released just prior to the Immersion settlement, but, a settlement was highly expected at the time. The screwed up.
