Watchdog Group Calls for Investigation in Wake of Manhunt 2 Re-rate
13
While Rockstar fans are high-fiving over news that Manhunt 2 will now see the light of day as an M-rated horror game, the Campaign For a Commercial-Free Childhood is not impressed.
The group has called for a federal government investigation into how Manhunt 2 came to be an M-rated game.

I'm not so sure whether I'm going to get this game or not. This game is a little bit too violence for me. In my opinion: extreme violent + stealth = creepy.

Yeah man, I have never really liked manhunt, but they are for my own reasons. But if they have changed the game sufficiently enough to give it an M rating then what's the fuss?

I dont like this game either but "federal government investigation into how Manhunt 2 came to be an M-rated game" is too much. Its as though the government has nothing else to do

I completely agree, if the game was sufficiently changed to warrant a re-classification, then there is no need for a government investigation, unless there was money exchanged or something....
but to be fair this is all political nonsense anyhoo - it is ridiculous.

5 - What the hell is wrong with these people
Raise their own children, and stop trying to dictate how other people raise their children. The woman is probably pissed off because she found her son with a M rated game. She of course being to busy to watch his game buying habits, and would like to take it out on the rest of us. Remember this a country where parents have the right to raise their children as they see fit and watchdog groups like this seek to take that right away. They want government legislation on choices that should belong to parents. One last thing the average age of gamers is 33, so how the heck is this marketed for children under 17, when the money coming in is from people in there 20's and 30's
PS. don't care the game myself but I hate censorship.

I think this type of game is sick, if ppl wanna play this type of game fine, but deff not for me, and I can understand how parents want this type of game band. I hope sony does by rockstar so these sick games stay off the wii and 360.

8 - Wow...
This is how I believe the call went out to the group against Manhunt 2 being rated M, now.
"We cannot stand for this! Manhunt 2 is obviously not an M rated game. When I get an M rated game, I fully expect that game to be suitable for a 17 year old! This game is obviously not suitable for anyone under 18, or maybe 17 and a half at the most! We cannot allow this to stand! Saying a game is ok for 17 year olds, when it should only be played by 18 year olds is a crime of the highest order! Because of that, we will demand a federal investigation in order to make sure this game never falls into the hands of someone who is 1 year too young to play it, unless a parent decides to get it for their kid who is under 18, or 17, anyway!"
yes, let's fight over a YEAR.
I don't get the whole AO thing anyway. M is 17+, and AO is 18+. They're virtually the same, and, really, I think AO should be done away with, and if its that big of a deal, make M 18+.
M and AO is like movies having a R and S rating, where R is as it is now (anyone under 17 must be with an adult), and S is anyone under 18 must be with an adult. It's redundant!
I know, though, that stores would then probably stop carrying M rated games, but that's another story and really shows a lot of ignorance on the part of many people.
