Because some infuriating boss battle is keeping you up all night! Since the early years of gaming, there have been many types of boss battles. There are the bosses who are laughably easy, the epic boss battles that make you impressed with the company who created the game, and the boss battles that make you want to stab your mom in the face. My personal choic is Kintaro of Mortal Kombat 2, hands down that was one tough coin eating monster. Also MK1's Goro, Fallout 1&2's final bosses if your character level was low and finally the final boss of Suikoden.

I thought he was pretty easy too, had to be cautious that's all.

I'd say any boss from the NES game Trojan.

The final boss in Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) was also tough.

Some of the later bosses in Final Fantasy Tactics, especially the beastmaster who had a stungun.

Ummm...Last boss in Final Fantasy VIII, anyone?

5.2 - I'd almost forgot about The End

Yes, The End was annoying....mainly because I wasn't satisfied with just beating him, but I had to have his weapon....sneaking up on him & holding him up for his gun was super difficult....It's been a few years, but I think I spent a couple hours until I succeeded in doing it that way.

Kirin in FFXI is the hardest boss i have ever fought... i know there are ones much much much harder in that game...i think Kirin's one of the easier ones... i know Vtra and Dynamis lord are tough tough tough.... but 30 people and 2 hrs of fighting to take down kirin and summons...not too shabby.

You can burn kirin in a couple minutes nowdays in FFXI. Didn't a couple linkshells fight Absolute Virtue for 50+ hours striaght before he got beat? I think one linkshell got close 70hrs before they gave up.

9 - I remember beating Emerald

To me that was a huge accomplishment. I put more time into preparing for that battle than I did preparing for some college finals.

The one in the desert, I think it was Ruby, was even more difficult to me.

11 - Ooo..Skies of Arcadia Legends

Never played it on the Dreamcast, but in the GC version, there were multiple hard bosses in that game, which I would consider harder than some of those bosses on that list. Maybe its just because you can avoid getting hit on so many of them, but in a turn based RPG, you're out of luck.

Zelos was quite a beast, involing an easy ship battle, but when you had to fight him/Ramirez in person...ouch. Not much is worse than getting your own attacks used against you, and he loves to use the worst ones, often nearly killing the target, doing massive damage to the whole group, or stoning one of your group.

Then you have the bounty fights (except Baltor) and the Angel of Death, who level up with you. I'm not sure I know of another RPG that makes enemies stronger with you, and many of them have devistating attacks for a single person or high damage for a group, and with tough side effects at that (confusion, I remember, with the rich dude that yells "money makes the world go 'round!")

It doesn't match Mike Tyson, though. That's one of only 2 games I ever game up on. The other one was Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Those are the only bosses I've never been able to beat! I think remembering all of these old bosses is giving me high blood pressure.

Eh no one else mentioning Kintaro...

I've got to add Baldur's Gate 2's final boss Jon. MGS bosses were overally awesome and some of the best but none of them were really hard.

I hope they add Culex from Super Mario RPG, the final fantasy boss in the blue door. Without rock candies he's really hard. Has anyone seen this video before? I want to play this game now lol..
