IGN: The Wednesday 10: Fixing Dynasty Warriors

IGN:
KOEI's Dynasty Warriors franchise has been around for years now. The name has become synonymous with button-mashing, as players continuously wade through hundreds of enemies with a very limited series of attacks. Although the original games were well-received, recent entries have been much less impressive, as the gameplay and tech feel increasingly stale with each iteration.

The series sells like hot cakes in Japan, they won't mess with the formula since it sells great. I mean why risk the chance of alienating the fanbase when it already works.

Just look at Pokemon, every new version is almost the SAME game, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Sacks of ramen, put it on very hard/chaos and say that again and 21st century combat if i wanted guns/tanks id pick up a fps or rts not a game based on swords/spears and arrows.

Unique characters it would be stupid to have only one character of each weapon type the only generic are the foot soldiers and enemy/allied lesser officers/generals so why would we go backward with having fewer characters to play with.

The one intelligent remark they did make is a larger scale of warfare, but what they forget is the more objects/enemies in the area the more it strains the hardware espically if the are not static.

@1.2 i totally agree, i will give the voice acting isn't always stellar, but how many game have meh va's the one thing dw/sw games need desperatly is online coop.

I'm still wondering when koei/microcabin will make a new warship gunner.

One thing that will make me instantly happy and lead me to purchase the game again (I sold DW6 after I found out how gimped it was after a week of play) is better voice acting. Listening to how the voice actors completely butcher each character's name or talking about a certain location during battles makes my ears bleed. I noticed it was 1% better, when they pronounced Cao Cao's name correctly (Tsao Tsao, not Cow Cow, god...) but it still has a long way to go to be legit.

At least you still get them names ... what can western Sengoku basara fans say so far ? They have to deal with crap like "red lightning" instead of popular and known figure of the sengoku era , on top of a dub that's as awful if not worse .

Sorry i played the first demon whatever and it sucked asshole, it was a piss poor rip off of samurai warriors, that had broken ai, retarded damage amounts. And the super boneheaded no in battle save i think even dw2 had that at least.

The only thing it did well is each characters 2 unique moves.

Never touched any sequels if they made any.
