Square-Go: Persona 4 Review

While the menu system is nice and clear, combat is very retro. For a game that is so rich in other ways, to develop your character by having to battle through constant arrays of monsters to gain money and experience is tiring. Although the boss fights are well handled and can be easily terminal if you're not prepared.

The fighting is forgivable though in what is a memorable and attractive game for last generations console. If you like RPG's you will be in your element and if you've never played one before you could do much worse than play P4.

I"m really disappointed that the series, especially 4 wasnt a ps3 game. Sony should really be working with Atlus directly to bring some of their games to the ps3 and off the ps2.

Supposedly, they are working on a PS3 title.

Anyway, this game deserves more than 7. More like 9-9.5. IMO, the best JRPG of 2008.

@johnny-it's a daft score for a game with more sheer joy at being a game than anything else since P3. The love is in the details and if a reviewer cannot get pat the little foibles that make it what it is(like stoically remaining on PS2 and totally ignoring fashions wthin jrpgs)then they either missed the point or found it too hard.

So 9 at the very least.

They actually gave this game a 7? What are they basing that on exactly? As far as PS2 RPGS are concerened, this game is one of the top ones for the console.

I will admit that it does start off slowly, but after that you're good to go.

I do wish that these were on the 360/PS3. Even the next Devil Summoner is going to be on the PS2. Its obvious that there still isn't a lot of faith in the Next gen console right now.
