'Shadow of the Colossus' is being made into a movie: Yay! But who should direct?

EW:
This totally made my day: The 2005 PlayStation 2 game, Shadow of the Colossus, is going to become a movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. For those of you who have played the game, you already know why this is wonderful news. For those who haven't, let me explain. Colossus is an adventure game in which you guide a young man and his horse through a hauntingly barren landscape in search of colossi -- huge, majestic stone creatures. In order to bring your loved one (a young woman) back to life, you must destroy each of the land's colossi, which is not an easy feat since some of them stand several stories tall.

1.2 - PETER JACKSON SUCKS!
The Fellowship of the Ring had the most craft out of all the LOTR, and that basically ripped off the 70s animated version.

Gullermo Del Toro - he is so much more visionary. He is currently directing the Hobbit, mark my words, this movie is going to make LOTR look like childs play. He also directed HellBoy1+2, Pans Labrynth, and Blade 2. Del Toro knows how to fill a world with outrageous yet believable characters.

Ridley Scott - Directed Legend. 'nuff said. Scott would breathe life into the world of SotC, and a sense of atmosphere is crucial in bringing this film to life.

1.7 - I think Peter Jackson gets a little too much credit.
The Lord of the Rings was a great trilogy, but did any of you see King Kong? That movie sucked hard.

I'm not going to sit here and through out names, but one thing is for certain; if the director isn't a visionary, the movie will fail.

1.8 - Peter jackson
gets the credit that he gets cause he filmed a really big and epic movie in New Zealand which is almost never done.

Me being a New Zealander we never ever have big movies filmed here. Also our film makers never get any credit usually. Heavenly swords animation was made in New Zealand, wellington, and was directed by Andy who also played the main villain in the game.

Halo wars cenematics were made in NZ i think? im not quite sure but something of halo was made in NZ. And all you people who are using vista? you see the design of the task bar down the bottem? and that 3d scrolling feature vista has? All that was made in NZ. The only attractive part of vista some might say.

Normally the news will only report news thats in the same country which is why you hardly hear of whats going on else where. So its good to know that someone else is receiving credit overseas.

Oh and for the person who didn't enjoy King Kong? I honestly see nothing wrong with it... it was a great film in my opinion.

DEL TORO

Because he's a gamer and a hard fan of TEAM ICO...I bet he will beg to direct this movie and even go down in salary

I still think that Guillermo Del Toro would be great to do a Silent Hill movie Zack Snyder for GOW and my pick for SOTC would be either Micheal Bay, Peter Jackson or even John Favreau.

Guillermo Del Toro, why because he is a SotC/Ico fan and he has proven himself to be of this style with Pan's Labarynth.

I wish the wouldn't make it into a movie. They probably won't be able to convey all the emotions and depth as the game did. I hope atleast that they don't make Wander talk. I also hope they don't change the music too much. I think it's a game that shouldn't be made into a movie. It won't feel the same when it's cut down to a 1 1/2 to 2 hour length.

lets see what Zack Snyder does with his remake of Heavy Metal, he has a good eye for transferring material to film.

Gullermo Del Toro!!!!!!this is just his kind of stuff to direct either him or TIM BURTON imagine if both of them directed this film it would be a masterpiece & probably one of the best movies ever but again i dont really want this game to be turned into a game maybe ICO would be a better movie to be made but again i dont think they should make them but if they decided to then i hope they stay close to the storyline & pick at least one of these directors ^-^

Don't make this into a movie. The game was an emotional experience that each player gets to feel in his or her own way. This will not transfer well into film.

I highly agree with you.
American Cinematography has that effect on remakes and the likes ESPECIALLY on great Asian movies. They ALWAYS FCK them up giving them a bad rep.........movies they have Fed up Shutter,My Sassy Girl, One missed call The Grudge series.........IF they F up The Seven Samurai(A classic of classics)film im gonna be hella pissed.
IF they cant make the transition then why F up a perfectly good thing???
